The Rays are a low budget team and Odorizzi/Smyly are both on their last year. What would they sell them for?
To get Smyly or Odorizzi in the same division you would have to overpay by a lot. They would take the huge value, plus a "tax" for inter-division trading.

Maybe I haven't worded things well enough, but in order to get the range of starters you want it is really going to hurt and it will hurt your major league lineup. No team will give up a stud pitcher without pillaging from the majors and top prospects. Gray would cost a lot, but in quality, not quantity like people keep trying on here. Samardzija (spelling?) isn't moving, he just signed a long term deal in free agency. Gio Gonzalez would probably be attainable if the Nats were out of the playoff picture, but teams that have a good shot at the playoffs don't sell proven veteran starters.

One approach would just be to use the game's trade logic and see what your target teams want for your target player.

At some point, you have to embrace that you've entered your own world in your franchise and that things will play out according to the logic the developers created to govern roster management.

There is no objectively "realistic" scenario that's 100% unassailable for any player, and trades get done IRL that people here would have called "unrealistic" before they happened.

Ultimately, it's your franchise, and you have to play the game in a way that's fun for you. Everyone has a different take on what's most realistic.

Ye I agree but the trade logic in the game can be really bad at times. Last year with the base giants roster i was able to trade for guys like scherzer and trout without giving up any of my big guys ahah. I just don't want to play unrealistic like that anymore.
But I definitely hear and agree with what you said

Hi guys I'm with the blue Jays and I'm at the all star break. I'm wondering what return I could get for Dickey, Colabello and Thole. Like most people I can't stand pitching with dickey so I put him in AAA. Colabello I have on the DL because of his suspension and thole is my backup catcher still. Stats-
            Dickey (AAA)- 6-5 3.95 ERA 1.56 whip.
            Thole- 1.73 4 RBIS
            Colabello no stats
I know thole isn't worth a pack of gum but if dickey ever moved he would go with him.

I saw that one guy on here traded dickey and couple of minor leaguers for chichi Gonzalez who I like. I'm manly looking for prospects/prospect (some one like chichi) and maybe a backup catcher if possible.

Looking for fairness don't care about realism.

            Thank you.

You don't want them and it just so happens that nobody else wants those guys either. Whodathunkit?

You're not getting anything for a 42 (?) year old knuckleballer, a catcher who only has a job because he can catch said knuckleball, and a guy freshly popped for PEDs who did nothing in his career prior to last season. Sorry. Probably better off releasing them. No value there.

It's unload time for the Twins who sit last in the AL Central after 80 games and we just hit July 1. I don't have the arms or offense to contend so I'm not going to pretend that I can make a run.

Here are the players on my block:

                3B Trevor Plouffe 77 OVR - 61 GP, .275/.328/.458 with 12 HR and 41 RBI
He's be on pace for 30 HR if he didn't miss two weeks with an injury. He can also play COF and is a rental player for a contender (last year of his deal @ $2.4M). Plouffe is 29 years old so if a team liked him they could sign him for a few more years where he would be in his prime and he wouldn't be too expensive.

                OF/MIF Danny Santana - 32 GP, .266/.316/.363 with 1 HR and 10 RBI + 3 SB
He was injured early and has come back and hit decent. He's a guy who can play all over the diamond and is a good contact hitter. He's a switch hitter who is 25 years old with 3 years of control for cheap after this season. I have younger, better players at his position. He's expendable to me.

Teams who are contending and could use upgrades:

                Dodgers (48-33)
                3B Justin Turner - .266/.309/.378 with 6 HR and 36 RBI
RF Andre Ethier - .197/.305/.298 with 6 HR and 16 RBI
*RF Yasiel Puig out for the season with a torn ACL

I'm interested in SP Grant Holmes, SP Ross Stripling, SP Chris Anderson, C Austin Barnes, and CF Alex Verdugo

                Giants (44-37)
                3B Matt Duffy - .245/.295/.335 with 4 HR and 25 RBI
LF Gregor Blanco - .233/.349/.301 with 1 HR and 13 RBI
*RF Hunter Pence out 1-2 months with broken ankle

                Prospects are meh...

In all honestly for a player in his contract year, and not putting up amazing numbers. Decent average, and meh on base it just depends. The Dodgers may send over a low B, but I feel a high C is what Plouffe is worth. Santana is tricky since he is young and has control, but again maybe two mid C's. So you could go a low B and a mid C for them.

I like Stripling because he's 26 and rated 72 with and a low B pot. Based on their farm system he's a dinosaur and not as talented as the rest. Numbers aren't amazing but he's a huge upgrade at this point and they have the Puig injury bug. They don't have anybody to call up and somebody who might hit 10-15 HR the 2nd half of the season is a nice luxury I think they'd be willing to pay for.

Stripling could be a guy to push for a roster spot next year and if he misses out he could be a pen guy for me. Not a power arm but possibly could be a 4/5 start if he hits his potential.

I looked hard at Plouffe in my first season because Turner was struggling. I was looking exactly at a Stripling for Plouffe deal. I'd do that for sure.

Stripling is just as you say--he's way older and less of a rising star than a number of other pitchers in the Dodgers' system. He's an attractive chip in trade talks to the CPU. Seems fair to me and Turner is a nightmare defensively. If Plouffe is hitting and can play even marginally better than Turner, that's an upgrade that could help that team.

PS- Even though I have been around since 2006, I feel like I am the official thread killer. You guys will go on for days on potential trades, but I ask a question and the thread shuts down. Sorry! :-(
I also put my name in the running for thread killer, although I prefer to call us "ghosts", we're invisible to most and the ones who do notice us don't respond for fear of looking like crazy people. It's a tough life we live, but just keep plugging away.

Not sure about the Rockies pitcher, but I can't see Reddick being super expensive, a B and a C, maybe 3 C's even.

Didn't comment for 2 reasons. 1) Musgrave has an FV of 40 which means he will be lucky to be a bullpen guy so it would cost peanuts to get him. 2) Don't see why the Nats need another OF, they already have 4. It will depend on how Reddick is playing. If he is playing like real life it will be a bit costly. Maybe someone like Erick Fedde. Since he is a rental it all depends on how he is playing.

I'm trying to mirror what might really happen at the trade deadline. The Nats need another professional hitter and someone like Reddick could help.

Hear you on Musgrave--pitching well in real life, but ratings dont translate to the game just yet.

This is a really good base imo. I really like this concept. Two things: Can't see the Yankees getting Hughes back and think the Padres are getting jobbed a bit. Maybe give Hughes to Padres instead of Nolasco (and him to the Yanks), and then somethign to San Diego, granted I don't know what. think this is a very interesting deal
Do you think it's something like, add a prospect or two to SD? I'd be willing to part with SS Tyler Wade (#6 according to BA) and/or RHSP Drew Finley (#12 according to River Ave Blues) if that's what it takes to get the deal complete.

Or is it more, add a piece that can be in the major right now like a OF Mason Williams, UTL Dustin Ackley, RHSP Luis Cessa, RHRP Nick Goody, and/or LHRP James Pazos?

What's a good price for A's C Stephen Vogt? I'm at the ASB and looking to deal him to a contender. He's hitting like .270 with 10 HR or so.

If the Padres are 20 GB at the ASB...who should I trade away? And for what?

                                Sorry for such broad questions!
