I would like to see more errors by the cpu, they seemingly play perfect defense. Any chance an infielder has a chance to make a diving stop, they make the play and throw me out. Defense ratings for the cpu don't seem to matter. Diving plays in the outfield are caught 9 times out of 10. Fly balls in the outfield hang up in the air way too long, I never see anything get past an outfielder unless it's a line drive shot in the gap or if it hits the wall. Line drives are hit right at the corner infielders too often. I have yet to see a liner hit over a 1st or 3rd basemen and then tail into the corner. I could keep going as there a good amount of tiny things that don't ruin the game but are frustrating. This is still the greatest sports game to ever exist, but there are some things I would like to see changed/fixed so it truly feels unpredictable like baseball.

if your pitching to one side of the plate or the other... if you miss your meter high it goes more to your left of the plate. if you miss low (right of the line) it goes to your right more. believe me i know all to well about this... my walks are off the charts high this year for my pitchers. i am averaging per pitcher on my team 3+ walks per game.
they seem to want to make meter harder to use year after year after year... why... leave it alone... let us who use it have it and have fun with it... the reason we choose to us it is that it IS easier to use than the other interfaces..."Baseball is life, without Baseball life itself ceases to exist." - Ken SpragueComment

There meter thing is crap to me. If you miss the spot it should be random where it goes. The meter isnt just a high or low placement. Since when can all pitchers put the ball exactly where they want to horizontally but not vertically? The farther you miss the spot on the meter the farther the ball could miss left/right and up/down.Comment

I agree with this 100%.
There should be a variance based on the pitchers ratings that determine how drastic the miss is as well.Comment

Re: With all they've tweaked with gameplay, there's still so much more they didn't...
Exactly. Your spot on the meter dictates where the pitch is, but the ratings can dictate how badly. For example, if you just miss the meter a smidge late and the pitcher has a poor control rating, the pitch can either be right down broadway or in the dirt. It won't be high. But if the pitcher's control is solid, missing the meter a smidge late would have the pitch just a touch low as it should be based on the late meter touch. The way it is now, I can be badly late on the meter and the pitch can sail high. That just isn't realistic.Comment

Do you guys feel the interaction between the pitcher and batter is choppy at times? MLB 14 felt soooo much smoother in that area. U guys agree?Comment

So miss high the pitch goes high miss low the pitch goes low. That is fine as long as the pitch is also gonna miss left or right as well.Comment

As a pitcher this is how it should be.
Quite honest you could just get rid of a meter and have spots during the motion where you release the ball.
So if you release a pitch a bit early it will be arm side a bit more.

I could be wrong but I don't think anyone disagrees with that. You said random which means something completely different.Comment

Honestly this is a great idea. They could just add an entirely new (and tons more realistic) pitching mechanism where you have to perform different analog movements or button presses or something at different times to simulate a pitcher's mechanics.Comment

I do want to add that I can't say this does or doesn't happen personally since I turn the pitch marker off so I can't compare but I'm going off what's been said.Comment

I think it can work ideally with a meter (not disagreeing with you), to me the meter represents the ideal release for the spot you've chosen. Releasing early would be both high off the mark and to the right (as a righty), with the amount of miss being determined by ratings.

Some of the variation in pitch release is already tied to the pitcher's arm angle, so when your timing is early, you tend to miss in the arm side and vice versa.
This is the distribution of pitches when you keep aiming down the middle. This is left-handed pitcher looking from behind the catcher, and you can see that the distribution follows roughly the 3/4 arm action.Attached FilesComment
