No. Wheeler has spent the past two years on the DL and has lost a lot of team control because of that, they couldn't even get a RP for Bruce and like Ken mentioned, they already have a young 1B so Smith would be blocked completely.

    The Bruce/Wheeler pairing is a no-go

Thanks. Guess I will wait for off season like suggested.

It just doesn't make sense for the Pirates. Sometimes its hard to mesh value and a trade making sense for both sides

Yeh. Im glad we have this thread since my bball knowledge is lacking. Adds a level of immersion since its like interacting with a GM. Thanks again.

Speaking of the Mets, what would it take to get Moustakas to NY? About to start year 2. Still in KC. Not around the game right now so no stats.

It doesn't appear BOS needs Vogt, solve 2 problems with one trade...give BOS equivalent value for Vogt and move him to TOR. What did they give, 2 C's?
Thanks for the reply! Boston sent Brock Holt to Oakland for Vogt straight up. Would one of these guys work for Soto or the Atlanta guys?

John Mora RF- 23YO/70POT/53OVR (signed him as FA to replace an injury)

Would it take both or more to get Vogt?

Seeing the talk of Zack Wheeler in here makes me curious as to what his value would be in a trade?

Okay, this is it. I'm at July 31 and my next game is August 1. I have to do something tonight if I'm going to make a move.

                  Last minute ideas:

I think Archer will be too expensive. But I'd really like Sonny Gray (and Doolittle if possible). But I really hate the thought of trading Baez as I wouldn't have a backup shortstop and I like that he can play anywhere.

So, would an Jiminez, Almora, and de la Cruz package get Gray (and maybe Doolittle)?

Think you might need a decent fourth piece if you're adding Doolittle into that deal. Might even need it just to get Gray, but I like those pieces.

Some other ideas (assuming these teams are out of the race and these pitchers are having typical years):

Estrada for Candelario/Cease + a low level pitching prospect if he's performing well

                    Liriano for Underwood

Quintana for Cease + Candelario + de la Cruz
                    or for Jimenez + Clifton

Ian Kennedy for Clifton + 1 lower level prospect

Ervin Santana for de la Cruz + one lower level prospect

Tanaka for Zagunis + Clifton + one lower level prospect

Darvish for Cease + Zagunis/de la Cruz

Did these really quickly so values might be off.

Looking to upgrade my LF or SS position and I'm 2 weeks away from the deadline.

Only available LFS on the trade block are

Khris Davis - .260, 23 HR, 55 RBI. 83 Overall, final year of his contract.
                      Melky Cabrera - .240, 6HR, 28 RBI

                      Available SS

                      Marcus Semien - .226, 16 HR, 44 RBI
                      Eric Stamets - .185, 8HR, 0 RBI
                      Nick Franklin - .244, 2 HR, 7 RBI

What would it take to get Davis and or Semien. A package deal is probably out as I don't want to give away my top top guys. I'm using the Padres and 53-40.

[QUOTE=Gagnon39;2048853519]I think they deal Reyes before Kelly.

long time reader before signing up a little while back.. but die-hard Cards fan.. to this post a couple pages back, no way Reyes goes for Carson. Big believers in both (as most are around here) but Mozeliak has already said as much -- Reyes is his one 'untouchable', has been for a few years now -- and after seeing him at the ML level last year, even more so. Kelly could be had, but it'd take a Quintana type of deal to let him go.

Yadi's extension has completely opened the door for Kelly to be traded. Wouldn't surprise me if he is at this deadline if the right deal comes around. Same with Bader now that Mags has come along nicely.

I am still looking for a deal. It's the first day of July in my Blue Jays franchise. I have forced trades turned on and went for Howie Kendrick using the advice I received from here. It kept coming up "this isn't what we are looking for at this time". I'm assuming because of his contract? Either way I have to move on and find a deal for a 2B/LF.

What would it take to get Solarte (Padres) or Alcides Escobar (Royals)? I am also considering the Dozier deal.

Also, the Nats are 15 games back. Would they move Murphy? If so what would it cost. I'm willing to pay. He has 2 years left on his deal.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

I know this isn't realistic but I think it might work...

I'm looking to add some pop/support in the middle of my lineup.
I like Ryan Zimmerman, I know he's having a huge year IRL but in my game he's good but not like IRL(.285ish AVG, 14HR this past year)
I have Sandoval who can hit against righties and play decent defense at 3B (can also play 1B in game)

I have SP Alex Wood from a previous acquisition and I'm looking to move him since I already have 3 lefties in my rotation. (Wood was in my pen before he moved to the rotation IRL then I made him a SP) Anyways, he's a starter now and is rated around 88.

I hope you're following along lol...

I was gonna flip Wood and Sandoval for Zimmerman, maybe a couple of others involved but these are the big pieces.
The contracts would work out pretty good in the end Sandoval @$18mil and Zim @$15mil.

Wood would actually be going back to the Dodgers for Eric Hosmer (who they signed for some crazy reason, gotta love that 30 team control) so the Nats would be getting a star 1B(I'll have to send someone else from the Nats with Wood to the Dodgers to make it somewhat even)
Sandoval would give the Nats support behind Rendon who is scuffling and a backup at 1B.

Mind you this is in 2018.
It would make some sense for all teams involved.

                              To sum up...
Nats get Eric Hosmer and Pablo Sandoval
                              Red Sox get Ryan Zimmerman
Dodgers get Alex Wood and at least another decent piece.
*Possibly some other flyer guys involved too.

                              Thoughts?
(I know it's not realistic but I can't stand Sandoval in my team and Zimmerman in-game is not hitting as well as IRL)

Gerardo Parra is having a career year in my franchise, slashing .323/.383/.561 with 13 HRs and 9 SB with a 2.3 WAR thru 71 games (mid-late June).

The Blue Jays are in the hunt, leading the AL East but their OF outside of Pillar has been absolutely awful. They are currently playing Dom Brown in RF slashing a nasty .223/.302/.350.

Would the Rockies be able to cash in on Parras great year and get Pompey + SRF from the Jays?

Parra has 1.5 years left on his current deal at 9.1 mill/year
