Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

try this one on for size ....

    bottom of 9th - cws - 10 at tb - 2

tb scores 8 runs in bottom 9th inning and longo ties it with grand slam - 6 runs scored with two out and 6-unearned runs !!!!!!!!!!!!

cws scores 2 runs in extra innings and wins 12-10.

the odds of that happening are 0.1%, according to my research.

I'm thinking of creating a new franchise when OSFM V2.0 release, picking a horrible team, simming first year, making so moves etc and playing in year 2. Not sure though.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

So I finished my first year with the Brewers. I won 99 games in my first year while still trading Braun and Lucroy. We lost in the NLDS to the Cubs. But this team really over achieved. I made one key trade early in the year. The Red Sox put Brock Holt on the block. They needed RP pretty bad. So I traded one of my better RP Sam Freeman (who was killing it at the time) and one of my top prospects SS Gilbert Lara (high B) for Holt. I also signed Cuban national Jose Miguel Fernandez. So with Holt in the OF and moving Fernandez to 3B. I actually had a decent lineup.

In late June I called Dave Dombrowski up again. This time on a trade about Braun. He was killing it but his salary was killing me. I traded Braun and 1B Chris Carter for Hanley Ramirez and Prospects OF Andrew Benintendi (A) and Michael Kopech (B). Now you guys will say but Hanley's contract is terrible too. True but I got back two big time prospects and I mash with HanRam when playing. Plus he usually retires around age 34-35. The last trade at the AS Break, I traded Jonathan Lucroy to Houston for Jason Castro (needed a C pretty badly), 3B JD Davis (B) and SP Francis Marte (B). With these moves I helped my Farm system now turned into a strength after my great drafting and picking up some FA players who were drafted but not signed. You can see my entire year at my google sheet link down below. It's defaulted on 2016, but I have 2017 on the second page and I just finished my first month. But I am loving this chise.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

Through June 9th of the 2017 season the Tampa Bay Rays are 43-20 and are leading the AL East by 8 games. The team is currently shopping around Boxberger since he has blown some save opportunities that he's gotten due to giving our Closer some rest and has given up some leads late in the game.

During the 2017 draft the Rays grabbed a 3B with the 29th pick in the first round and he has the ability to start next year if he improves on his arm strength and arm accuracy. Also drafted a 2B who can also start next year but the club may look into trying to trade him away next year since they already have enough talent at that position.

A few surprise performances so far are Dayron Varona hitting .344 with 4 HR's and 13 RBI's, Eric Young Jr. Avg .275 with 24 RBI's and 22 SB Desmond Jennings with a .285 Avg and has hit 8 HR's and driven in 26. Hak-Ju Lee Avg is .224 with 2 HR's and 4 SB's which to anyone else would seem just decent at best but the club didn't expect this output from him which was a surprise.

The only thing the club has to worry about with Lee is if he can stay on the field because since being called up he has missed some games already. It wasn't a lot but a few here and there could add up overtime.

Longoria is starting to hit the ball a little bit better now with his Avg .185 with 5 HR's and 20 RBI's.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

Marlins got shut down by the Giants in game 3 of the series. They got a look at an ace in the making in rookie phenom Brady Rogers as he's in the mold of a Greg Maddux sort of pitcher (70's in H/9 and K/9 and a whopping 96 in BB/9).

He was pitching like Maddux, too. Marlins couldn't hit anything with authority, managing just one run on 3 hits...until Yelich fractured the kid's shin with a grounder back through the box. Rogers will miss up to 3 months.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Giants pitchers continued to shut the Marlins down. Bartlett was doing okay through 6, but coughed up a 3-run HR in the 7th to put the Marlins down 4-1. The Marlins scratched together a run to make it 4-2, but would end up losing 5-2.

In game 4, the Marlins must have been mad because they racked up 10 runs in 3 innings, 8 of them off starter Bud Norris.

Chris Davis hit a 2-run triple in the 8th, which had Matt V. imploring the Marlins to "call off the dogs already". Marlins rolled to an easy 12-3 win behind 8 strong innings from Boeve to move to 13-5. Boeve is now the only NL pitcher with an ERA under 2.00 (1.91).

The home stand as well as this run of top-level teams coming to visit will end with a 3-game set against the Reds (69-44).

Cardinals move their winning streak to 5 with a 7-4 victory over the Phillies. Mike Leake wasn't strong, but he was good enough to pitch 5.2 innings and claim his 3rd win of the season. Once again the Cards bullpen was strong allowing no hits and no runs and 6 strikeouts over the final 3 and a third innings. Rosenthal earned his 11th saves in as many chances.

Kolten Wong was a force at the plate going 3-4 with 2 triples and 3 RBI's. Matt Holliday move his hitting streak to 10 games as he collected a single in the 3rd.

The Cardinals will be without Stephen Piscotty for 1 to 2 months after he fractured his wrist colliding with the wall early in the ballgame. The Cardinals have called up Magnerius Sierrera from Memphis. Also, Carlos Martinez was activated off the 15-Day DL and placed back into the rotation. Lynn will move back to the bullpen and Miguel Socolovich was optioned back to Memphis.

Really like this idea. Just started May in my annual Yankee franchise and everything is going so poorly I'm already looking toward the future.

In 2016 of my Yankee franchise, traded Greg Bird and some low level prospects to the Phillies in exchange for Maikel Franco as I like his versatility to be able to play 3rd as I'm not the biggest fan of Chase Headley and he is a buffer there in my opinion.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

With the drop of OSFM V2 Rosters, I have decided to go with the Houston Astros as they were my franchise team last year.

The 'Stros kicked off the spring with a 7-1 win over the Phillies as Tyler White drove in 3 while Dallas Keuchel pitched 8 scoreless innings. The Astros were active on the Free Agent Market to start the spring. Jose Miguel Fernandez was the first to sign shortly after defecting from Cuba. He will back up both Carlos Correa and Jose Altuve while providing a solid option to the Astros bench. The Astros also announced the signing of International Free Agents Kevin Maitan (SS) and highly touted Lazarito Armenteros (CF) to minor league contracts. In addition to those signings, the Astros worked out a 3 year contract with free agent pitcher Allen Webster, who be assigned to Triple A after spending some time as of late in Japan. He will be a pitcher to watch in Triple A for a possible promotion over the course of the season.

When it comes to the trade market, Catcher Jason Castro is said to be available as the team looks for an upgrade behind the plate. The team is also considering a move for a possible platoon partner with the youngster Tyler White if he does not impress in the spring. Finally, the team is in the market for another starting pitcher to add to Keuchel and Company. Jake Marisnick is said to be available in a deal for a starter.

I was 15 games in with my Mets franchise (using V1.5) but then I realized all the screwy stats so I'm going to start a new one when V2.2 drops tonight. Blah, why can't I just keep going with a damn franchise.

                          BREAKING CARDINALS NEWS

The Cardinals are said to be in negotiations with free agent outfielder David Murphy. The Cardinals had called up Magnerius Sierra after Stephen Piscotty went down for 1-2 months with a fractured wrist. But apparently after thinking about the future of the club and how to protect their early best record in baseball, the John Mozeliak has picked up the phone and reached out to David Murphy. There are a number of ways this could go if the Cardinals do sign Murphy, but what is expected is that Sierra would be left in Memphis instead of called up, as the Cardinals are excited about the prospect but feel a year in Memphis is for the betterment of his career instead of pushing him in the majors too soon.

If something officially breaks we'll let you know.

The Cardinals winning streak ends at 5. Jaime Garcia couldn't get settled early as he allowed 6 runs in the first 2 innings by giving up 3 two run homeruns, 2 to Ryan Howard and 1 to Freddy Galvis. Garcia would settled down in the 3rd and proceed to provide Matheny with 6 innings. Tyler Lyons pitched the final 3 allowing one run himself, although it was unearned thanks to an error by Brandon Moss.

The bats were cold for most of the game, but the Cards did bang out 7 hits with 2 long balls (Grichuk and Carpenter) and a RBI triple by Matt Holliday to extend his hitting streak to 11 games.

The Cardinals welcome the Pirates to town for a 3 game weekend series. The Cardinals still own the best record in baseball at 21-8.
