To me, hdr breaks and looks worse when I change a setting in game, I prefer the untouched look. More dynamic lighting, the light towers look better etc. Just my 2 cents.

That TV can do some of the best HDR on the planet, because of the Contrast ratio. Without owning it myself yet, I would guess the slider should be around 60 or 70. Angrysponge, I love the passion in wanting to help but the slider is broken as soon as you touch any of the audio video settings in game. It probably looks ok on the OLED when you do because it's such an outstanding TV for HDR. But it's not how it's intended to look.

I'm still playing with HDR on my LG.

If I put it in HDR Bright or HDR Standard mode, it looks good. If I use HDR Game mode, it looks dingy, all the whites are grayish. Is that normal for Game modes?

I've got all the settings in HDR Game set up the same as HDR Standard (backlight 100, contrast 100, etc.) so I'm not sure why it's do dingy. SDR Game mode looks the same as SDR Standard with the same settings.

I'm hitting OK in HDR Standard, so if input lag isn't too much of an issue, I may just go with HDR Standard. But it's just weird to me that the Game mode looks so much worse.

I'm not sure about the specifics of your TV, but a lot of them don't do HDR in Game Mode as good as the other modes even though they day they do. That's because it turns off some processing behind the scenes.

If it still feels crispy in the normal HDR modes than keep it at that. The other thing, just double check that even Color Space settings are same as the other modes and that it's not accidently changing itself to like HDMI Limited or some blue color temperature etc.

And the HDR thing is a mess. Hopefully we can get some definitive details about how to get that working correctly for everyone.

So how are you playing?? HFR HDR off?

Hdr works perfect on my Sony 43x800d as long as you don't touch the settings. Looks amazing.

                Thanks.

The only difference (after I configured everything) was the HDR Standard has some sort of cinema display enabled and the HDR Game has it disabled. Unfortunately, it's grayed out on both, so I can't see if that's what causes the Game mode to be dingy or not. I guess for now I'll just stick with HDR Standard.

I know this is way off topic but everyone in this thread seems to appreciate a good picture so I thought I'd pass something along. My wife surprised me last night with planet earth 2 in 4k blue ray. Holy moley does it look good on the KS 8000. Ok back on topic, sorry!

I bet it does! Nearly got it off amazon but, as with the first Planet Earth, I'll watch once and then probably never again so...excellent stuff but just a once-around for me.

Back to The Show.....I've been living with the game with HDR on full and while I can agree with others that daylight games are a bit dark, the evening and night games look spectacular. Also the colors are much better across the board. I mean, even look at the menus. The selection highlight color is like an orangey-gold in standard, and yellow w/HDR.

One of the biggest things to sell me was the players who wear gold chains; they are actually gold w/HDR on. I think that seems to be the biggest thing, aside from the light/dark dynamics, is that the colors are truest in this mode.

Having said that and to revisit my earlier point, day games are still a bit muted on brightness, IMO. I go and play Uncharted 4 in HDR (Backlight all the way up on both games, thanks again Art LOL) and it's brightness level is spot on.

I think it possible that by using the slider, the San Diego team didn't have a perfect implementation of HDR for the Show, so that leaves a lot of folks to fumble about to find their setting they are happy with.

Anyway, big props to Art and ODogg in this thread. I'm happy w/HDR on 100% on my KS8000.

I have the LG OLED 55B, what is the recommended HDR slider setting on this TV? I've read everything from 25-30 to 75-80. Any sort of consensus?

If I play in enhanced visuals mode instead of 4k is there any effect from having the HDR on or no? Asking because in 4k hdr the game is really choppy, but in enhanced visuals it's much better, just wondering if it's worth the effort of turning the hdr back on in this mode, thanks

I have the B6 also. I use about 75 and it looks great to me. I set it based on the lights in the light towers at Fenway on night games. All the way up you couldn't see any definition between the individual bulbs. You can start to see delineation around 80 so for me 75 is perfect.
