Re: MLB The Show 17 Supports 4K & HDR on PS4 Pro
Guys we have it backwards.. the HDR is broken at the start until u make a change in game to audio video settings.. try it.. i thought it was on after a restart but its not.. its too dark no matter where the slider is.. kmce you change the settings or tweak the hdr slider it comes on.. yes it will look too intemse abd white will be clipping but now the hdr slider is effecting tge look. It's breathtaking at 30 percent nut any higher seems to really washout my oled.. I'm telling u just try it..

HDR is working correctly if you have really dark spots. HDR doesn't just make everything more vibrant. Trust me, that's not how it's intended to work.Comment

That theory has been debunked already by people who hsve researched HDR. It is not suppose to make things brighter. It is suppose to make things look more natural. So its doing what its suppose to do. The slider still needs to be fixed in terms of working right in game.

Also. You can't capture the look of hdr in an image.. perhaps the patch addressed some of this and they didn't mention it..

Re: MLB The Show 17 Supports 4K & HDR on PS4 Pro
Just try it.. you'll see.. the game should never be that dark.. why would the hdr slider only have any effect after it all brightens.. I'm telling u.. play with the slider for hdr after you're in game.. you will see.. also if u recall from the graphics stream SDS did.. the graphics guys mention raise the slider as much as u can until it's blown out then dial it down.. I thought the same but it's like it's implemented wrong. Just try it.. I have oled b6p 65 inch and my hdr slider is at 50% and looks amazing.. I'll post pics when I can.

It's not backwards, man. My guess is your TV can't do HDR properly so it looks really dim (probably can't get bright enough to show the contrast between deep black shadows and bright lighting). When it washes out your screen, it probably does in fact look better to your eyes but it's not correct setting.

Re: MLB The Show 17 Supports 4K & HDR on PS4 Pro
I have no input on the matter because I do not own an HDR set. Until then, I only have two things to say:
1) I'd prefer that the developers came forward about how it should look/appear, and if they may consider disabling the slider as well. It sounds like a cool idea on paper, but if it's the only game in existence that has one and HDR is really spotty for everybody, maybe they have to find other means of utilizing it. Maybe some TV's that are HDR-ready just aren't the best way of playing with it and using it.
2) ...
I'm telling u guys.. it's not broken any longer on my oled.. peak brightness for hdr on the oled is well under the 1000 nits you can get from many other screens but I'm still getting 600 or so which is plenty bright considering the contrast the oled gives.. look I was trying to help by letting u guys know it's not broken for me now so I'm going back to enjoying the hdr working properly for me.. nevermind

Sorry, just when I read your post this is the kind of image I have in my head.
It's absolutely nothing personal at all (and again, I have no input on the matter so I don't know who is right and wrong in this conversation). Some of us (including me) have posted pics showing the differences between HDR (awesome) and when you adjust settings (washed out blacks and ultra vivid torch mode). On your OLED it makes sense to keep the HDR slider around 25% since it doesn't get bright enough for 1,000 nits.

I really want to donate to OS for you so you can have a custom avatar like this:

Re: MLB The Show 17 Supports 4K & HDR on PS4 Pro
I have an LG B6 oled and it's the best hdr I've ever seen (I returned a Samsung and Sony before i bought the oled) I keep the hdr slider at about 75% because according to rtings my tv can hit mid 700's for nits. To me, hdr breaks and looks worse when I change a setting in game, I prefer the untouched look. More dynamic lighting, the light towers look better etc. Just my 2 cents.
