MVP digital. Might not use the packs and stubs much but felt like SDS earned more of my money this year.

Really thrilled with the game and the dev team is unbelievable! They seems to care for the gamers, unlike other studios (I'm looking at you EA Tiburon - Rory Mcilroy PGA)

If you do not play online I would never buy above the standard version. You can get sponsorships for franchise, but those aren't really that in demand so you could probably save some stubs up and buy the ones you want on the market.

Probably the MVP Steelbook pre-ordered through Gamestop to get those extra 5 packs.

I really liked DD last year even though I never played online, strictly against the CPU. Building the teams, opening packs, playing the market, creating the uniforms was a blast. So I'll want to at least play around with it again this year, and spending that extra $10 will get me something like 17 packs, plus 5k stubs that I can use to buy 5 more packs.

It's really the opening day pack that matters. With the captains and collections having more cards will be an advantage early one. Since they value that at $25 I'm expecting a lot of lower to middle level cards and one gold+ card.

Sure, but I'm not really inclined to buy the $100 version to get 3 opening day packs.

17 packs = 10 standard packs from the pre-order + 5 standard packs for going through Gamestop + 1 Opening Day pack + 1 Sponsor Pack (not sure what that is but they value it at $5). Plus 5k stubs to buy 5 more standard packs, or I'll see if they have any $5 special packs available.

Just getting the regular version since I only play season mode and could care less about packs.
P.S. I really hope they drop PS3 next year, supporting the old platform only holds back the developers.

You missed my point. The one opening day pack you get with the MVP is what matters in that version. The 10 packs and 5k stubs are nice, but they don't add up to what the opening day pack is advertised as ($25). You say 17 packs, but I see it more as 15 packs, 1 sponsor pack, opening day (equivalent 25 packs).

By the way I think all versions get another 10 packs for preordering so in actuality the MVP comes with 20 packs+5k stubs and standard also comes with 10 packs if you preorder. This also applies to the download version as per PS blog so every version gets another 10 packs and rookie card. Not sure what the rookie card is since they say "rep". Assuming it's just one rookie version card for DD.

If the marketplace is like it was last year I don't think it'll be too difficult to earn what is being offered with the MVP or Deluxe edition.
Marketplace will have a higher tax this year.

From the stream, it sounded like they were not big into marketplace stuff.

The tax is actually an important economic concept. I know to some this sounded like some BS to some when they said it on the stream, but it is part of the reason why the market had such wild fluctuations over the course of 15. Look forward to a little more stability in this year's market.

Ahh ok I see your point now. I didn't realize that the Opening Day pack was the equivalent of 25 standard packs. I know they've called it a $25 value but I just figured it was because they would give you like 2-3 guaranteed golds or something like that. Do you really get the same amount of cards as 25 standard packs? I haven't actually seen this clarified anywhere.

I don't think its that they weren't big on the marketplace. I just think they felt they didn't need to get too much into it, because besides the tax change, I don't think the marketplace will change all that much from last year.

The marketplace itself is an important tool and plays a significant part in the pack buying and collection/team building process.

They didn't say that explicitly, but said several times that the $25 pack will have to be worth $25. If a standard pack has 8 cards (6 player cards) then it may not be exactly 150 player cards and 50 equipment/sponser cards. But it will have to be close if they think anyone is going to pay $25 for one pack. They did state it would have ONE gold player or better. Not sure if they meant at least or only one card will be gold.

Wow I hope your right. That's a lot of packs for starters. I plan to jump right into DD until OSFM drops.

                              Digital Deluxe here.

I'm going to play more DD this year in addition to my RTTS player.

Some MOM for more "realistic" game play.

                              I really enjoy this game.
