My setup has been posted numerous times but I finally figured out how to get screen shots online.

Re: MLB The Show 17 Supports 4K & HDR on PS4 Pro

After reading this thread the past couple days, I just couldn't take it anymore. Last night, I went out and bought the KS8500 and traded in my OG PS4 for a Pro. Came home and got a digital copy of the show and downloaded all my games to the ps4. I had 2k17 on a disc so I fired that up and messed around with the TV settings and HDR and got the colors really popping. 2k looks amazing on this TV and the pro. I love how you can see the flashbulbs popping off the screen brightly as you are dribbling. I was playing in OKC and they did the Thunder intro in the arena and I was getting so hyped and I don't even like OKC. So immersive.

This morning I woke up and everything was done downloading and I fired up The Show. First game i put on was a day game in San Francisco and oh my goodness. The hype is real. AT&T park in all its glory on display. Then I put on a night game in Oakland as I have been to that park way more times than any other. I have to say, they really nailed stadiums this year. The amount of detail is just jawdropping. Ive been so busy just drooling over the graphics havent had much time to play but there will be plenty of time for that especially once I get sliders locked in while waiting for OSFM. Thanks everyone here who convinced me to make the leap!

That's awesome Casey. Yeah 2k17 has great Pro enhancements too. Glad you're enjoying The Show as well

Let me show you some of my screens and you tell me if they look too dark. Picture 3 is really the only one I consider pretty dark and it's not anything wrong per se IMO because it's outside of the stadium (so it's logical it'd be darker there.)

Did you post the settings you're using anywhere? Looks great!

Just a piece of info for anyone having trouble, my tv only had 1 hdmi port that was supposedly optimized for full 4K capabilities

Anytime using HDR you should have backlight maxed and contrast to a 100. Here are my settings and I'm almost positive these are a bunch of other guys using these same settings.

PS4 - set all visual options to AUTO, do the test when done to verify everything 4K and HDR is working and supported as they should be.

P.S. you will see a setting in the picture menu called HDR+, ignore it and do not turn it on, it's a Samsung thing they came up with to try to make non-HDR content better. You will not be using this feature if you know what's good for you.

I'm gonna bump this post so people don't have to go searching for if.

So I have a 65" Samsung KS8000 and a PS4 Pro... I have the game set to 4K and my HDR is on, other games look great on this tv... so far this hasn't WOW'ed me ( some of the pics posted on this page did though). What does everyone have the HDR intensity set at in game? Also I started right in RTTS... is it possible minor league parks don't look as good as the MLB ones? As in less effort put into those?

I believe the hdr slider is supposed to relate to the nits of your tv.

Yes this is correct. I remember the mlb devs saying that HDR intensity should be set to max for TVs that do 1000 nits HDR or higher so setting the KS8000/8500 to max is perfect. I'd say for OLED it should be set to 50-60% since they're around 500-600 nits. For anyone with other models and brands I'd look at Rtings.com, look up my tv model and see the HDR peak brightness settings and take it from there. For example the Sony x800D which many others have here I'd set HDR intensity from 25-35% and see how it looks at those settings. Alway remember that once you make ANY changes in the options it's going to throw the HDR settings off causing the picture to look bad. So every time you make any changes while testing remember to go back to the main menu and launch the game again..
NBA2K is the standard of sports games period.

I have the x800d and here's the issue when you set it at above 20-25% - colors become extremely washed out and to fix this you have to raise color to 70+ which can saturate some things too much (my issue was with dirt and some grass way too green) and you have to enable live color.

I'm thinking for TVs in the low nits like x800d it has to be even lower. I have it 15 clicks from 0 right now and I was able to leave my color at the default 50 and it looks a lot better. Just playing around with the slider now and a few other small settings to achieve the right look.

But those with lower nit TVs, go even lower than 25% and see what works and barely go up from there.

I'll have to take more screens but man the Reds uniforms look amazing in HDR. I don't even know if this picture does it any justice.
