In my test round robin online franchise with 16 teams, after all of the games completed in the regular season, the playoffs started automatically. No issues except for what I mentioned above concerning where the teams are placed in the bracket. 1 vs 8 and 2 vs 7 are on the same side of bracket. They need to be on opposite sides or the top 2 teams can never meet in the World Series.

Seriously they did not change the schedule??? It's the 2015 schedule?? This is simply inexcusable. I am a self proclaimed fanboy of the Show and a long time suffering online franchise player. It's the only mode I play, in fact it's the only game I play. How much resources does it take to put it the 2016 schedule? How difficult is it to fix the playoff seeding? 50K is what 10% of the folks that buy the Show? What other company would not only disregard 10% of their customers but basically tell them to eff off?? I am not trolling and I LOVE the Show and I will play it regardless but this is a huge let down. The only saving grace is that we have guys like me that love playing online franchise and are willing to put up with the game's limitations and it's still a blast. I could only imagine if they gave this mode just a little TLC how awesome it would be. Bottom line no one can defend their actions wrt how they neglected this mode. Heck I am sure a ton of folks with gaming design skills would happily volunteer to work on the game for free to make simple changes that would bring this mode to an acceptable level.

For MLB 15, they sold over 1 million copies. And only 50K of those people played online franchise compared to 500K who played offline franchise. So 50K is less than 1% of those that bought the game. Don't know where you got they only sold 500K.

He's referring to online vs offline, but hey, there ya go. Insult the customer because it wasn't exactly clear. Although I knew what he meant. Hmmm.

Fair enough but 50K is 5% of 1 million and I was using the 500K of online players which I guess is mainly DD players but whatever....my point is that it's no excuse not to, at the bare minimum, put in the 2016 schedule and fix the playoff seeding regardless of how many people play the mode. It should be something they do just because it's the right thing to do.

              Re: Online Franchise

So apparently in a ROUND ROBIN scheduling design I still only play the Oakland Athletics one time. I play the rest of the teams three times. And then the Brewers play the Cardinals 0 times.

Honestly do they just not test any of this stuff? This is downright embarrassing. Half my league can't get into a game, then the other bugs like this just make you wonder why you bother to put your time/money into this mode and game.

And to top it off when I try to report the bug on SCEA's site I get this:

              504 Gateway Time-out
The server didn't respond in time.

this has got to be the worse online release ever for this series, constant failed connections while trying to play friends and league opponents. Then to have league game resets take up to 24 hours to reset is inexcusable. You can try to play the same opponent several times and get constant connection failures only to venture into DD and connect right away (if youre lucky).

                      Re: Online Franchise

It's kind of funny that when the whole 50k vs 500k thing first came up, it was presented as the excuse for not touching the mode in this latest dev cycle. And while that still proves to be a tough pill for us swallow, I don't think any of us thought that excuse LITERALLY meant they weren't working on the mode.

The 2015 schedule was the first clue otherwise, and is honestly really disappointing to see from a team like SCEA.

But whatever, I was assuming we were all just going to move on and replay the same product we played through last year, except now we can't even do that...

I'm not exactly sure what the issue is that is causing all of these failed challenges, but it seems like all of the other modes are at least performing at a somewhat functional level.

What worries me is that they may have actually just cut and paste with online franchise from 15, and that now the mode is broken to the degree that it didn't receive enough attention to keep up with the other net code changes and upgrades.

Purely speculation, but I'm very worried about the mode to this point.

Progression is screwed up too. It doesn't show when your players progress, you basically have to keep a spreadsheet to see any progress your players make.

Oh and the progression system is completely different online/offline.

Offline players don't gain speed and pitchers don't gain velocity on their pitches. Not online though of course. Why have two completely different progression systems?

SCEA I applaud you for improving franchise mode. But I’ll stop there. You spend most of the time improving Diamond Dynasty from MLB14-15 and again between MLB15-16. And that’s ok. It makes you guys money and there is nothing wrong with that. I wont bash you for that. BUT

You say to the public that Online Franchise wasn’t played much in MLB 14, well that was due to the fact that online was unplayable.

Then in MLB 15 is playable online because of stability fixes, but none of the franchise features from MLB 15 made it into online.
Then in MLB 16, with all the NEW and GREAT features in Franchise mode they decide not to put ANY in MLB16 Online Franchise.

This is a mode that was pretty much identical to offline in MLB 14. And not touched in 2 YEARS. This is ridiculous. I like to play with 2 or 3 friends in the same division. There is nothing more fun then fighting after the same free agents or going after the same prospects and fighting for the top of the division.

Can SCEA just come out and say why? I mean there are other issues in the mode, no position player fatigue, schedule is identical year to year, no all stars, injuries don’t work, said it was opening day all year with on field patches, Wrigley ivy stayed dead, and many more.

Is this mode apart of the future or no? This news completely deflates my anticipation for the game. They talk about how the mode isn’t used a whole lot in MLB 14 because of horrible online stability, and then abandon it 2 years in. If its not part of the future please tell us NOW!
                          eric7064,

I feel your pain even though I play player lock offline franchise mode only. When it was mentioned and kind of laughed at on the Twitch stream that the numbers for offline franchise mode we’re far greater compared to those of online franchise mode so naturally the development time decisions only wen’t to offline franchise mode because each mode uses a different code base and they only have one guy working on the mode.

At the time I didn’t really understand why the information about the numbers was frowned upon on the Twitch stream until I purchased MLB 16 and realized most of the player lock features that gave a user a choice were removed. Especially considering that the options had been consistent in both MLB 14 and MLB 15 both games in which I purchased and played 162 game seasons.

After looking into why the features were removed I found out that I was apart of the 0.04% of the people who liked playing the game using those player lock features. Considering that number is not even 1% it was enough to warrant a change or removal.

MLB 16 is a improved experience and does shine in some places but the amount of focus on the new modes in MLB 16 has given me some clarity on where the series is going. You can take a look at the home screen designs from MLB 14, MLB 15 and MLB 16 to see which modes from a design perspective have been giving the most visual weight! This is a telling sign! Its all about marketing from this point on!

I highly doubt they will ever add back a set of features after stripping them down to promote faster gameplay. Even if MLB 17 came out on a 4K PS4 where the cleats and grass blades look so real they can be touched! MLB 16 will most likely be the last version of the game I will buy simply because I personally like a true to life or as close a possible baseball experience in a video game.

I have played baseball pretty much for most of my life. I always remember I had one friend that would often say how can you watch baseball it takes so long and its so boring! I guess you have to love the game to understand why it takes time and shouldn’t be sped up even if it is a video game.

Somehow I feel the number is bigger than 0.04%! Unfortunately that’s the way the cookie crumbles for those of us that don’t meet the numbers!

Agreed. If all of us unimportant online franchise guys didn't buy it next year, that would lose them at least 4 million in sales. Think that would get attention?

Yes this is a MAJOR glitch. The season starts on April 3rd instead of April 1st so two games from your schedule are gone. Pretty inexcusable that this glitch is in.
