    Re: Best Rebuilds?

I love the challenge of the Angels. It would be a multi year rebuild, draft well, pick up some young guys in FA, trade Pujols if you can for a prospect or 2, trade Simmons, Weaver, Street and a couple others over the course of the season to build the farm system back up. Evaluate everyone you can and trim the large stupid contracts. I think I would keep Trout if you can get good in 2-3 seasons, but if not then dump him for something crazy. Start by getting a couple of good SP and a good bullpen to take some pressure off the offense and then build them up. Could be a ton of fun.

Then there's Atlanta. This would probably be the easiest rebuild. Their roster is fringe Wild Card contender as is, I think they'll go 83 to 85 wins this year barring some bad injuries or something, and could be more with a trade or two. Trade a couple of their SP's down in the minors for a big bat and maybe one more quality starter to go with Teheran and boom, they're a real contender. Freeman is a good piece at 1st, Swanson should be an All-Star this or next year, Inciarte is a great piece as well. Kemp provides a little pop and Phillips is a good fill in at 2B for now. They'd be fun and quick. I live in Atlanta (I'm more of a Red Sox fan) and would love to see the Braves do well.

I will be doing a franchise where i control 2 teams from each division. Mariners are one from the al west and i was debating between the angels and oakland. Probably will go oakland but the angels are tugging at me. Id have to find a way to trade Pujols. Maybe unload thekr top pitchers n get younger. But Trout. Trout is the answer to the turnaround. You HAVE to trade him to make them contenders again. But where is a logical destination for him and for what?

Would be nice to have more than 3 player slots per team when trading. If you trade Trout, you better believe a 3 for 1 isn't getting it done.

Do you have your setting for all trades accepted turned on for this?

Being a Braves fan, I'm a bit bias so I'd go in a different direction. I'd say start with the Yankees as their farm system could be argued to be no. 1 (with the Braves) and they already have some good Major League talent.

                  Re: Best Rebuilds?

Padres, Angels, and Dbacks all jump out to me as solid options. Padres and Angels are the pretty obvious picks. I also like the storyline idea for the Pads about being the only sports team in San Diego and gunning for the city's first title. It's bare in the majors but you've got pieces on the way if you use OSFM. The Angels are in a tougher spot as they don't have much help on the way and a hefty contract on the books but you've got Trout and getting him a ring is a fun goal.

Surprised I don't see the Dbacks mentioned more in these threads. They've got a bare minor league system but some pretty solid young pieces in the majors both on offense and in the rotation. A lot of different options to take by either trying to build around a truly elite core in goldschmidt and pollock (plus upside arms and solid role bats), or really start over to fill out the farm. I'd run them as my side franchise if my main one wasn't already my carry over giants in the same division.

The White Sox would be a fun rebuild, Moncada and Giolito. Along with some other young players, you could dish Quintana for some more prospects as well. And you're playing all your games at the G-Spot!

I'll for sure be doing one with the Braves. I tried last year but I couldn't get into that much because after the first year you're still at Turner. It will be way more fun after the rosters come out with that farm system! Can't wait! March 28th needs to hurry up!!!

2003 Tigers using historical rosters .

Brew Crew, D-Backs, Braves and Padres all seem like solid options.

The Reds could also be an interesting rebuild.

Haven't seen them mentioned too often.

Definitely a tough challenge, as all their money was tied up in 4 almost untradeable players in Votto, Bailey, Phillips and Meserocco. Phillips is at least gone now although they are still paying for him, but still a really tough rebuild considering the lack of even average MLB talent they have.

Ill be using The Reds as one of my teams. Votto is untouchable as he wont waive his NTC. Phillips is gone which helps in game. Mesorocco is worth keeping around. Bailey is were its at. Hes tradable certainly. But to where a d for what? Maybe a Miami or KC in regards to their pitching situations. Maybe a high C - low b prospect.

Haven't seen anyone mention them but you could consider the Orioles as possible long-term rebuild project. While yes, you may be able to compete in 2017 with the roster the way it is now but you could also take it in another direction and just trade everyone not named Machado, Schoop, Gausman, and Bundy since most of the 25 man roster is a free agent within the next two years. Sign Manny to the long-term extension and build around him with the prospects you got in the trades.

Could also do this some other middle of the road teams, Royals (mentioned), Tigers (mentioned), maybe the Mariners, and Pirates as well. Compete in 2017 then start the rebuild process in the offseason following your first year.
