Using someone else's quote here. Listen to people, and stop reading data for crying out loud.

316 replies and 24 thousand views this thread has. And it's not like it's the same 4 dudes posting over and over. Yeah, clearly no one cares about Online Franchise. Well, except SDS. Who make a habit of popping into all the big threads....except this one. Smh.

They've popped in here like MAYBE a total of 3 times, twice was russell commenting on some stuff (which I don't think made a difference) and most recently "Adam_SDS" to "confirm" that Online Franchise is in the game this year, but just as it was last year, in MLB 15 and MLB 14 (although 14 was the best iteration and the worst netcode for online)

Honestly his comment made no sense to me whatsoever, unless we're going to hear about Online Franchise on a different day, but the remaining schedule for the streams/vlogs is as such:

14th - Road To The Show "Pave Your Path" [vlog]
16th - Road The The Show and C.A.P. - Deep Dive [stream]
Player model improvements, crea-a-player revamp, and "PYP"
23rd - Graphical improvements - Deep Dive [stream]
Lighting, grass tech, new head rig, classic stadiums tour, etc...
TBD - The Show 17 developer tournament & AMA.

See any mention of online play or online franchise in there? Because I don't...

Honestly, no love for the online franchise community, it's disappointing to say the least.

I'm a strictly offline franchise guy and even I was uncomfortable watching them sidestep the online franchise part in today's stream. I feel that if they're going to call it a "separate mode," then they should have a separate stream for it, which should already be on the stream schedule. It seems like they feel that you online franchisers will be happy enough playing offline franchise for your franchise fix and DD games for your online fix.

Today, we also learned that they have just 1 programmer working on franchise mode and that seems like stretching a guy real thin to update both offline and online components.

Appreciate you seeing it from our end as well. And yeah I get that its a small dev team. I am not trying to make it sound like its an easy task, or that its a TOP priority. I just want to know what is the roadmap for Online Franchise? Is there a future or is it going to sit like this?

Im not even going to try and understand how hard it would be to make it a mode where the offline and online are the same (Ex: Madden). That's a perfect world, and most of us are not even asking for that much. We are asking for fixes to bugs that have been in the mode for 4 years now.

The last 2 years, we have gotten a one minute response from the dev's. I really feel like I am getting screwed over. Online Franchise's introduction was a big deal in MLB14, they made it almost identical to offline (minus the minor leagues playing games, which is fine for many reasons). But they never fixed the insane amount of problems that plague the mode.

Just something simple as players getting hurt, players getting tired, being able to edit players etc.. theres so many more, but just those basic things that a baseball game should have.

I just want an answer, and I am sorry but a response of
"Only X amount of players play the mode, so we didnt feel the need to spend time on it" is a bogus response.

Because when they introduced the mode in MLB14 the online component of MLB was still very bad. Games online were largely unplayable like previous years. And the bugs in online franchise didnt help player numbers. And has gone untouched since. I mean how can you launch a mode, half broken, barebones and then say that its not getting attention because nobody plays it?

Sorry for the long post. It just REALLY irks me, since this is the only mode I play. Literally. I understand the frustration of the offline guys with today's announcement's as well, but hell Id kill for the online to have all of that.

                Re: Online Franchise

Updating offline doesn't need to be done. If us online franchisers had what offline had, that would great. Their egos are the problem.

                  Re: Online Franchise

On the flipside though, if there are bug fixes, those might go unannounced until the game comes out. In other words, even if they devoted time to fixing some of the legacy issues in online franchise, they might not feel the need to have a stream dedicated to just announcing bug fixes without making any major additions to the mode. Might only find that out when the game releases.

I think they did say that they've added a presentation package to online modes. If you go back to the presentation/commentary stream, you should see them talk briefly about that.

It's not all gloom and doom, you're right about the presentation packages. That will be nice, coupled with the better commentary and these games should feel like you're actually playing in a franchise and not 28-162 exhibition games.

People need to stop giving them a pass on this it is absurd either fix what is broken or remove the mode completely. Again, the online franchise community knows more about the mode then its own devs trust me I have had talks with some of the team about workarounds they had no clue about. Going on 4 years now untouched and worse today than when first implemented. I know I would be embarrassed if my work failed over the years.

Don't forget this swell bug. Last year had our Angels GM send down Pujols to AAA and that massive contract became a 1 yr 3.7 mil dollar deal.

This is why only looking at data is dangerous. You cannot compare activity in a mode like DD to things like online or offline franchise where folks are starting "and not finishing" a franchise because maybe they are just testing things, etc.

The fact that there's a day dedicated to "lighting/grass tech" is all you need to know when it comes to waiting on improvements to online franchise mode.
