Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

The Marlins secured the NL East and with that will turn their attention to call-ups, giving them most of the playing time.

The only regular starters that will see much action are:

1B Chris Davis - he is trying for his 3rd 50-HR season in the last 5 seasons.

SP Damian Boeve - the rookie is slated for now the 2nd spot in the playoff rotation with Heaney down, and will likely be shut down after one more start to let him try to win his 20th game. After that, he will get to rest his arm - and even that outing will likely be limited to about 80 pitches.

Otherwise, it will be AAA guys getting a chance to make impressions for next year's Spring Training, with the regulars getting occasional time to stay sharp as well as pinch hit and defensive replacement duties.

For some, this time will have significant individual meaning:

SP Josh Hader will try to prove he's worth including in the team's future plans. Should that not work out, he could very well be traded in the coming offseason - perhaps for a LF if Carlos Gonzalez does indeed walk.

SP Quinn Williams - might be nearing his last chance to prove he isn't just a "AAAA" pitcher. He shines in the minors but has been destroyed in every opportunity at the major league level.

SP Jared Rogers - a pitch-to-contact type, he'll be looking to show power arms shouldn't be the only thing the organization should be looking for.

These three are trying to stand out on a pitching-deep organization. It will be an uphill battle for each of these young pitchers.

OF Marcel Ozuna - not really a call-up, per se, but this time being an everyday player is a chance to prove his worth. Scouts feel he's labored, and developed, in silence and gone unnoticed in the organization as the hyper play of Matt Baldwin turned more successful.

1B Ramon Santos - being a James Loney type of 1B on a team with Chris Davis and young power at the position in AAA is not a fun task. Santos will really need to show what he's worth...perhaps so he can go somewhere else via trade.

OF Brandon Nimmo - last year's Rule 5 pick looked impressive, then has gone on a downward spiral ever since. He risks being completely buried, especially since he's not a young prospect. At 24, it's time for him to start coming into his own.

      Notable non-callups:

SP Moses Bartlett - this knuckleballer looks like he's ready for sure, and looks like he might be more than just solid, but the Marlins are holding him down in AAA for now. This may not mean anything, though, as Boeve wasn't a call-up last year.

SP Hunter Harvey - Often compared to Boeve in the organization, and, like Boeve, Harvey won't be making the jump at least not unless needed for injuries.

IF David Sohn - a young power hitter in the making, he looks like he's ready to take his hacks at 1B if nothing else, especially vs LHP where he really cuts it loose. Perhaps when Davis is shut down, that will be Sohn's chance.
"Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18

Glad to see the baseball injury that rarely happens always happen in MLB The Show still. Dilson Herrera tore his ACL and his out for 6 months, probably gonna be forced to retire. He wasn't in the bigs yet for me, but I planned on using him in the future as my second basemen. While this angers me, I'm up for the challenge, as things like this can happen in real life out of the blue. It just changes my plans for building the team now for the future. Do I now resign Murphy? Move Flores to second? Decisions, decisions...

This is why I love baseball. Sometimes you are forced to make decisions based on either injury, guy not resigning, guy not retiring, or a young prospect who is tearing things up in the minors and then again in Spring Training.

Well the season hasn't started out the way we would've liked. We lost 2 of 3 at home to the Pirates. We won game 1 thanks to outstanding pitching by Wainwright, though he got a no decision, and the bullpen. We scored 3 in the 8th to win 3-1.

Games 2 and 3 were terrible. Our bats didn't have anything in them, leaving runners on base. Our starting pitching left something to be desired as well, as Lynn and Wacha both didn't have their best stuff in either game.

Next is a 3 game series in Arizona. Hopefully our offense will make the trip out west.

How is the scheduling in future years? Is it wonky or pretty solid for the most part?

playing 2016 now and it is solid in my opinion. Interleague games still do not rotate like they should, but other than that, not bad.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

I'm now into my fourth year of a two player franchise on one system against my brother. Im the Phillies and he's the Brewers. we're using one of the OSFM rosters (don't remember which update exactly) We both like being bad teams and making them good so we chose those two. We're playing the franchise on experienced and our in game difficulty is All- Star and we play one and sim 10 since there's two of us on one system. After three years were both trying to find a way to make it harder, not the gameplay but the roster movement. After three years I've won the World Series twice and he's won once. Currently my lineup goes
                        1. Christian Yelich LF- 93
                        2. Yasiel Puig RF- 95
                        3. Mike Trout CF- 99
                        4. Paul Goldschmidt 1B- 96
                        5. Kris Bryant 3B- 97
                        6. Yoan Moncada 2B- 94
                        7. Carlos Correa SS- 91
                        8. Blake Swihart C- 88
                        9. Pitcher spot
                        And my rotation:
                        1. Archie Bradley 97
                        2. Taijuan Walker 94
                        3. Henry Owens 94
                        4. Jon Gray 92
                        5. Luis Severino 90
And in my bullpen I have Trevor Rosenthal-90, Miguel Castro-89, Tim Collins 83, Robert Osuna 83 and one other 85 who I'm forgetting.
                        My brothers team
                        1. Byron Buxton CF- 96
                        2. Bryce Harper RF- 97
                        3. Anthony Rizzo 1B- 96
                        4. Giancarlo Stanton LF- 98
                        5. Addison Russel SS- 94
                        6. Nolan Aranado 3B- 90
                        7. Salvador Perez C-88
                        8. Xander Bogaerts SS- 88
                        9. Pitcher
                        His rotation:
                        1. Jose Fernandez 99
                        2. Stephen Strasburg 96
                        3. Alex Meyer 94
                        4. Jameson Taillon 92
                        5. Tyler Glasnow 88
And he has a very good bullpen as well. Even with all of this we still both have lots of potential A's in our minors such as Cory Seager, JP Crawford( high B), Dylan Bundy, Tyler Kolek, Joc Pederson and some others. At this point our teams have gotten so good that it is no longer all that fun. Does anyone know how to make it challenging, any settings or something?

Correction to my above post, Russel is a SS but my brother plays him at 2nd base since Bogaerts is better defensively

Not having all 90s and above on your team would make it challenging.

Obviously that would make it harder but then that diminishes the point of building a team which I've always thought was the best part of franchise mode. And since its me and my brother were kind of having a competition to see who can do better. There's no way that it should be this easy to make such good teams especially because neither of us signed any free agents and we traded for almost all of these players in the first year with terrible players on the rosters we inherited.

I simmed a handful of seasons and did all the offseason work w/ the Red Sox this weekend. I noticed a lot of my guys were vanishing off my team and landing on other teams. Players that shouldn't even be eligible for FA yet. I renew the contracts of those I can, but other guys should have that option and don't. Anyone run into this problem?
