Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
Would Chicago move Baez or Addison Russell for Drew Smyly?
What about J.P. Crawford/Trea Turner/Arcia/Trevor Story? Are any of these guys available for a king's ransom? Could help the Rockies a ton with pitching for the next decade or so.Last edited by pootytang; 05-07-2016, 08:28 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
Alright, I'm at the All Star break in my Dodgers franchise and I'd like a little advice.
I'm 56-35 and am leading the league in team ERA, but I'm teetering b/w 29th and 30th in team hitting.
I'm not looking to move a bunch of specs, but I have my eye on a couple of potential solutions for an IF problem I'm having.
At 2B, Utley and Kendrick are hitting below .225, and while Utley's defensive ratings are holding up, neither player is giving me plus value at the plate or in the field.
I don't have anyone in AAA who could come up and out-perform either of those guys, and Micah Johnson is seasoning in AA for at least the rest of the first year.
Two teams with players who intrigue me are CIN and PHI.
CIN is 15.5 GB and PHI is 13 GB.
I'm looking at Brandon Phillips, who is hitting .270. CIN could use SP, and I have several guys who could be moved. Phillips would likely give me plus defense and a bat that can play vs. RHP and LHP. CIN clearly needs someone in the 3-5 spots in the rotation.
I'm also looking at Freddy Galvis. He's hitting .240, but would give me plus defense, everyday durability, and a decent option vs. LHP. He's got JP Crawford biting his heels and so looks pretty expendable. PHI has some young arms in the minors, but maybe could use an additional starter and certainly could use a pen arm.
What kind of price do y'all think each would take to get? I don't want to tear up the farm, but I want to approach the second half with either plus hitting or plus defense at 2B or SS. If I were to acquire Galvis, I'd slide Seager over to 3rd and put Turner at 2B.Comment

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
The Schwarber injury clouded things up a bit, but if he's not hurt in your franchise you should be clear. Baez being the do-it-all utility type of guy on this Cubs team has already paid off. Personally, I'd hate to see Baez go, but that's just a fan bias. It could definitely happen.
Arcia - no, Milwaukee doesn't need Smyly because they're rebuilding + Arcia is their top guy
Turner - no because their staff now is fine + Espinosa isn't good
Crawford - see Arcia, Orlando
Story - I don't see them moving him right now.. too much hype and you'd be paying way too muchComment

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
Kiermaier is focused on becoming a better all-around player by significantly improving at the plate in 2016, Bill Chastain of MLB.com reports.
[...]"When the Mets came into town [in August] and I hurt my thumb, I was so much better from there on out," Kiermaier said. "I finally figured out what I want to do with my approach and my swing. ... The last two months of the season, I went with a less-is-more approach. I cut down on the strikeouts. I had much better at-bats and I was just so happy about how everything unfolded.
