I mean we all miss changeups at times and we all hit changeups at times, but never have I had this much trouble with that pitch until now. It is literally mind boggling.

Which camera are you using? I've changed it to classic catcher 3 and raised pitch speed to 7, and I'm still struggling. It's getting to the point that I don't think I will be able hit this year because of how hard it is to read changeups.

Everyone in the game has the appearance of Glavine movement, but I don't want to change it to were the CPU is throwing meat pitches so I can hit. The timing window seems to have decreased this year as well. Kind of just considering going back to 14 and updating rosters.

Re: Is batting harder or is it just me?

I just started playing on E Offset Zoom and find it a little easier to read the breaking balls. I'm not really hitting them yet but I'm making contact with some of them and able to foul them off (I'm still early). At least its a start. I'm not sure if this is me finally getting used to it or the camera but I'll switch back later and see if the improved recognition sticks.

It's awesome that hitting is hard! Have you guys ever tried to turn on a 90mph fastball???? Not an easy thing. The best batters hit career .300 most avg guys around .260 That's one hit per game per player and maybe a walk to the good guys on average. Guys don't go 3 for 4 every game or 5 for 5. This isn't slow pitch it's baseball.

You're missing the point. We love that its a challenge and honestly I'm happy when I'm hitting .260 instead of .340. The problem is being rated 99 overall and 80-90 on hitting and batting .210 for the season.

This thread is about a group of people having trouble hitting in the game (mostly with the timing of offspeed pitches it seems) and helping find something about the way we play to improve. I don't think many (if any) are saying they need to fix or patch anything about it yet...

Re: Is batting harder or is it just me?

I'm having a tremendously difficult time hitting this year. As I stated in a previous post, I have scored one or no runs in each of my last six games and most of those runs were solo home runs. I cannot string any hits together for the life of me. It's becoming very frustrating. I've always played on All-Star (pretty much default sliders) and have been average. Never have I been this bad. I strike out about 10-15 times per game.

The main reason why is because of the inconsistencies of the hitting itself. I get a good pitch to hit, time it well, but I foul it off. This often happens twice and I find myself with two strikes having to protect. I'm really not sure how to start scoring runs and I absolutely refuse to drop to Veteran.

Re: Is batting harder or is it just me?

So I was having some problems hitting, here is what I did to get better (hall of fame difficulty).

Take pitches until you recieve a strike. Hopefully you'll be in a 1-1 or a 2-1 count, but regardless, take until you get a strike.

After I recieve a strike, I press R2 to bring up the guess pitch locator, and then either pick the upper part of the batter's box, or the lower part, depending on where the last strike was thrown.

If the pitcher last threw a high strike, the next strike is probably going to be in the lower half (and vice-versa), which is just something Ive picked up on. So use the guess pitch locator based on where the last strike was thrown.

Now, when you guess the zone of the pitch, it WILL light up red if the pitch is being thrown where you guessed, making it way easier to decide if you want to swing. If the pitch is in the correct zone I swing, if it is anywhere else, I take the pitch.

If you guess the zone incorrectly and find yourself down to one more strike, use the contact hit button to get yourself back into a hitter's count.

Tried this the past few games, have score 6,9, and 7 runs respectively on HOF diff after being completely blanked my first 3 game series.

I really don't know how to progress at this point.

Last year dynamic difficulty was the answer, I played until I found a level were my average and overall performance were realistic relative to my overall rating.

This year dynamic difficulty has me bouncing around between All-Star and All-Star+ despite the fact that I'm now at .256 with a 90 overall rating. I've tried playing veteran and rookie with inconsistent results.

I also tried directional hitting, but that resulted in a lot of flyouts.

I struggle immensely with off-speed pitches down in the zone. I find it incredibly difficult to hit change-ups, curve balls, and sliders; they look like they're going down the middle but end up dipping below the strike zone, it's incredibly difficult to judge. Sometimes I feel like my timing was late, but the game says that I'm early; it's weird and puzzling at times.

Kk.... sorry if I came off a little edgy last night. Curious what kind of hitting you guys are doing? I'm at all star without DD. I don't have the strike zone up. And using no reticle with zone hitting. It just shows me where I aimed after the swing with red yellow or green mark. This is going to sound weird but one thing that improved my hitting was turning the sound off. I noticed this more in Rtts at first. With the sound on the whistle of a fastball coming and a curve ball or change up didn't sound all that different or even different at all. So I'd hear the whistle and thing ohhhhhh here comes the heater! And be way out in front. I muted the tv so the wife could watch a show on the lap top and found it easier to time the ball.... maybe crazy but this is what I found for me. Maybe there is a spot to turn pitch sound off. Just a thought. I've never tried directional. I like the zone hitting

Don't get me wrong I still get caught on the change up or a high heater but that's ball...
I also am very conservative at the plate. I take lots of pitches if I can

I've been struggling as well since I got called up to the majors. Then I struck out on a pitch that I knew there was no way I missed, so I went back to review the footage. I didn't miss it, but the ball morphed straight through my bat!

Well I have the same Problem in Rtts with hitting, but not in Franchise mode. Do not know why.

It seems to me All Star this year is playing like Hall of Fame last year, but pitchers are varying their pitches better. And the 4 seem fastball FINALLY seems to have life to me.
