Re: PS4 vs PS4 pro
I'm disappointed and confused that SCE did not include down sampling for 1080P users when several other games are already doing so. How did a Sony owned developer not do this?? MLB The Show is a flag ship game. And if the strategy is to sell PS4 Pro's, why not give 1080P owners the extra incentive to trade up? There's a huge segment of the gaming market they're missing new PRO sales with. IMO, its a big swing and a miss. As Dan Patrick used to say..."and the whiff"! I have a 70" Sony KDL70850D which is only 3 years old. The picture is awesome and I am not about to run out and plunk down $2500+ for a 4K TV. Not gonna happen. Especially when there are other games that include down sampling. And it seems to me that people with 4K TV's that have HDR are experiencing problems in getting the game to display correctly. What a waste. I say this is a big miss by SCE because if they had included down sampling, I would have already traded in my PS4 for a PRO. And I know there are others out there like me. As is stands now, I'm waiting to see if there's a patch in the near future for 1080P owners. Otherwise, I'm in no rush. The game looks very good on PS4 and the frame rate is much better than last years.Comment

Re: PS4 vs PS4 pro
In separate but maybe related note, Naughty Dog also specifically patched downsampling out of TLOU:R after it was initially included in the game's first pro patch. The Show isn't the first game to not include it but it definitely confuses me a little.

QUICK TIP to get PS4 PRO Framerates on PS4 Standard
For those of you, (like me) with standard PS4 systems, that may be interested in achieving the buttery smooth framerates that the PS4 Pro offers when the High Framerate feature is enabled.....Here's a quick and easy tip that most people may not even realize
-In the PS4 Dashboard under SETTINGS
-goto SOUND and SCREEN
-goto VIDEO OUTPUT SETTINGS
-change resolution to 720P
-go back to MLB 17 and enjoy much smoother framerates
Most people by default either have the display set at 1080P or Auto (which most likely will be using 1080P)
Now before you say it, I know, the lower resolution will degrade/blur the picture somewhat. However, the trade off is a smoother all around framerate that gives you a taste at the framerates that the Pro will yield. After several innings, I dont even mind the resolution difference and I love the buttery smooth pitching motions, swings, and overall play in the field. Much more fluid!
Enjoy and let me know your thoughts!Comment

Re: QUICK TIP to get PS4 PRO Framerates on PS4 Standard
Since the PS4, I've preferred my 720p version as well for alot of games definitely including this one. I always thought our tv's had something to do with the output as well but I don't know so much about the topic. Either way, I'm more comfortable with the smoothness from lowered resolution plus I remember reading somewhere around a developer mention that 720p is usually the optimal resolution for their PS4 game as well.
I intend to do all the PS4 Pro stuff just because of this game though, you can just tell by the naked eye the difference, it's that obvious. But this is a valuable tip, in my opinion.Red LegendComment

I'm merging this with the existing PS4 thread.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

Re: PS4 vs PS4 pro
There is a big difference. I just played MLB the show on a 1080 Non HDR tv today.
I myself have the Sony 930 E 4k with HDR. There is a HUGE difference in my opinion.
Not sure if is the correct thread as I am brand new but I was trying to get in on the TV discussion thread. If someone cant point me in the right direction to find that thread greatly appreciated.
Thanks and nice meeting everyone.

Re: PS4 vs PS4 pro
So what happened to the post from the guy who said turning the ps4 to 720p to get the high frame rate for the PS4 Pro on regular PS4?.
I came back in like two minutes and it was gone. I wanted to try it out so I could test it out. I might consider buying a PS4 Pro.Proud member of the 0.04%Comment

Re: PS4 vs PS4 pro
Played a couple of innings on the Pro.
First of all, I will admit that the framerate from the OG PS4 was already pretty good (non-RTTS play). However, "buttery smooth" is everything for the Pro version. From the pitches coming in to the pitch meter in and of itself. Is this worth $400? Not for one game. I think this is just "how the PS4 should have been in the first place," though. I do wish all games like Ratchet & Clank gave us a 60 FPS option as well. No seen benefits yet in Vita Remote Play. In fact, I've noticed more stutter so far to be honest.
Someday I will also get a 4K television (likely a monitor first) so I can settle this HDR dispute with ya'll once and for all haha. Until then, I have to make a decision whether I'm going to keep my OG PS4 on top of the Pro, or if it would just collect dust. Furthermore, I don't know how easy it is to go from one PS4 to another and just hop on and say, "Yay, transferring files was a cinch!" like in an automatic way. Seems a bit like a struggle, but I'm not too sure.
Very impressed, but also very much in the mindset of: "We should have always been here." It always surprises me when people can't detect framerate differences, but I sure hope they would notice it here.
