    <table><td bgcolor=#000F30>All Star Break - 2016</td></table>

The team played better in June and first half of July. But it didnt make a difference as we went 17-18 and now sit at 43-45. In May the team gave up 4.5 runs per game while scoring 3.8 runs per game. June/July we gave up 3.9 per game and scored 4.1 per game. I dont know if the pitching can get much better than that. So we have to figure out how to score more runs.

    MLB Standings
    Spoiler

Some info on that not so good pitching. The starters arent the issue. Mike Fiers dropped his ERA from 3.19 to 2.83. Josh Johnson dropped his form 3.77 to 3.34. Jimmy Nelson's went up from 3.34 to 3.87. Matt Garza dropped his a full run from 5.53 to 4.40. The Marco Estrada signing is working out amazingly. in 9 games he is 6-1 with a 1.16 ERA, 58 strikeouts to 10 walks and a 0.98 WHIP. Wily Peralta came back from his injury on July 4th. And it was not a good start. 6 runs allowed in 4 innings. He started the last game before the break as well. Looked much better going 7 innings and giving up 2 runs. Working with a 6 man rotation right now. If Peralta cant keep pitching well though he will be moved to the pen full time or sent to AAA to figure his **** out.

As for the bullpen. Its horse ****. We called up Michael Kirkman and sent down Will Smith on June 5th. Kirkman is doing no better than Smith was. He has a 15.75 ERA in 8 innings. Johnathan Broxton came of the DL on the 28th. He is one of the better relievers right now with a 2.63 ERA. We sent Hiram Burgos to AAA. He wasnt really doing anything as the long reliever and had an ERA of ----------. We also sent Rob Wooten back to AAA he had a 5.59 ERA. We called up Jed Bradley to replace him. So far its looking pretty good. 2.25 ERA in 8 innings. When Peralta came off the DL we sent Jeremy Jeffress down to make room. He was terrible with an 8.64 ERA. So right now out pen is K-Rod (0.83 ERA, 23 saves), Neal Cotts (1.54 ERA), Corey Knebel (3.55 ERA), Broxton, Jim Henderson (4.66 ERA), Bradley and Kirkman with one of the 6 starters filling in as a long reliever if needed.

Offense is doing well but getting hurt. Scooter Gennett broke his wrist on June 11th. We recalled Jason Rodgers to replace him. And then on the July 1st Rodgers went down with a calf injury. Scooter should be back by mid August. Hopefully closer to the 1st week. Rodgers should be back in a week or two. Ryan Braun has been hot recently. He is now hitting .324 with 17 HR and 45 RBI. Khris Davis has continued his hot streak that started with the last 5 games of May. Since May 28th (27 starts) Davis is hitting .304 with 13 HR and 36 RBI. In that time he has had a 3 HR game and a different game where he had 7 RBIs. He had a 10 game stretch where he hit .414 with 6 HR and 17 RBI. Much improved from the .206 AVG, 13 RH and 37 RBI he had total in 2015.

In AAA, the bullpen is great. of the 6 reliever the highest ERA is Brandon Kintzler with a 2.04 He will be the next call up if needed. Moved Tyler Cravy from AA to AAA and in 6 games he is 3-1 with a 2.11 ERA. Not Not to many hitter playing well. Shane Peterson has the highest AVG at .283. Matt Clark leads the team in HR (16) and RBI (40) but is only hitting .228.

In AA, 1st round pick from last year Austin Beyer is hitting .281 with 10 HR and 31 RBI. If an outfielder was to get hurt. He could get a call up to make him playoff eligible if we were in a position to make the playoffs. Tom Beckham (5th round pick) has fell off a bit. Only hitting .257 now with a HR and 27 RBI. 16 of 18 on stolen base attempts as well. Victor Roache has 19 home runs and 58 RBI but all he can do is hit home runs with his .208 avg. Johnny Crum (2nd round pick last year) has a 3.13 ERA in 83.1 IP.

Really need some BP help. Might look to move one of the starters if they arent doing to well. Maybe a prospect or 2 if we dont completely fall apart at before deadline.

AL won the All Star game 5-4

Had one of the most unusual back-to-back HR combos you'll ever see...

I was tied 5-5 in the 8th using COL and SS Cristhian Adames barely got one out to RF in Coors making it 8-5. Pinch hit for the pitcher and Hak-Ju Lee steps in and hits a no doubter to right center. He has the hitting attributes of a AA player! Completely shocked to see this duo go deep

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

It's August 1st in my franchise and I have a comfortable five game lead in the AL East. In the AL Central, the Indians have taken advantage of mediocre play by the teams in their division as they have a 60-44 record, good for a 10.5 game lead in the division. That is the biggest lead of any division in my franchise. In the AL West the Angels and Rangers are tied for first in the division with the Astros trailing by just one game. In the wild card race, the Red Sox and O's have the top two spots locked down while the three teams atop the AL West are at least seven games out. It's looking like the AL East will send two teams to the playoffs this season.

The Cubs are clearly the class of the NL with an impressive 65-41 record. They just acquired Cole Hamels in a trade headlined by Kyle Schwarber and C.J. Edwards. This was surprising because they have the best record in the NL and the best team ERA in the NL. In any case, they're going for it. The Mets are only 2.5 games back in the NL East behind the Nationals, while the Dodgers and Giants are separated by half a game in the NL West. The NL Wild Card spots are held by the Brewers and Mets with the Giants four games behind the pace and the surprisingly competitive Diamondbacks just five games back.

As far my team goes, I have the best record in the game (66-37) by 2.5 games over the Cubs. I kind of gave up a quite a bit of prospects in trading for Scott Kazmir and Ben Zobrist, but I feel as if I drafted well enough to replace them. To acquire Kazmir and Zobrist, I sent 1B Greg Bird, RF Tyler Austin, SS Jorge Mateo, RP Jose Ramirez, and C Luis Torrens to the A's.

I'm definitely going to resign Zobrist this offseason, and if I can't land David Price, I will resign Kazmir to be the #2 behind Tanaka as Michael Pineda has been consistently inconsistent for me.

So frustrating. We started out winning 7 of the first 10 games after the all star break. But quickly fell back to our losing ways and finished the 2nd half of July and August with a 22-22 record. 65-67 overall. 4th in the central, 13 games back of St Louis. And 5.5 games back of San Diego for the 2nd wild card.

          MLB Standings / Playoff Race
          Spoiler

I think we finally got our bullpen figured out. Might be a little late in the year for it to matter though. K-Rod (31 SV, 1.86 ERA), Neal Cotts (1.28 ERA), Jed BRadley (1.17 ERA), Corey Knebel (3.26 ERA), Jonathan Broxton (3.41 ERA) and Jim Henderson (3.65 ERA). We sent Michael Kirkman down and called up Brandon Kinztler. In 9.2 IP he has a 1.86 ERA with a 0.93 WHIP. A lot better than what we had been dealing with.

Starters didnt change much. We ended the 6 man rotation fairly fast. Wily Peralta just wasnt consistent enough. We did keep him though he is our long reliever. Marco Estrada's amazing pitching has come to and end. He has a 3.42 ERA now. Which isnt bad for a 5th guy picked up off the streets in May. Fiers still the best pitcher with a 2.65 ERA. Josh Johnson is doing really well with a 3.03 ERA.

Offense is under performing but its been that way all year. And the injuries just keep coming. Scooter Gennett came back from his injury on August 6th. Then a week later we lost Jean Segura to a fractured forearm. He may be back as early as late September. But its more likely he will miss the rest of the season. Khris Davis is still doing good. Hitting .278 with 23 HR and 69 RBI. Braun is hitting .302 with 23 HR and 60 RBI. Lucroy only hitting .247. And Jason Rodgers still having to play because of the Segura injury is hitting just .232. Lind, Sardinas, Gomez and Gennett are hitting between .257 and .276.

In AAA, Not to much going on with the hitters. Ben Guez leads the team with a .264 AVG, Matt Clark has the most HR and RBI with 22 and 57. Tyler Cravy is 5-3 with a 2.44 ERA in 96 IP. Could see some starts when rosters expand if someone starts pitching poorly.

In AA, Austin Beyer's (1st round, 2015) AVG has fallen to .261. Still has a .351 OBP with 12 HR and 52 RBI. Victor Roache has 24 HR with 76 RBI. Still only hitting .214. Johnny Crum (2nd Round, 2015) has a 3.08 ERA in 143 IP. And Diego Moreno has a 2.91 ERA in 179.2 IP.

Not impossible but i dont see us making a run for that 2nd wild card spot. Just dont think we have it in us. The wild card race in both leagues looks to be really good again this year. And the AL central looks like its going to have the best finish of all the divisions.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

Just bought a PS4 after I got tired of RBI baseball on XBox 1. Using the BoSox, dynamic difficulty. Traded a handful of big time prospects to aquire Johnny Cueto and Aroldis Chapman. This game is definitely harder to trade for big name guys (even rentals) than any game I've played in the past. I'm 15-7 and a half game ahead of the Yankees for the AL East. I have taken the 1st 2 of a 3 game set against them. My pitching has been my strength (2.24 ERA) and my hitting has been a disaster. Pedroia (.335) Castillo (.297) Betts (.303) Swihart (.335 splitting catching duties) are the only guys hitting close to .300. Napoli (.220) and Hanley (.190) have been terrible. Mookie has 9 steals and Castillo also has 9. I definitely need another bat in the lineup, but it is hard to play with a team you love, because it's hard to trade away guys you want on your team. I should trade Napoli, but I can't because he was such a huge part of the 2013 championship team. I am playing about 2-3 games a night, after the baby and wife go to bed. I started 5-0, lost 5/6 and then have rebounded quite well.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

Just won 1-0 in 19 innings to put me at 3-8 over the last 11 games. My team is slumping hard. My pitching has been bad, I've been shutout 4 times in that stretch of games. Nothing is working. I am still clinging to 1st, but by only 2 or 3 games now.

I don't remember my exact record, but I believe it is around 47-36. I had one hot stretch where I won 12 of 15 or something like that, and since I have played pretty much .500 ball until this recent stretch. My 6-0 start and my 15 game hot stretch have been huge for me.

              My lineup consists of

Eric Young Jr who is somehow 2nd in the batting race with a .341 average this far into the year and leads the majors with 42 steals with his 99 speed/99 steal.

Jace Peterson who is playing much like his real life counterpart. Bounces from .270 to .280 consistently.

Freddie Freeman who is streaky. Currently sits at a .260 average with 16 HRs and around 45 RBIs.

Nick Markakis who had a long slump, but is returning to form and has raised his average back up to near .285 again.

Yasmany Tomas who was teraing it up with a .290 average and crushing the ball, but now he consistently lines out and sits around .270.

Starling Marte who was also around .290 and had a nice stretch of hitting the ball hard. Now he's around .265 with 8 HRs.

Andrelton Simmons who is having a bad year. 6 erros(though he leads the league in assists and despite his 6 errors, sits 3rd in the gold glove race because he gets everything hit at him it seems), but he is only batting .190 and cannot get it closer to .200 no matter what. He was batting .240 the first month, then plummeted and never came back.

I had Bethancourt up, but a .212 average sent him down. AJ plays a lot, but I am trying to find someone from the minors to play consistently too and it isn't happening. Might give Christian one more try to come back around. He was batting near .250 a good part of the year and was my leading batter in walks, but then he dove off of a cliff with Simmons.

              My rotation is

              Chris Sale
              Julio Teheran
              Chris Archer
              Alex Wood
              Shelby Miller

Teheran started 5-0 with a 1.00 ERA. Now he just is 7-4 with a 2.99 ERA. Sale has been good since acquiring him a few starts ago. Archer is a hard pitcher with good stuff, but he can be wild at times. Though he has been pretty good since I got him. Wood has been great. Something like 5-1 with a 2 ERA. Miller was terrible to start the year. He has bounced back to a 4-5 record with a 3.5 ERA. He just pitched 7 or 8 shutout innings in that 19 inning game, but got no decision as it went on 19 innings.

I've really brought in a lot of good arms in the pen too. Foltynewicz was my 5th starter, but fell off after a 3-0 start. He is now back up in the bigs as a long relief and pitched 6 shutout innings in the 19 inning game and got the win.

I normally don't make as many moves as I did in this franchise, but after a hot start to the year and my division being awful the first two months, I saw an opportunity. I pretty much only traded for guys on the block or who were on bad teams out of the race to keep it somewhat realistic. I didn't want to take a first place teams ace. Sale, though, is a top 3 pitcher, but for some reason Chicago has been down in this franchise, so I took him for a price(Traded off pretty much my top 3 prospects outside of Foltynewic. Sorry Wisler, I did want to keep you.)

I've drained my farm system, but I have built up a team where pretty much nobody outside of Markakis and AJ is older than 27-28 and pretty much all of my top 10 players on the team are under contract for 3-4 more years at the very least. So I have time to rebuild my farm system while this team should be competitive for years to come. I just need to find a catcher and this team is pretty complete all around.

In the standings screen it says I have the 3rd best team in contact, 1st in pitching, 2nd in speed, 2nd in defense, and 29th in power(which I have 48 HRs, the least amount). So I have built a very good team(though the Braves were halfway there already with Freeman, Teheran, Simmons, Wood, Markakis, etc.). The real roster just needed a few more pieces to round it off and I pretty much killed my farm to do it once I saw this was a potential playoff year and so far it's paid off as I sit in 1st.

Though I may have made a few too many moves than some here might like to keep it realistic, stepping out of my comfort zone and playing like this has made it the most fun I've ever had in a sports game before.

This is probably gonna sound crazy, but any advice on how to suck? Seriously. Sitting at 50-25 with the Mets in 2015 and 3/4 my team is below an 80 overall. I've played around 85% of the games and I've changed my sliders around so much. What pisses me off the most though is that I only serve up homers. One adjustment to the CPU Power slider and bam I give up 4 solo homers the next game. What's a good combo of sliders to play that its realistic?

To put it in perspective, I'm batting .260 as a team with a 2.27 team ERA. That's basically unheard of I think. Even the Nats is like 2.73 and they're second best. I K a lot, even with Colon and Neise. The thing is, I don't score often. I win a lot of games like 4-1, or 5-1, or 2-0. I lead the MLB with 16 shutouts. I want a fair approach, I don't want to keep destroying with my pitchers but I don't want it to get to the point where I'm dishing up 10 runs a game. Any hints?

What difficulty is your pitching set on? I play Allstar hitting and batting and offensive sliders are default. Pitcher control/consistency I play at 2/1 and it works great.

I use classic pitching and directional hitting though. If you play zone hitting and meter pitching that can easily allow you to be dominate. Just my opinion though.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

Playing a Braves franchise with 30-team control, Armor & Swords 1.4 sliders and Totte's backdated version of Willard's Revision roster. I decided to play the 1st game of the year (Cubs vs Cardinals) to avoid the "1st Homerun of Career" glitch, since playing the game was mentioned as a potential workaround in another thread. I already planned on playing 162 with my Braves, and now after this game, I think I'll be playing a "Sunday Night Baseball" game of the week every week to keep things fresh and get a view of how teams are doing around the league.

I played as the Cubs in this game. Lester got off to a slow start on the mound, giving up a 2-Run Triple to Wong in the 2nd. Grichuk followed with an RBI groundout, scoring Wong, to push the Cardinals lead to 3-0 early.

Lester helped himself with the lumber in the bottom half of the 2nd, driving an opposite field 2-run single off Wainwright to cut the deficit to 3-2.

From there, both starters settled in, though Wainwright struggled with command and pitch count all game. Wainwright lasted 6 innings, scattering 6 hits and 6 walks, but allowed just 2 runs, striking out 4.

Lester finished with 7.1 innings, allowing 5 hits and a pair of walks en route to 3 runs and striking out 4.

The Cardinals brought in Rosenthal to close things out in the 9th, but he got off to a shaky start to the 2015 campaign. Jorge Soler blasted a 3-2 hanging change-up down the left field line into the seats to knot the game at 3 to lead off the inning. Rizzo would make some noise driving the next pitch to the wall down the right field line, but Heyward would get under it for the out.

Things would continue to hold serve at 3-3 until the bottom of the 12th. Choate retired Coghlan on strikes, and Olt flied out to center in quick fashion setting the stage for David Ross, who already had tallied a Golden Sombrero in the game. Joe Maddon's faith in Ross paid off as he avoided his 5th strikeout of the game and deposited an 0-2 changeup into the left center field bleachers for a walkoff homerun! Neil Ramirez picked up the win, pitching 2 shutout innings and striking out 3.

What a way to start my franchise!

The 2016 Season is in the books. Very frustrating year all the way through. Some positives though. Mike Fiers was great. 2.57 ERA in 220.2 IP. Khris Davis had the best season of his career. Hit .277 and set career highs in HR and RBI. While missing the last month + of the season. Some really good pitching in the minors. Had a really good draft as well. We should be set on pitching in 2-3 years. Just need to get a few more hitting prospects.

Not to much drama over the last month. Of the 10 teams that were in playoff position at the start of September. Only the Twins ended up not making it. The Yankees went on a tear to take the AL East lead and send Toronto to the Wild Card. Yanks were 20-9 over the last month while the Jays went 11-18. Pirates had an even better month going 22-7 to take the NL Central from the Cardinals who went 14-14.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

Officially halfway through the 2015 MLB season, the American League defeated the National League 6-5 in 11 innings to capture home field advantage in this year's World Series.

With half of the season left, the New York Yankees sit atop the American League East half a game ahead of the Boston Red Sox. Well the Yankees 51 and 37 record may seem like a cakewalk the season hasn't been without its problems. The Yankees started the season with third baseman Chase Headley sidelined for a month. Early on, Alex Rodriguez's bat proved to be hot and carried the Yankees throughout the month of April.

As the months went on the Yankees bats all cooled down. With the offense not clicking pitching had to pick up the slack. Masahiro Tanaka and Michael Pineda have proven to be the best one-two punch in baseball this season with records of 11-2 and 7-3, respectively.

While the starting rotation has been dominant the same cannot be said for the bullpen, save for Betances and Miller . With the Red Sox closing in, the Yankees looked to upgrade their offense and made a trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Yankees sent the struggling Carlos Beltran and minor leaguer Eric Jagielo in exchange for Andre Ethier. The Dodger comes in with a hot bat, batting over 300.

Going into the second half of the season, the Yankees face another problem after Michael Pineda was sidelined before the All Star game with a shoulder separation injury. The pitcher will miss two to three months. In his place, the Yankees finally called up pitching prospect Luis Severino. Severino will make his first start when the Yankees return from the All-Star break.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

If you hear a sound that sounds vaguely like:

                          PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCCCCCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

                          Then, that will be me.

Game I just got done playing Marlins @ Rays - Marlins shut down through 6 and trail 4-1. They make it 4-3 heading into the 9th after getting a great relief outing from Cody Allen.

Marlins wasted some opportunities earlier, and almost wasted their last one against closer Jake McGee, but Chris Taylor tied it up with an RBI triple, his 8th triple of the season. Chris Davis, all 47 HR and 120-something RBIs of him, failed to get Taylor home. Thankfully, Carlos Gonzales did the job to give the Marlins the 5-4 lead.

But one rally deserves another it seems as Paco Rodriguez didn't have his stuff. The Marlins closer was looking for save number 35, but gave up two hits to start the 9th.

                          Paco, Paco, PACO!

But then he gets the next two batters so it's looking like he might settle down and get out of this.

Right? Right?! Yeah, Paco's got this now. He's settled in.

Billy Butler had other ideas. He lashed a change up down the right field line. Yelich got to the ball quickly and started the relay.

The throws were on point, but Eduardo Nunez, the runner on first, had too much speed and beat out the throw to give the Rays the walk off win.

                          PACO!!!!!!!!!!!

Sitting at 19-11 with the Red Sox, a half game behind NYY (just swept them, but then lost 2/3 to Tampa and 1/2 so far to Toronto). I am 5-1 against NYY, so they apparently don't lose to anyone else. We finally have had a Hanley Ramirez and Mike Napoli sighting. Hanley hit a homer and had 3 hits in the last game, and Napoli has raised his average from .190 to .240 in about 6 games. He also hit a go ahead 2-run homer in the 7th against Toronto. My ERA is getting better and better (2.11) but my offense overall still struggles. I probably have half of my wins coming when scoring 2 or even just 1 run. I'm near the top of the league in average, but bottom in runs. Still a work in progress. Henry Owens and Brian Johnson are dominating AAA and Yoan Moncada/Manuel Margot/Rafael Devers are all playing well in A. After I play this season, I will simulate 5 years or so and envision a team of Moncada, Margot, Betts, Bogaerts, Owens, Rodriguez, Johnson, Ball, Swihart, Vasquez, hopefully still Pedroia.

Somehow Tex is hitting .290 for me. Last games he was a triple short of the cycle.

Somewhat disappointing April 2016 for the Rockies. Super inconsistent in all areas. Need Blackmon/Rosario to pick it up badly!
