Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

What would the Blue Jays have to give up for Travis Jankowski?

In 64 at bats this year he has a .281/.378/.437 line with 1 homer, 3 RBI, 13 runs and 4 stolen bases. 9 walks to 25 ks, 0.5 WAR, 10.4 RC, 1.92 RF.

I know it's only early but I am looking at making a deal in the next month or so.

    Thanks!

I've been trying to gauge his value for the past couple of days. A few posts earlier I proposed a trade for him and Ryan Buchter to the Orioles. I think it's a reasonable deal.

Yea I saw that. Not sure of his value at this point plus don't know how to compare the deal you proposed to Toronto's farm. Maybe we will get some answers soon

From the research I have done on him he projects any where from a possible Adam Eaton - like player to a forth outfielder depending on his bat. His value in his is speed and defense. Add that on to the fact that he has a little less then a year of service time makes it difficult to gauge value.

I don't think the #9 trade is good because I'm a Mets fan and we have Plawecki coming in soon and Mesoraco would just cause a log jam at Catcher. Maybe get ride of either Molina or Cechini in the deal and maybe though but T'D is still gonna be there blocking Plawecki

This is true. I wouldn't want to give up a ton of the farm for a deal for him but would take a chance on him. If he pans out I would be happy. If not I'll make a larger deal come playoff time. Prospect value are we talking like a B and C for him? Or a handful of Cs?

30 SB's in 131 games. UZR/150 of 20.6 in almost 800 IP in CF. Double digit walk rate (ewww, that k%) and a nice spread of almost 100 points between AVG and OBP. Though last years line of 245/332/313 doesn't exactly jump of the Fangraphs page at me, everything else this "kid" (age 26) does screams future leadoff hitter for the Padres.

I don't know as much about him as I should but you're looking at 60+mm in surplus value. This is big math rounded without a depreciation. He's under control until '22 but coming into his age 32 season, he probably won't "cash in" during FA. If he continues to play like this SD (or someone) will offer him a deal to buy out his arb years and probably year 1 of FA.

Two really good pieces and maybe a third depending on the farm and if you package someone to come with him. Plus, why is SD giving up on him? Also, out of curiosity... B POT rating in game?

Yea that makes sense looking at the stats. He is a B yes. I guess he won't be a fit for me! I would rather go for someone else if I have to give a couple of solid prospects. Plus you're right, The padres wouldn't want to give up on him already.

I'm just struggling to find a cheap 4th OF option at this point who can hit for contact and has speed. Maybe I'm being too picky!

Leonys Martin got DFA by Seattle . I traded for him to be my everyday center fielder for the rest of the season . Fast , Good arm .

Edit: Angel Pagan can be picked up if he's still a free agent . I picked him up as well ( Wasn't comfortable with the White Soxs outfield)

To get the most value out of him you put him in Center. The Padres are set with Margot in center and they have Renfroe and Alex Dickerson in left. Several teams were connected to him in the winter. To get good value for him he probably needs packaged with a good young reliever

I'm just struggling to find a cheap 4th OF option at this point who can hit for contact and has speed. Maybe I'm being too picky!

Young, cheap, fast OF that can hit for contact...aren't we all! I'll poke around a little but like Jdiaz brought up, L.Martin can be had for a 10 game package of box seats at Rogers. He can fill in until you find better (maybe next years FA class?).

I'm all about getting K.Pillar some help out there. I want you guys at full strength when the O's take ya'll to the woodshed this year. We owe you one!

Everything I've read in the last 20 min or so tells me this kid can play anywhere in the grass and add value immediately. I came across one of those rumors that involved J.Iglesias and DET said no. That should throw up red flags everywhere on SD perceived value of him.

I'm going to go back and see what your deal was. Weren't you the guy that wanted to trade A.Jones? Was this his replacement?

                                CF Travis Jankowski
                                RP Ryan Buchter

                                Padres Get:
                                SP Cody Sedlock #2 Prospect
                                1B/OF Trey Mancini #5 Prospect
                                3B Jomar Reyes #10 Prospect

Fair deal? I'm thinking of replacing Sedlock with Hunter Harvey the O's #3 prospect
A small win for BAL depending on your view of R.Buchter. Otherwise fair value and good leveraging of an established relationship (see: B.Brach).
