    Blzer,

Thanks for that! I also took a look at your post (#464) about (non RTTS play) I play exclusively with Player Lock so I was wondering if the PS4 Pro would speed up or make (buttery smooth) some of the animations that are very noticeable when you play from that perspective.

Some examples that have been around in the game for a while with this style of play include:

•*Running the basis (player shakes and stutters) when running full force.

    • Missing a base branch point or diving and missing results in your controlled player getting up and running super fast sometimes in the wrong direction.

So I was hoping a PS4 PRO with high frame rate might address some of those issues.

      Re: PS4 vs PS4 pro

^ Not sure. I'm transferring data from my PS4 to Pro which is going to take over five hours, so I wouldn't be able to tell you until tomorrow anyway. However, I haven't played with Player Lock before so I wouldn't be able to make the comparison.

In order to draw some comparison though, cutscenes aren't a rock-solid 60 FPS or anything. They still dip even on the Pro. They still seem to "draw" smoother though, like I feel most framerates are still doubling even if they're still below 60, which is nice.

Unfortunately I can't help you regarding Player Lock, but hopefully somebody else can.

-In the PS4 Dashboard under SETTINGS

          -goto SOUND and SCREEN

          -goto VIDEO OUTPUT SETTINGS

          -change resolution to 720P

-go back to MLB 17 and enjoy much smoother framerates

Most people by default either have the display set at 1080P or Auto (which most likely will be using 1080P)

Now before you say it, I know, the lower resolution will degrade/blur the picture somewhat. However, the trade off is a smoother all around framerate that gives you a taste at the framerates that the Pro will yield. After several innings, I dont even mind the resolution difference and I love the buttery smooth pitching motions, swings, and overall play in the field. Much more fluid!

Enjoy and let me know your thoughts!
Changing the resolution to 720 looks like PS3 quality with all of the jaggies. I can't do it. The frame rate at 1080P is fine for me and improved over last year. My biggest gripe with the game is that they did not offer down sampling for 1080p users. That's a big "whatever" by them in my book. Obviously they don't have this figured out, which is a bit mind boggling for a Sony developer with the company's new "PRO" console. If you look at the comments in the 4K / HDR thread, you will see that just about everyone is having to mess with their TV settings, etc to get the game to look right. LOL....I'm not trying to sound harsh and slam the dev team but this is a joke. I can't believe that there are people actually running out to buy 4K TV's over this game

From the pitches coming in to the pitch meter in and of itself. Is this worth $400? Not for one game. I think this is just "how the PS4 should have been in the first place," though. I do wish all games like Ratchet & Clank gave us a 60 FPS option as well. No seen benefits yet in Vita Remote Play. In fact, I've noticed more stutter so far to be honest.

Someday I will also get a 4K television (likely a monitor first) so I can settle this HDR dispute with ya'll once and for all haha. Until then, I have to make a decision whether I'm going to keep my OG PS4 on top of the Pro, or if it would just collect dust. Furthermore, I don't know how easy it is to go from one PS4 to another and just hop on and say, "Yay, transferring files was a cinch!" like in an automatic way. Seems a bit like a struggle, but I'm not too sure.

Very impressed, but also very much in the mindset of: "We should have always been here." It always surprises me when people can't detect framerate differences, but I sure hope they would notice it here. Beautiful game even made more beautiful.
I'm assuming you're on 1080p than? With the PRO, are you seeing the same amount of jaggies as you did on the PS4? Here's my thought's on this. I think the jaggies we see on the players bats at home plate and during different lighting scenarios is because of the changes that were made in last years game with the new lighting engine. Prior to 2016, it wasn't there like it is now. I was hoping that 2017 would have been an improvement but it didn't happen. I was hoping that it would be cleaned up when playing on the PRO at 1080p but haven't seen a confirmation. Can you look into it and let us know?

Same amount of jaggies. Clear as day on player equipment and stadium architecture.

I myself am not one to theorize on this, but the lighting could be a reason. It could also be that they are now rendering so many things they couldn't handle anti-aliasing on top of all of it (especially with the improved framerates, even on the base PS4).

In your opinion is the pro worth it if you only have a 1080p TV and a base ps4?

Thats what i had and by god was it worth it, for the HFR mode alone.

Ill get a 4k TV in time which then means the Pro gives me even more benefits.

In my opinion, not if you aren't planning on getting a 4K television in the future. Otherwise you'd feel like you're paying $800 for a console to have smoother framerates (and perhaps less jaggies, depending on the game).

The only exception to the above is if you planned on buying a second PS4 anyway, then you ask yourself whether or not you are willing to pay the extra loot for it.

I plan on keeping the Pro though, if that's what you're asking. I don't have very much loose cash, but I think I'll upgrade to 4K pretty soon.

If you trade in, it's close to only $200, and I'd say it's definitely worth it for that, even just for one game. I bought the OG mainly just for this game, so the $200 upgrade is worth it too imo. Plus the way I look at it is that this is sort of like buying a video card upgrade for a PC, and I've spent much more than $200 on a video card before.
