I have a 60" KS8000 and a regular PS4, so I already enjoy HDR on the games that support it and of course it looks phenomenal. I just can't imagine there's going to be a big improvement gameplay-wise on the Pro at this point to justify upgrading. I might still cave in since they added external hard drive support and it will be a breeze to just unplug from the old and into the new.Comment

What is the price of this TV? I looked at a Samsung KS8000 at Best Buy today and it looks phenomenal. Just can't be putting out over $1,000 for a TV right now.

I don't know anything about this set personally but I found this review that seems to indicate it'd be a set that would for HDR use but doesn't have the full wide color gamut so it's not the best for it either.

Not only that but even the HDR on the pro looks way better then the OG PS4. If you have 4k TV you're doing a disservice to yourself not playing these games on the pro lol..

It seems like you really need a 4K with a wide color gamut to truly enjoy HDR to its fullest. But it'll run $999 atleast for 55".Comment

Sometimes I wonder if the HDR and wide color gamut isn't something more people are going to notice than the 4k versus 1080p tbh..Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: MLB The Show 17 Supports 4K & HDR on PS4 Pro
If you guys go to Best Buy, they have (atleast st my store) two tvs side by side, one with WCG and one without that are displaying a slideshow of things that it benefits from.. example was a sunset scene over a town.
Lemme say it was a HUGE difference for the set that had WCG and made my decision I'll have to get one with it even if that's a longer wait than I want.Comment

^^^ Yea I'm highly convinced that not all HDR is the same. I've seen some HDR that's not impressive. Wide color gamut, black levels and the level nits your set can achieve play a huge roll in the quality of HDR..

Yes, you are correct. Not all HDR sets are equal. The color spectrum widens as the quality of the tv increases.

You'll enjoy the TV I am sure, just without wide color gamut, there is apparently nothing mind blowing as you'll not receive full HDR. ((According to rtings.com who is a very very trusted source)
A TV's color gamut defines the number of colors, or the range of colors, it can display. It's important to have a TV that displays a wide range of colors as needed.
There is the link to everything you need to know about what WCG truly does.
Edit::
I do wanna say that's my opinion of course and just giving all the info I read as I looked at getting a more budget friendly 4K until I did my research, I wanted the full HDR experience which looks like it'll run $800-$1000 unless I catch a sale.Last edited by TheBleedingRed21; 03-21-2017, 07:20 PM.Comment
