Re: Online Franchise
I'm convinced that with all the bugs the online franchise has, they aren't going to touch it until the offline franchise phase is complete.
I remember someone from their team saying that they had a plan with the offline franchise. So I'm assuming that with the small window they have and small team they can only do so much with the mode.
Once they get the offline mode to where they like it, then they will give the Online Franchise some love.
I'm not going to throw a rant about them here (I'll do it in private with my friends haha), they deliever a great game every year and we can't let one mode distract us from that.Comment

Re: Online Franchise
I would not bet on it myself.
Their biggest priority year after year is probably to convince the greatest number of current players to buy the game again. That means continually making changes to the most played modes (RTTS and DD).
Diamond Dynasty is the cash cow. People buying the more expensive Digital Deluxe Edition are doing so for the packs. People who are obsessed with building their teams are buying card packs and stubs to help build their team through the marketplace.
RTTS (and to a lesser degree Franchise) also have the potential to generate income after the sale as they both use the card system to a lesser degree (Equipment and Sponsorships) and can benefit from purchasing stubs.
Online franchise is probably one of, if not the least played mode. Unless they can figure out a way to monetize it. I don't expect to see it get much love as the team spends year after year trying to retain their RTTS and DD players while drawing in new players.
It sucks but I have a feeling that it is pretty close to the truth. That said I think they should work on fixing the actual bugs in the mode if they keep the mode in the game.Comment

But that's the key... you can only do so much improvements to a DD or RTTS that codes permit you.
That's why I feel like they will pick a random year to overhaul the online franchise.
It can also be that they don't know how to code certain features into online play. Remember offline and online have different coding in certain aspects.

Online Franchise
I think you may have hit the nail on the head. I think in order to really overhaul online you have to look at doing something more like they did with madden. Obviously that will be no small feat. That may be something they are planning for next gen(purely speculation).
My hope in the interim is that they would at least address some of the issues that are there.

Re: Online Franchise
They have no other competition so why should they invest all their time into putting all the features in the game in one year.
Then next year we will ask for more regardless.Comment

Re: Online Franchise
People need to stop giving them a pass on this it is absurd either fix what is broken or remove the mode completely. Again, the online franchise community knows more about the mode then its own devs trust me I have had talks with some of the team about workarounds they had no clue about. Going on 4 years now untouched and worse today than when first implemented. I know I would be embarrassed if my work failed over the years.
This is not a thread to disparage developers. I get that you guys are angry, but keep this thread constructive or I'm going to shut it down and start dealing out the consequences.Comment

Re: Online Franchise
I'm sure they know very well that if there is no other competition they can have a slow development cycle.

Sports games do not compete with same sport games - they compete with everything that can be on your console instead.
All sports games get this same argument - "If NFL 2K was still around Madden would be better", "If NBA Live was around NBA 2K would fix their game".
So you're telling me all 3 major sports game devs are slacking due to lack of competition?
The Show wants their game in your console for 12 months a year. Period. They are working towards that and unfortunately (especially for me, I'm a HUGE proponent of Online Franchise modes as GM Connected in the NHL series is still a dream of mine) it is the LEAST played game mode in EVERY sports game, while single player franchise is the most and Diamond Dynasty brings in the most revenue. And this isn't skewed numbers because some games are missing the mode - even when NHL had GM Connected it was the least played. Hell - RTTS was not fully updated until the overhaul this year.
It may get love at some point. Hell - maybe they even talk about it this year on another stream. But at some point the anger needs to get put away and the understanding that Online Franchise is the bottom of the priority list in ALL sports games needs to set in.Last edited by Millennium; 03-10-2017, 05:34 PM.Comment

I agree with you to a certain extent..
They do compete with every other game.
BUT
Speaking from experience with family/friends in the game making business. They're many different factors that go into strategy when determining what gets priority.
I don't want this to turn into a back and forth so I would gladly speak to you privately if you'll like to go further.
But what I would say publicly is that I get the frustration of many, but don't attack the developers because building a game is no joke and many of us wouldn't even know how to code a simple function.
Many things we want isn't a simple thing to do without bugs happening... there are many issues that arise during development that delay everyone.

I don't see why we have to put our anger away. We spend our money just like you, and everyone else. We get it.
You guys can't stand us talking bad about the developers, but stop being angry?
Is that being controlled here now?
Interesting to say the least.
