See that's what I wasn't sure about because the outside perception of a player is way different than the perspective from within that fan base. Wasn't sure if it was him struggling because of the environment or because of health

I really enjoy the idea of this trade given OP's franchise situation

realistically it's a high leverage RP for a 4OF but it could also be a doubles hitting defensive stalwart for a permanent DL or a shuttle outfielder for a 150 IP #2

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread

With the Red Sox in Year 2, I just don't play well with Blake Swihart. It's at the point where I'd rather keep Vazquez's defense in the starting lineup.

So I had an idea to package Swihart with Eduardo Rodriguez for an upgrade in my rotation.

My thinking is Swihart gives a team a young MLB-ready catcher with some potential and a serviceable lefty with team control. I get an upgraded rotation, and use a catcher I'm more comfortable playing with.

I was thinking maybe along the lines of Vince Velasquez from the Phillies. I would like to try to swing Steven Matz, but despite d'Arnaud on the DL with a 2 month injury, that trade doesn't make much sense long-term. Maybe someone like Julio Teheran could work? Although I don't think I value him as much as other people do, and might consider it lopsided.

Rodriguez has a 3.89 era in 66 ip so far this year. Swihart has a .240 avg 4 hr.

        Any thoughts?

Well by next year is Brinson not patrolling CF already?

And I guess you're right, a prospect is just that.

I think 30/30 teams would rather McCutchen in CF and Brinson in, i dunno, RF, than Brinson in CF and Gallo/Mazara in RF

Would the Padres make this trade

                    Mets get

                    Tyson Ross
Logan Allen, LHP, Grade B- Prospect

                    Padres get

                    Zach Wheeler
                    Juan Lagares
Dominic smith 1B, Grade B+ prospect

How would you guys grade this trade or would you even make this deal ?!?

Curtis Granderson broke his shin, literally on the afternoon of the Trade Deadline, out 2-3 months AKA rest of season. I need to make a move for an OF. Don't want to give up too much (like one of the Big 5 lol). I could deal Rafael Montero, he's a 75-ovr/B-pot but he's 25, older than Thor/Matz/Wheeler so I would be willing to move him.

Or is he too much to give up for basically a rental until end of season (take into account, I'm only lookin at 1yr remaining on deals).

Sucks man, Granderson was having a resurgence year for me (.294/.398/.475 17HR 48RBI, career high BB%, career low K%, team leader in WAR and 1st in RF Gold Glove). Going to be hard to replace him.

P.S. Lagares is hurt too, should be back soon but his offense has been so bad. I can't have him leading off for me. De Aza is playing well but no way he becomes an everyday OF. I can't even play with the batting order too much since Cabrera/Flores are struggling down in the card (Cabrera playing like crap, got hurt, Flores took over and has played like more crap).

In my franchise this trade has occurred multiple times and each time I have rejected it or reversed it after it happened. The DiamondBacks send OF Aj Pollock, OF David Peralta, and RP Andrew Chafin to the Red Sox for OF Mookie Betts. Should I let it through if it happens again? I don't see the value in it for the Red Sox considering Pollock is on the wrong side of 25 and Betts is only 23 and still 5-6 years from free agency.

This trade never happens. Betts is right on the cusp of stardom and being the face of the franchise. Trading for Betts would cost twice as much as they gave up for Shelby Miller IMO.
