In other words, is there a TV out there right now that putting the HDR slider at 100 would be beneficial for? Or is that more of a "future-proof" kind of case for now?

      I thought Max was 1,000 nits. So it's 75?

One of the live streams one of the devs mentioned if peak brightness is 1000 nits then you should put your slider at 75. That's why the KS8000/8500 looks as good as it does at max on the HDR slider because it's peak brightness is considerably higher than 1000nits. I imagine the new Sony 930XE would be similar. But I also think the LG OLEDs would look great at max because of their infinite contrast ratios.

Any contrast ratio is infinite if they can achieve perfect black by shutting off pixels. That doesn't mean its peak whites are near other sets.

Granted, they are, but math talk or buzz terns don't guarantee anything in this case.

I was just trying to say that because of the Contrast ratio (call it infinite, call it whatever you like) because of the range of the contrast between it's darkest blacks and brightest whites, the OLEDs will have terrific picture quality with the HDR slider at max.

Cool. Just curious. It doesn't matter for me because my TV is an HDR monster (Sony Z9D) but it's good to know when helping people dial in.

You're right and I agree. I was just stating the infinite ratio would unfortunately not be a reason why.

That was Forbes' TV of the year for 2016. Not just an HDR monster...A monster in general.

So far it's Samsung ks8000 and above models, Sony X930E and the very expensive Sony ZD9 that I can remember of the top of my head. All of of these easily do over 1000 nits with HDR and you can set the intensity slider to the max in MLB the show. None of the OLED are there yet. There are very few TVs that have the UHD Premium certification. Any tv that has that certification means it's an HDR premium tv.

Not sure if you meant to lump in the OLEDs or not, but every LG OLED has a UHD Premium certification, along with the TVs you mentioned that can reach over 1000 nits.

I'd love to see The Show with HDR maxed side by side with the OLEDs as well as the Sammys and the two Sonys you mentioned. I'd be curious to see what the game looked like.

No OLED reaches near 1000 nits at the moment and that's what I said on my post. The OLEDs do great with HDR because of their amazing infinite blacks which is very important for HDR. I'm sure once OLEDs reach that level nothing else will come close as far as HDR.

I'd also like to see how these TVs all look side by side with HDR.

For those who know stuff about tvs would the Samsung KS8500 be a good 4ktv? not just for the Show but for other games that are coming out?

Yes. That's a really good mid range TV.

For those of you with older TVs who are gnashing your teeth about this graphics info, you can get a decent 4K TV with HDR for under $1000. I got mine for about $730. Certainly you could spend up to $2000 or even $3500 on a new TV if you have the budget for that.
Just keep in mind you get what you pay for. A 4k TV under 1k is gonna be bad IMO. You should only get a 4k TV if your thinking 55 or higher. Really the intro is 65 but I dont see anything wrong with say, a SONY 930D. I myself own the samsung 65ks8000 and its a true gem IMO. Love it to death and its on sale at bestbuy for just at 1600 tax included. It would be at their warehouse so if your out in the sticks it might be hard.

Just for further clarification, this 65 inch model was rated best 4k tv for price and performance. Of course QLED and OLED is great if you can afford it, but this was rated "best in Class" by rtings.com and Cnet
