Yikes, I think the most I ever gave up in an inning was 8 runs and this just happened yesterday to the Braves worst of all. Jeff Francoeur had a field day on my pitching haha.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

I am finishing my first year of franchise this year and my Cardinals have made an improbable run to the World Series. I had to win 13 of my last 15 to tie the Mets for the second wild card spot. I beat them in a one game playoff. Beat the Giants in the Wild Card game. Beat the Dodgers in a 5 game NLDS, then defeat the Cubs in 6 games to get to the World Series. To win game 6 of the series Carpenter had a 7 rbi, 3 HR game with a 2 run homer to tie in the 9th and one to win it in the 11th. In the World Series I lose the first game when I throw to second on a first and 3rd double steal 2-1. I win game 2 on a Grichuk walk off in the 13th inning 2-0. Game 3 I strand a small village on the bases and lose 7-4. In game 4 I am down 4-2 in the 9th with first and second and 1 out. Moss hits a grounder to first and the Astros turn a 3-5-1 double play. I do not believe that I have ever seen that play at any level of baseball at least I can't remember it. I wish I could figure out how to load the video.
Sorry for the long post just needed to vent some. Down 3 games to 1 it isn't looking too promising.

Definitely my worst loss of the year so far.

Has anyone found an at least moderately convenient way to drastically reduce the number of complete games and shutouts pitched in simulated games?

I have manager hook high (I think 7 or something) and that seems to at least help a little. I had it at 10 but I thought that was a bit too much - saw a lot of good 5 inning outings in sim and I thought that was too aggressive.

Other than that, not really, but I just go with it, especially in my carryover.

First inning of the second game of the Marlins 2023 season and already some interesting stuff.

First of all is Stan Brito getting intentionally walked to load the bases...in the first inning. Talk about being scared of someone's power.

And then Jay Craft picks up his first major league hit...an RBI infield single. It's probably not the way he wanted to get hit #1, but it works and drove in a run to make that intentional pass to Brito hurt a little at least.

                    Chicago Cubs 2016 Postseason

                    National League Division Series
Chicago Cubs (116-48) vs. Washington Nationals (96-66)

Game 1 (Cubs win 9-5): Heyward... Heyward! HEYWARD!!! In an incredible performance, Chicago's own, Jason Heyward, hits for the CYCLE in game 1 of the NLDS. First came two singles, then a solid two bagger, a blast to the cheap seats during a 4 run inning, and finally and triple to put him in the history books. The triple was honestly hilarious because he hit it off the ivy and was literally right behind Fowler who was waiting between 1st and 2nd to see if it would get caught. It bounced off and I had to send Fowler home to get tagged out just to get Heyward the cycle...hey, gotta do what you gotta do. Besides that, Arrieta had a great 7 inning game where he fanned 8 and gave up three. Strasburg certainly struggled as we took advantage of him for 6 earned runs. Montero also added a nice two run blast in the second...huge.

Game 2 (Cubs win 7-3): Game two featured a comfortable win for the Cubbies. Washington started off quick with two runs in the first but we managed to answer back with one in the bottom to keep things close. As the innings progressed Lester chucked a nice game through seven innings, only giving up two and fanning 6. We certainly took advantage of them putting Ross out there and we blasted 5 runs off him in 4.1 innings. Homeruns were big this game as Bryant smacked two, Rizzo got one, and Fowler snagged one as well.

Game 3 (Washington wins 3-2): Scherzer on the mound...you know it's gonna be a tough one. Well, it was. He may not have struck out the Cubs (3 k's), but in 6.2 IP he definitely messed with us. We were only able to get 5 hits total, two of which came from Bryant, one being a homerun. Hendricks did a nice job keeping most of the Nats at bay, but Harper blasted a shot in the first and we never took back the lead from there.

Game 4 (Cubs win 6-4): Bryce Harper is a freak. In a wild game, Bryce harper smacks two bombs & the Nats still lose. Old man Lackey took the mound and threw a good one, 5 innings giving up only 1. We threw Grimm, Warren, and Ramirez in there for the 6th, 7th, and 8th...Warren was blasted for 3 runs in the seventh making things uncomfortable. Luckily, we seperated ourselves in the top of the 9th to make it 6-4 and put in big daddy Strop to close things out. Fowler, Rizzo, and Zobrist all combined for homers as we once against exposed Strasburg for 4 runs in 5 innings.

I'm in the final of the opening series of a Brewers franchise on legend difficulty. If anyone wants to check it out now I'm live streaming on Twitch under the name "pcipro"

It's 1-1 in the first two games of this series, this one decides it!

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

About to play game 7 of the NLCS. I'm the Cubs @ home facing the dirty Brewers (still playing 2015, 2nd season). We went 80-82 last year. This season we finished with 96 games and beat the Brewers out for the division by one game. We had to win just one game during the last series of the season and they made us work for the division. We flipped positions most of the year and no one was really up by more than 3 games after the break. We have rotated wins for the first 6 games, so it is the Cubs turn to win. We were 1-5 against them in the last two series of the season so I'm nervous and this is going to be a tough game. I wanted to play some Madden tonight but don't think PSN is totally back up and this game could end the season. Let's play ball!

                            Update 1 - Mike Fiers 2-0 4.38 vs Jason Hammel 1-0 1.29
(This is kind of garbage, Hammel only has about 80 of his stamina bar which is the highest of my starting pitchers. Bullpen is garbage so this should be interesting.)

Top 1st - Segura batting over .400 for the post season tries to drop a surprise bunt on the 4th pitch of the AB and is called safe on a bang bang play. Cubs challenge and win for the first out. Hammel get the next two batters to hit weak grounders for outs. 0-0 going into the bot 1st.

Bot 1st - Cubs go down in order.

Top 2nd - Kris Davis is leading off. He left the game last night in the first after making a spectacular diving catch in the outfield. The fear was an MCL injury, everyone is shock he is back in the lineup tonight. Brewers won game 6, 9-4.

Davis had a scary lineout to center. Hammel got bailed out by blue against Lind on a clear ball 4 and retired the side on ground outs. Still 0-0.

Bot 2nd - Rizzo will lead off, he finished 2nd in NL MVP voting with 30 HR's and well over 100 RBI's. He is struggling in the playoffs and missed most of the previous season with a broken leg (2015).

Rizzo and Soler strikeout, the Cubs go down in order. We're still scoreless.

Top 3rd. Gomez doubles to left. Lucroy grounds out but pushes Gomez to 3rd with one out. We may have the first run of the game but Hammel comes up huge and strikes out Fiers and Segura.

Bot 3rd Castillo hits a rocket to center field but the Brewers are able to flag it down on the warning track. That is an easy HR to any other part of the field. Another hitless/scoreless inning for the Cubbies. 0-0

Top 4th Braun takes a 4 pitch walk with 1 out. Davis smashes a liner to left but Soler is able to flag it down by a hair. Lind hits a bloop to center, runners now on 1st and 2nd. Beltre lines out to Fowler. Still scoreless.

Bot 4th Fowler leads off and crushes a ball to the exact same location that Castillo hit the ball for out number 1. The Cubs go down in order again. 0-0

Top 5th Hammel is at 48 pitches and the bullpen is already going. The pen is already worn down so the Cubs will really need to puzzle the final innings together. Fiers is barely over 40 pitches and looks fresh, the Cubs will need to work the count better the rest of the game.

Hammel gets out of the inning on 5 pitches! 0-0 going to the Bot of the 5th with Rizzo leading off.

Bot 5th Rizzo strikes out again. He hasn't been himself in October.
Soler draws a walk after being behind in the count. The perfect game is over. Then Soler gets to 2nd on a passed ball.
Baez hits a liner to center that gets down. Soler rounds and goes for home, this is going to be close. Soler is out by a hair at the plate. The no no is gone. 0-0 going to the 6th.

Top 6th Hammel rolls 3 ground balls to retire the top of the lineup. 0-0 Bot 6th.

Bot 6th Castillo is up, two strike count. He blast a contact hit off the wall for a double. Hammel is going to bat for himself in the bottom of the 6th as it looks like the Cubs will try to get 1 more inning out of him.

Hammel sac bunts Castillo over the 3rd. 1 out, Hammel fist pumps on the way back to the dugout. Dexter Fowler is up next.

Fowler doubles to the gap, Cubs 1 Brewers 0.

Castro blast a roller up the middle. Fowler rounds for home and he is safe by a hair! Castro takes second. Cubs 2 Brewers 0.

Fiers gets the hook, Neil Cotts will be the relief pitcher. Anthony Rendon (Cubs brought over from the Nats at the break) is up next.

Rendon grounds out but Castro moves over to 3rd.

Rizzon hits a last to the gap. Castro scores on a double by Rizzo. Cubs 3 Brewers 0

Soler grounds out to end the inning.

Top 7th Davis, Lind, Beltre due up for the Brewers. The Cubs have had a knack for blowing games vs the Brewers this season. The Brewers lineup is loaded with power and they are looking to return to the World Series again after losing to Baltimore last season.

Davis singles to center. The Cubs replace Hammel with lefty Rex Brothers who was acquired from Colorado early this season.

                            Lind flys out to Soler.

Beltre grounds into left field. Runners on 1st and 2nd.

Cubs bring Blake Parker into the game to pitch.

Gomez doubles. Davis Scores and Beltre is on 3rd now.

Lucroy hits a blast ground ball. Baez makes an incredible diving stop and fires to first. Lucroy is out. Beltre has scored and Gomez rounds 3rd the throw is close and Gomez is safe by a fraction. Brewers 3 Cubs 3 with 2 outs and no one on base.

Chase Utley pinch hits and grounds out to Rizzo to end the inning. We go to the bot 7th tied at 3.

bot 7th - Kintzler enters the game for the Brewers. I hate sinker pitchers.

                            Baez lines out to center.

                            Alcantara flys out to center.

Castillo grounds out to 3rd. Nice glove by Beltre. 3-3 Top 8th.

Top 8th Looks like Parker is going back to the mound. The Cubs might need to rely on the rookie closure Coronado who was called up at the break. He is a hot prospect but has struggled at times this season and was used sparingly late but he has a good flashes in his few recent chances.

Segura drops a bunt that pops up. Parker can't catch it, fires to first but Segura is safe by a fraction.

Scotter Gennett flies out to Fowler.

2-2 count to Braun. Parker tries to pick off Segura but the ball flies into the stands. Segura is awarded 2nd base.

Braun hits a blast to the game. Somehow Alcantara gets to it. It looks like Segura will score. Castro gets the relay and makes a laser throw. Segura is out by a mile. Unreal relay by the Cubs to save the game. 3-3 Bot 8th.

Bot 8th Henderson comes in to relieve for the Brewers.
Justin Smoak will pinch hit for the Cubs. He was the hero in game 3 with a walk off solo HR in the bot of the 9th. Smoak hits one deep to left but it dies on the warning track for the first out.

                            Fowler flies out to center.

                            Castro draws a walk.

Broxton comes into the game. One of the few Brewers the Cubs have got after this year.

Rendon with a 1-2 count after fouling off 4 balls. Castro gets second on a passed ball.

Rendon works the count full but grounds out to end the inning. Tied at 3 going into the 9th.

Top 9th - Strop will take the mound for the Cubs. 6.75 era in the playoffs and has blown several games this season.

                            Strop strikes Davis out.

Lind slaps a single down the first base line. Brewers bring in a pinch runner.

Beltre grounds out. Runner on second.

Gomez strikes out. Tied at 3 going to the bottom of the 9th. Rizzo up to bat.

                            Bot 9th

Broxton full count to Rizzo. Rizzo with a drive to the right field gap for a double. No outs and Soler is coming up to the plate.

Soler with a drive to deep left center. It might be gone, but it dies out and is caught on the wall. Rizzo advances to 3rd. Baez is up with 1 out.

                            Baez lines out to 3rd.

Alcantara tries a squeeze but with two outs and misses. Rizzo is out at the plate. Oh. my. word. Alcantara has been very successful bunting this season but that wasn't a smart decision by the coach. The game is in the Brewers favor now.

                            Top 10th

Lucroy blast a HR off Strop to left. Brewers 4 Cubs 3.

                            Strop walks the next batter.

Coronado comes into the game. Pulls a double play on the first pitch.

Gennette grounds out. Going to the Bot 10th and the pressure is on the Cubs to at least get 1 run.

                            Bot 10th

                            Alcantara successfully bunts.

Herrera pinch hits for Castillo and tries to sac bunt but he beats out the throw. Cubbies have life with runners on first and second with no on out.

Steven Arias pinch hits for the pitcher. Arias with a loud fly out to the pitcher. Alcantara moves to 3rd. Runners on the corners.

Fowler walks, the bases are loaded but Rodriguez is setup for a double play to get out of the game.

Castro with a drive to center. 3 runs will score and the Cubs have won the game 6-4 and will be playing the Red Sox in the World Series!

Boston is 7-0 in the post season with wins over the Tigers and Mariners. What a end to one of the best championship series in MLB history!

Starting a brand new 2016 Chicago Cubs franchise & have a thread in the dynasty pages, the title is "Cautiously Optimistic". I thought the title fits perfectly on a lot of us Chicago Cub fan's mindsets coming into this season & now postseason. My thread isn't going to be as in depth as some of these guys (who do one hell of a job), but if you enjoy some frequent content and easy to read write ups, stop by and say hey.
