I had it all the way up but put it down to about 3/4 of the way. I'm going to work now so I won't be able to play with this until I get home. Hopefully they can patch it because if you and I saw it then so did a bunch of other people.

I am also getting the washed out effect with HDR anywhere above about 30%. Tried all the visual modes without much difference. Do I need to change the brightness on my TV? (KS8000)

If you have the KS8000 do the following. Make sure you have HDR enabled on your PS4 pro input. Leave everything auto on PS4. When you get the notification saying HDR video is playing put your backlight all the way up. Put HDR slider in game all the way up. You can put dynamic contrast on your TV up. I have mine on medium.

The key is once you're in game don't fiddle with the HDR slider. After you mess with it, it washes everything out and you can't get rid of it unless you exit the game.

Also make sure Smart LED is on high. Otherwise you'll get a max of about 500 nits if it's on low.

I'm starting to think that the TV picture settings play a big role. People with same tv are reporting totally different results.

Thanks for the quick reply! Exiting out of the game and setting the back light really made a difference. This game looks better than amazing. Unbelievable.

On my normal settings that I use with every other game, when HDR is on there is a white-washing look to everything.. like I'm seeing it through a white film. I turned the color all the way up and turned Live Color to high and that helped, but it still seems too white.

I know Philliesfan13 posted about this in the impressions thread. Just wondering if others with this TV are having the same issue, and if they can find settings that alleviate it. I had no problem with HDR in Horizon or Tomb Raider, so it seems to be specific to this game.

I have the same set. What I did was up color to 55 and kept backlight to 35 when I'm in hdr mode. I also have my hdr slider a little bit less than 1/4. Since the tv is not on the high end in terms of nits, someone reminded me that one of the devs suggested to keep the hdr slider low.

Everyone has there own preference so some settings may not work for others. To me, the game looks great on the x800d.

Are you sure you meant Brightness? Normally that hovers around the "middle" of any set.

Brightness should be 45-50 per most all calibration sights.

Yeah. It was the default HDR setting. When out of HDR, the setting is different.

As others have said, your TV settings will play a big role in this.

Also, is it for sure the best route to go to leave the PS4 video output settings on auto? Seems like for stuff like this you may want to be in control of whats happening (RGB full, etc)
