            All-Star Festivities

            HR Derby:
Chris Carter, Miguel Sano, and Joey Gallo represented the AL in the Home Run Derby.

Perhaps fitting, it's Sano that advanced to the finals. He dueled Edwin Encarnacion to a tie but came up short in the tiebreaker round.

"They should have given me a lefty, " Sano joked, "I would have won."

            All-Star Game:

Chris Sale was named the All-Star Game starter for the AL. Aroldis Chapman was also selected to work out of the bullpen. In the lineup, Sano and Gallo were in the starting nine. No other Red Sox made the team as bench players.

The AL team managed just 4 hits...but one of them was a gigantic one.

No surprise that it came off the bat of the HR/AB leader in the MLB at the break...Miguel Sano.

He launched a grand slam in the 6th that represented the first scoring of the game by either team.

The NL tried to rally as Betances gave up a couple runs, but they would get no more and the AL claimed victory 4-2.

So the young slugger can add All-Star Game MVP to the list to conclude his ridiculous first half.

League Leaders at the start of the second half:

            AVG:
            AL: Xander Bogaerts, .368

            NL: Max Scherzer, 4.18

            AAA All-Stars:
3B Juan Francisco was named to the IL All-Star team.

            AA All-Stars:
RP Simon Castro, CP Jacob Lindgren, CF Yusniel Diaz, LF Taylor Dugas, 1B Daric Barton, 3B Khayyan Nofork, SS Lucius Fox, and C Derrick Chung made the Eastern League team (sheez, what happened to the rest of the Eastern League??)

Not entirely sure what to do about this. Working through a fantasy team that I'll update for the first week in two days, but Addison Russell gets hit by a pitch and says that he has to leave the game. After the game, it says he has a right finger contusion and is out for 3-4. Yet the ball hit him in the back of his left arm? I may just have to take that injury off.

Change it to an arm injury for 3-4 weeks.

                  DODGERS SWEEP PADRES

"Opening the year on the road, against a division rival, is one way to start your managerial career." said rookie manager Dave Roberts. Offense was not the story in the series, as combined both teams only managed to score 10 runs. Jordan Zimmerman, Chris Tillman & Steven Matz all pitched quality starts and earned the victory for the boys in blue. Greg Holland picked up 2 saves in both games he was handed the ball.

In game two, with the Dodgers up just one run, the Padres looked to be on the verge of a rally. 2 men were on with no outs, when yadier molina hit into an inning ending TRIPLE PLAY! (This is the first time in this years show I have been able to pull that off)

                  GM1: LA 3 SD 2: Winning pitcher - Jordan Zimmerman 5.2IP 9H 2R 7K
                  GM 2: LA 2 SD 1: Winning Pitcher - Chris Tillman 6IP 9H 1R 2K
                  GM 3: LA 2 SD 0: Winning Pitcher Steven Matz 9IP 4H 6K

                  NEXT UP

The Dodgers (3-0) close out the road trip with 4 games in San Francisco (2-1) before a day off and the start of the home opener. The month of April will be very important to the Dodgers success on the season, as they play 18 of 25 games against NL West opponents.

                  Pitching Matchups
Jason Hammel (0-0) vs Erasmo Ramirez (0-0)
Cliff Lee (0-0) vs Tim Lincecum (0-0)
                  Jordan Zimmerman (1-0 3.18) vs James Shields (1-0 0.00)
                  Chris Tillmann (1-0 0.00) vs Jesse Hahn (0-1 3.00)

                  What To Watch For

The Dodgers offense is getting by, but hasn't really begun to fire on all cylinders just yet. The pitching staff has been outright nasty, but has a tough task ahead of them. The Giants boast a lineup that includes 2B Jose Altuve, CF Carlos Gomez, 1B David Ortiz, RF Hunter Pence, C Jonathan Lucroy, LF Ender Inciarte & SS Jose Iglesias.

Here is the new team: the 2016 Oakland A's. I went with players that have a heavy emphasis on OBP and am doing a MoM franchise.

                      OPENING DAY: GAME 1

Oakland Athletics defeat the Chicago White Sox after late game two-run blast, 5-3

The Oakland Athletics took the last of five lead changes in a back-and-forth affair against the Chicago White Sox, securing a 5-3 victory on Monday at O.co Coliseum. The A's took the lead in the sixth inning and held on for the victory. The A's went up for good on a two-run home run by Curtis Granderson off Yordano Ventura, plating Matt Holliday. Granderson racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Athletics. Jacob DeGrom recorded the win. He allowed three runs over six innings. DeGrom struck out six, walked two and gave up six hits.

Ventura took the loss for the White Sox. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out five, and allowed five runs. The bottom of the first saw the Athletics take an early lead, 1-0. Joc Pederson doubled to ignite the Athletics' offense, before Matt Holliday singled, scoring Pederson. The A's went up for good in the sixth scoring three total runs, which came home on an RBI double by Matt Holliday.

                        GAME 2

Bryant's Grand Slam sinks Athletics, 5-1

Brad Hand gave up two hits in three innings of shutout relief, but the Oakland Athletics still fell to the Chicago White Sox 5-1 on Tuesday at O.co Coliseum. Drew Pomeranz got it done on the mound on the way to a win. He allowed one run over seven innings. He struck out four, walked five and surrendered two hits. The Chicago White Sox were sparked by Wellington Castillo and Kris Bryant, who teamed up for four hits and five RBIs.

Chris Archer was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just six innings, walked three, struck out four, and allowed five runs. The Chicago White Sox never trailed after scoring one run in the second on a solo home run by Castillo. The lone run of the game for the Oakland Athletics crossed the plate in the fifth inning on a groundout by Addison Russell.

                          GAME 3:

The Oakland Athletics top the Chicago White Sox in back-and-forth affair, 4-3

The Oakland Athletics and the Chicago White Sox exchanged the lead six times on Wednesday, but the Oakland Athletics ended up on top with a 4-3 win over the Chicago White Sox. The Oakland Athletics finally managed to grab the lead after a strong eighth inning. A wild pitch scored Ian Kinsler to give the Oakland Athletics the lead for good. Kinsler reached base three times in the game for the Oakland Athletics. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He homered in the sixth inning and singled in the eighth inning.

Tony Cingrani got the win in relief for the Oakland Athletics. Cingrani pitched two-thirds of an inning and allowed no runs. Silvino Brancho was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.

In the top of the third, the Chicago White Sox grabbed the early lead, 1-0. The Chicago White Sox's rally started when Johnny Giavotella doubled. A single by Everth Cabrera then moved Giavotella from second to third. Daniel Murphy singled, scoring Giavotella. The Oakland Athletics survived the Chicago White Sox's surge and put up one run of their own in the third. The Oakland Athletics scored on a sacrifice fly by Joc Pederson. The Oakland Athletics never surrendered the lead after the eighth inning. The runs piled on thanks to a single by Kinsler.

                            GAME 4:

The Oakland Athletics drop 12-inning affair to the Chicago White Sox, 7-6

It took 12 innings, but the Oakland Athletics lost to the Chicago White Sox 7-6 at O.co Coliseum on Thursday. Desmond Jennings racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Oakland Athletics. He doubled in the fifth and eighth innings. Aaron Loup got it done on the mound on the way to a win. He tossed 2 2/3 innings of shutout ball. Loup struck out four, walked one and gave up one hit.

The Chicago White Sox's Wellington Castillo, Prince Fielder, Daniel Murphy and Carlos Gomez combined for 10 hits and four RBIs. Sean Doolittle took the loss for the Oakland Athletics. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.

The Chicago White Sox jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the top of the second. Corey Dickerson doubled, scoring Fielder after a double by Fielder got things started. The Chicago White Sox added more runs when Dickerson scored on an RBI double by Castillo, Castillo scored on an RBI double by Everth Cabrera, Cabrera scored on an RBI single by Johnny Giavotella, and Giavotella scored on a two-run home run by Murphy. The Chicago White Sox didn't relinquish the lead after scoring one run in the twelfth inning when they scored on an RBI single by Fielder.

                            Injury Notes:
Lance Lynn was pulled from the game in the second inning with shoulder fatigue. He's day-to-day.

Addison Russell was pulled after being hit in the fifth inning. He was hit in the hand and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks.

                              Guys, need an opinion:

Nomar Mazara has been real terrible, batting just .206. As a high stock rookie, we could really move him for someone really great.

If I were to trade him, I would only accept an offer from the computer, to keep it fair. Thoughts on what to do?

I could always move him to AAA and have Beltran play full time, also.

I couldn't bring myself to trade Mazara unless I'm getting Trout, Rizzo, Arenado or something. And it would need to be just about straight up, too. Not going to add a ton to Mazara.

I don't know how he's rated in your roster, but in mine, he looks like a .300 hitter with some power vs R and a slugger in the making vs L and defense that just needs refinement.

If he's struggling, I think I just stash in him AAA, especially if I have veteran help. I might just trade for some more veteran help if need be. Grab a decent hitter with a good glove or something. Give up a B-tier prospect from an area of strength/depth.
