I like to think of it this way, if offline franchise had all these bugs and issues it also wouldn't get 500k users. And there's probably be a 100 page thread on it.

I understand we are the "45k minority. But we are 45k because of a BROKEN mode. If it wasn't broke fir 2 years (not to mention online was unplayable the first) then maybe we would be at a Strong 100k. But to say it's a numbers gm, more people play offline is frankly a outrageous reason to not make changes to the mode.
    1. Couldn't have said it better myself, if this was an offline franchise issue then the cry for help would be even louder and more than likely heard. I too understand that we're in the minority, but that doesn't justify why the OF code has been untouched for so long.

    2. They introduced this mode into the game during a period where the game was literally unplayable online, the stability wasn't there and how do you expect a full league of 30 to even function when you can't even play a game?

Yeah, you fixed the stability and the experience for MLB 15 was much much better, thus showing "improvement" in that aspect (an improvement that had NOTHING to do with OF, mainly to promote online play as a whole) and then we come into MLB 16 with the same issues we've been dealing with since MLB 14.

The code hasn't been significantly touched (if at all) since 2014......

I don't agree or disagree with this, but offline franchise doesn't generate revenue whatsoever, and look at the love it's been given over the years.

Love this game, but there is clearly something wrong when it appears that the community is more knowledgeable about the intricacies and inner workings of their own mode?

well yes it does in a way as you can purchase stubs for sponsorship and in the past use stubs for more team revenue

You are correct, but I'd like to think that the likelihood of someone doing so would be slim, I mean the sponsor packs aren't very expensive and if you've pre ordered you'll likely get a good chunk in your free packs.

But again, you are right and that could influence their focus, no matter how small it may seem.

Like others have said. Would it be nice if the game was like Maddens and online/offline was the same thing? Yes, of course! But would almost all of us be happy with a basic franchise mode that worked without fear of a game breaking bug. Most definitely.

I'm also dissapointed that with strong presence that SCEA has on this board they haven't posted in this thread yet. I've seen them respond over and over to the sounds of the show question which was out of their control. But they can't even acknowledge what is slowly becoming a pretty size able and active thread? It's disappointing.

Probably because they don't have much to say. Just going to cause more of an uproar if not now... When 17 comes and it's still the same still. Who knows. I'm sad they still can't get with the times and have a companion app as the mobile web interface is horrid.

Look at it this way, that number is still bigger than the number of players who play Online Franchise, even if it's a one-time purchase.

Another conflicting view is (and not saying you, since I quoted you) when guys make comments about SDS needing to hire more people to work on different modes (the 1 person "doing" online and offline franchises should not be taken literally), but then heavily oppose revenue building additions like DD, BR, Conquest, etc. That additional revenue opens up the chance of growing the team.

This is what happens when there is no competition. They are the only game in town and have no reason to fix it.

I've been someone who has said they'd need to hire on some help in order to truly improve all of the areas we'd like, and I understand why modes such as DD help do this, which is why I remain optimistic for MLB 17, but like you said to begin your post, it all comes down to numbers and I'm hoping that they have some sort of plan in place where this year's OF numbers don't dictate whether the mode stays or goes.

That's a whole different ball game, the sponsors add another variable to the presentation, with it being added onto the stats overlay, and I also believe it's implemented into replay wipes, so it would force them to then work outside of the "fast" presentation mode that they use for all online modes.

i know nothing about making video games but i bet that online franchise uses a ton of space on the servers and that's just for a franchise to be created let alone whether people are actually playing them. we all know that people create multiple online franchises and then someone cheats and the league falls apart but the league never gets deleted where as these new modes people can come and go without any commitment to a league. plus they need to make money. i just hope they find a way to fix online period to make it smooth. i haven't played since 14 and my connection was not top notch but compared to my other games i played online it was noticeably inferior. i did however move to a bigger city and the internet company from where i am from is a joke so i may get back into online.
