Re: I am getting REALLY tired of the game deciding you aren't going to catch a fly ba

Are some of you serious? That ball clearly should have been caught but because it had to make him stop and then trigger a stumble over animation he didnt. It should have been a relatively easy catch in stride at that point.

I get he came across as kinda douchey in the beginning and some of you like the need to defend things to no end but cmon. That ball should have been caught. Stuff like that needs to be fixed.

20 Minutes ago I dropped a ball that bounced out of my glove with Cameron Maybin, lead off triple. Makes me want to shut the game off. Way too many fly balls dropped, but the bigger problem is it not being ruled an error and it costing my pitcher an earned run.

      Nonsense.
That marker did not move.(except for the wind....and it was obvious throughout the flight of the ball)
You're reaching(here....obviously not reaching hard enough in the game though)

Yeah, that one wasn't a routine fly either. It was also probably the CF'ers ball. And they almost collided. Not routine at all.

I can't seem to get the second video to load, but the more I watch the first one, the more I'm convinced this game can be brilliant. Here's a few observations:

          1) I never thought of it this way, but the ball icon is meant to represent what the catcher is seeing; or even what he THINKS he's seeing! I guess maybe I've always known that, but I never thought about the possibility that the OFer might not be accurate in what he's seeing.

          2) Blackmon just straight up lost track of the ball. A few things seem to factor into this; the sun is directly overhead and he is about to run into the wall. Watch the slow-mo replay again; right before the icon jumps, he's looking around for the ball! When he get's sight of it again, the icon jumps.

The game, in order to be a sim, simply can't strictly rely on the users skill. Stats HAVE to be involved, and this is an example of your "dice roll" failing. I feel this is represented BRILLIANTLY in the first video, and frankly, I don't think it should be any other way. Honestly, I can't conjure up any other way this could work.
Whoa, whoa, whoa! You mean to tell me there are sports other then Baseball?!

i saw exactly what he was saying with the first video, not only was he exactly where the ball cursor told him to be, but it actually started the animation to make a catch and then switched it on him.

It seems like an edge case and not something to get worked up over, but sucks he got banned. He's just venting.

This same thing happens to me all the time. He got banned for getting upset about a problem with the game? Wow.

We don't discuss bans openly but to be clear he did not get banned for having an issue with the game and pointing it out.

If that was a bannable offense we would have a lot more pink names around here.

That said, feel free to continue to discuss this topic as there is nothing wrong with the conversation.

Wow... I agree this happens and I lose diamond dynasty alot with my created guy, harper, and puig not able to judge where balls will land and leaning or falling over compensating too late. Sorry to see he got banned its a huge huge problem to me.

This is a very frustrating issue for me. I have had this happen to me enough, where it is causing major frustration.

I've had it happen a lot where my fielder goes to the maker and doesn't look up for the ball and it drops over his head. It seems to only be a problem with certain players. I had Jeff Francoeur have an error in 7 straight games with this happening. I eventually just bumped up his Fielder Ability. It doesn't seem to be a problem since then. But He has 9 errors a month into the season!

The ball isn't getting dropped guys... it's not landing where the ball marker says it is going to, or the ball marker completely changes spots at the last second. It happens in the middle of the outfield and happens at the wall. Watch the video.

Happens a bit too often (maybe double the rate I'd prefer to see) but I think in most cases it's simply a matter where it's never going to look or feel pretty. Fielders are going to miss balls. Whether it looks "wonky" or not is inconsequential. The result of the play is the result of the play.

I'd also suggest it's tied to the fielder's history: if an OF has 7 errors through 12 games, bet your butt his next fly ball is a 60/40 proposition too. Conversely, a guy who's been stellar in the OF will likely continue to be so, relatively speaking.

Wow never thought to try challenges as a means to practice specific fielding scenarios I'm having trouble with. Thanks for this. I'll have to try it.
