The online portion of the game is far from awful this year and actually is quite enjoyable. I will say the outfield play is off for online, the marker is not totally accurate for determining the ball's landing spot. I have adjusted by getting the player to the suction zone and letting the animations complete the play.
I am getting REALLY tired of the game deciding you aren't going to catch a fly ball

Did they stealth patch this? In the some ten games I've played since the 1.03 I don't think I've dropped any fly balls (maybe one or two, but nothing like before where it was quite literally once per game, sometimes more), and I even play with the ball marker turned off. Seems like now I can be out of position by a good 5-7 feet and guys will still make the play for me.Comment

Think that's bad? As a Shortstop in MLB 11 for the PSP -- I don't know if this still happens -- the game would literally stop you from catching routine grounders. It would stop you in your tracks just before you caught it, and you'd just stand there as it went right past you.
Similar stuff would happen on double plays as a shortstop. 2nd baseman catches it, I'm on my way to 2nd, 2nd baseman makes a quick flip -- and my guys stops halfway to 2nd base to catch it, one or both runners are safe.
Simply put, animations need to be cleaned up defensively, or misplays need to look better.Comment

Re: I am getting REALLY tired of the game deciding you aren't going to catch a fly ba
After my first 3 games i was good but recently its been atrocious. I had back to back errors with gardner and ellsbury. In both instance the batter ended up on 3rd. Very frustrating when they cover ground and make carches like willie mays but then miss a ball when camped under it.
The fielders far too often dont face home at the end of the animations.Comment

This is my $0.02...
I have played every console baseball game since the Sega Genesis, so I consider myself fairly knowledgable of how to field a game of video game baseball. I'm 22 games into my Nationals franchise and here are the OF error numbers so far:
Harper - 3
Span - 4
Werth - 5
McLouth - 2
My infielders have combined for 9.
Something is definitely different for the worse this year.Last edited by bloodwerth; 06-03-2015, 03:16 AM.Comment

I lowered the throwing and fielding sliders for both infield and outfield and am still seeing errors multiple times per game. The outfielders can't throw anything accurately.Comment

Re: I am getting REALLY tired of the game deciding you aren't going to catch a fly ba
I had 4 errors in the last game.
Ellsbury did the piruoette on a routine fly ball and let up an inside the park hr, botched another ball he was camped under, beltran joined the party as well letting one twist him up for a triple, and gardner misplayed a regular pop up in foul territory which somehow was called an error. the out would have ended the game.
the jays then scored 3 times in that 9 the inning to win the game.
oh this wonky fielding is killing me.

You "lowered" the sliders for throwing and fielding for everyone, and then you're saying the accuracy and strength of their throws got worse? Call me crazy, but I think you need to be "raising" these sliders.
Unless I'm misunderstanding you, which is possible because my wife says I can be quite dense sometimes, LOL.Sports are good.

Re: I am getting REALLY tired of the game deciding you aren't going to catch a fly ba
Glad to see I'm not the only one struggling to catch fly balls in the OF. They definitely made things more difficult over '14 and I don't like it. I thought I would've gotten used to it by now but just about every single game one of my OF'ers is screwing up a catchable ball and ruining the 'sim' experience.Comment

Just lower the error sliderComment

I've noticed this too, but it's not nearly as annoying as when the outfielders decide to take their sweet time getting the ball into the infield. 3 times this year I've had guys score from second on a "sac fly" because I catch the ball on the run (throws already loaded) and instead of hustling the ball in, he'll turn, take a couple seconds and casually toss the ball to the cut off man!
It happens on balls hit to the wall as well, the game is terrible at reading situations and having players behave accordingly at times.Comment
