Throw in a couple of Darblets and professional calibration, and it's only a $1000 increase in an investment!

You're right. The only reason I said that is because a TV is something that most people hold on to for a while so for me I'd try to get the better one if I could, but I understand your point.

A tv is a long term investment for most people so no, $300 is not really that much of a difference for most people when you take into consideration the lifespan of the device. My last TV, a Samsung 67" HDTV (1080p) lasted me 9 years. I think I read the average consumer uses a TV for about 7 years before they upgrade.

If you think of it in those terms $300 is not that much money as it works out to just $30-40 a year.

Yea this was the point I was trying to make. A tv is usually something most people keep for many years and $300 isn't that much more to me. If $300 was the difference, plus I'm keeping the tv for a while, and the tv is overall way better I'd wait and get the $300 more tv. Again, that's just me. If you're talking about OLED difference where the price is sometimes more than double then that's a different story.

Well for me I got the 43 inch Sony because anything bigger then that in my small bedroom would be way to big. Even at 43 inches some tell me they think it's a tad big for my bedroom. I however think the size is just right lol

But definitely if my bedroom was a little bigger I would most likely have gone for a 49 inch or larger 4K with better HDR.

Now when I upgrade my livingroom TV that will be another story

I really do not think most people will be disappointed if the they buy the Sony x800D for a small bedroom or if you will be sitting pretty close to it and center. I was just watching the Justice League trailer in 4K on Youtube which is also compressed and man it looks just fantastic!

Same reason why I went with the 43 inch X800D. I wanted to 4k set with HDR for my office and the 43 inch model satisfied that requirement for me.

Yeah man there are so many things to take into account. Obviously if you just want a small TV for the den that won't be watched much then it's hard to justify $300 more. But if you're talking a larger screen that you will watch a lot and own for a long time then $300 is worth waiting for because its an investment.

As for the super expensive OLEDs, I sort of follow the rule I always did when it came to PC gaming, find the best, then go one rung down tech-wise for the best value.

Hey guys......I have the pro and ks8000. Question about the pro settings.
Do you guys leave all the screen resolution, hdr, color etc on automatic and let pro detect the 4k/hdr game, or do you change to 4k etc before loading The Show.

                  thanks

I've seen more recommendations to leave everything on auto than anything else. That's what I do. No issues detecting 4K content or HDR.

I researched this AT LENGTH (meaning an entire evening LOL) last week and the end result conclusion is definitely leave your settings on automatic unless you have any issues.

Make sure on your Samsung you have the UHD Color turned on for whatever port your PS4 is plugged into (its under Expert settings)

Now of course like with all electronics TV's improve every year. So HDR will probably improve with the new 2017 version of the 43 inch X800D. And then in 2018 it will be even better and so on and so on. So for those that really only have room for a 43 inch and you want HDR to be mind blowing good then perhaps you may want to wait another 2 or 3 years or so before buying your new 4K HDR TV?

Maybe by the time PlayStation 5 comes out they will have much better performing 43 inch HDR TV's.

For me right now the X800D is more then good enough.

I believe in being patient and waiting but you could wait your life away. Who is to say we don't have a zombie apocalypse next year too and suddenly HDR is not at the top of your priority list

I say use your judgement but I think now is a great time to take the 4K/HDR plunge in terms of value and tech.

What do you mean by "change to 4k"? The tv should just play 4k content in 4k. If you are using hdr there are some settings you want to change. Back light being one. You want that maxed. I got some good help on this site pertaining to that.

I meant resolution on automatic or change to 2160. The guys above answered my question, thanks for the back light reminder.

I also have a KS8000 and I just went in and maxed out the back light. Do you have any recommendations for brightness or anything else? Or is there a site you used to set yours up by? I've searched before and there seems to be varying opinions even though you would think there would be a consensus when using the exact same TV.
