Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

In my franchise Jose Abreu is having not only a career year but a insanely great year. He's hitting .349/.627/.382. He leads the league in Hits, HRs ,RBIs if the season were to end he would win the triple crown. I would like to gauge his value since im on the fence on trading him away. Hes most of my offense if not all of it and im currently contending because of it. Honestly i am considering trading him away because i am rebuilding and i just dont have enough to get thru the post season if i get there.

    Edit: Also leading is AVG.

      Melky Cabrera - .240, 6HR, 28 RBI

      Available SS

      Marcus Semien - .226, 16 HR, 44 RBI
      Eric Stamets - .185, 8HR, 0 RBI
      Nick Franklin - .244, 2 HR, 7 RBI

What would it take to get Davis and or Semien. A package deal is probably out as I don't want to give away my top top guys. I'm using the Padres and 53-40.
You could look at Cozart if you're only looking for a fill-in for a playoff run. Assuming the Reds are out of it. Both Davis and Semien or Cozart will take B prospects.

What would it take to get Solarte (Padres) or Alcides Escobar (Royals)? I am also considering the Dozier deal.

Also, the Nats are 15 games back. Would they move Murphy? If so what would it cost. I'm willing to pay. He has 2 years left on his deal.

Escobar would be the cheapest since he's about to be a FA. Solarte would take a B prospect maybe 2. Something like Bichette. If you were to get Murphy you'd start with Vlad Jr. Murphy is underpaid and a pretty amazing player.

      Thank you
A whole bunch of nothing. Dickey is like 43 and will lose ratings hard in the game. Same with Colon. Phillips was traded for 2 non-prospects this offseason and he's been bad in your chise. Garcia is an older Cuban player who isn't good. And Suzuki is playing like a poor backup for you. Pretty much you're looking at some C prospects and low end ones at that.

I like Ryan Zimmerman, I know he's having a huge year IRL but in my game he's good but not like IRL(.285ish AVG, 14HR this past year)
I have Sandoval who can hit against righties and play decent defense at 3B (can also play 1B in game)

I have SP Alex Wood from a previous acquisition and I'm looking to move him since I already have 3 lefties in my rotation. (Wood was in my pen before he moved to the rotation IRL then I made him a SP) Anyways, he's a starter now and is rated around 88.

I hope you're following along lol...

I was gonna flip Wood and Sandoval for Zimmerman, maybe a couple of others involved but these are the big pieces.
The contracts would work out pretty good in the end Sandoval @$18mil and Zim @$15mil.

Wood would actually be going back to the Dodgers for Eric Hosmer (who they signed for some crazy reason, gotta love that 30 team control) so the Nats would be getting a star 1B(I'll have to send someone else from the Nats with Wood to the Dodgers to make it somewhat even)
Sandoval would give the Nats support behind Rendon who is scuffling and a backup at 1B.

Mind you this is in 2018.
It would make some sense for all teams involved.

      To sum up...
Nats get Eric Hosmer and Pablo Sandoval
      Red Sox get Ryan Zimmerman
Dodgers get Alex Wood and at least another decent piece.
*Possibly some other flyer guys involved too.

      Thoughts?
(I know it's not realistic but I can't stand Sandoval in my team and Zimmerman in-game is not hitting as well as IRL)
There's a whole lot going on here. I think the Sox would have to add a pretty decent prospect going to LAD since they're ridding themselves of Panda. I don't think it would take Groome or Devers, but something like Dalbec, Travis, Raudes, something pretty decent.

The Blue Jays are in the hunt, leading the AL East but their OF outside of Pillar has been absolutely awful. They are currently playing Dom Brown in RF slashing a nasty .223/.302/.350.

Would the Rockies be able to cash in on Parras great year and get Pompey + SRF from the Jays?

Parra has 1.5 years left on his current deal at 9.1 mill/year

That's asking too much for Parra I think. I don't think he's enough of an upgrade to give up SRF. Why wouldn't they use SRF to get a better player. You could probably do Connor Greene and Pompey, but I doubt they would do SRF

I think the Twins would take 2 average prospects for Hughes, and a low ceiling prospect for JRM.
Alright, planning to trade for Phil Hughes (to use a reliever) and John Ryan Murphy as the Yankees before I start my 2017 season. The last that I had asked for thoughts, the consensus seemed to be two average prospects for Hughes and a low ceiling guy for John Ryan Murphy. How does the following package sound:

Hughes + Murphy for OF Estevan Florial and INF Wilkerman Garcia.

Florial and Garcia rank #15 and #16 on the Top 30, but they are kind of lower in the system. I guess the question is does a higher ceiling guy but further away attract more than a lower ceiling but closer to the bigs guys like say OF Billy McKinney and INF Thairo Estrada? What do you guys think?

For Murphy you're gonna have to give up a ton. He is one of the best hitters in the league and a second baseman at that with a good contract. Going back to this from a few pages ago.

This was for Sonny Gray and Sean Doolittle.

However, I'm really wanting to hang onto Baez the more I look at things moving forward. Would any of these alternatives work? I'm sitting on the trade screen as we speak as I can't play another game until I make a move or decide to wait until the offseason.

Possible packages for Sonny Gray and Sean Doolittle:

Albert Almora Jr. (A potential, still just 22), Dylan Cease, Jeimer Candelario and Eddy Martinez.

Ian Happ and Oscar de la Cruz and Trevor Clifton.

                    Eloy Jiminez and Trevor Clifton.

Yea I know I would have to give up a lot. But imo I think he would put me over the top. I'm already in first and Washington is in last. I had to send Travis to AAA with his .191/.236 average/OBP.

Solarte is also intriguing because he can play all over the field and has a few years of control. Wouldn't mind giving up Bichette and another piece. Escobar isn't the best option but he has speed and contact for the end of my lineup. I wanted Howie Kendrick but the CPU won't let me acquire him for some reason despite force trades on. Dozier is also an idea but I already have a deal for him from previous posts here.

Any idea what else i would need to add for Solarte, and if I have listed enough for Escobar? Also, would listen to suggestions if anyone has them. Have hole in 2B and LF currently filled by role players and rookies that I would like to have addressed by the deadline (2 weeks away in my franchise)

                      Thanks

What would it take to get Nick Castellanos to the Mets? .257/10/47/.5War at the break. Tigers have sold off all major names except Cabrera, J.Wilson, Verlander, McCann and Castellanos.

What would I get for jim Johnson? He has been argueably the best closer in my franchise that is in a poor team. He has 22/22 saves, 1.78 era, and a k/9 of almost 11.

I've decided to go with a different trade, no Zimmerman, no Panda.(I outrighted Panda to AAA hoping for a taker but no taker, suprise suprise.)

Again it's not realistic but the Mets signed Jake Arietta so there's that too.

I went with comparable ratings and they're pretty darn comparable...

                            Mets get:
Alex Wood (88), Matt Dominguez(80 and a quality player in-game) and Henry Owens (74 I think)
                            - Wood will be used for another trade, Dominguez gives the Mets a starting 3B with Wright as an alternative and DL bound as usual, Owens basically washes out with Gsellman since the Mets have a full rotation already.

                            Red Sox get:
Todd Frazier (88), Josh Edgin(78 I think), Robert Gsellman(72, and a year younger than Owens)
                            - Frazier fills a big hole in my lineup and at 3B, Edgin provides me with a 2nd lefty in my pen and Gsellman is depth at the moment but could move into the rotation in the near future.

Mets then traded Wood and a lower level A potential prospect to the Dodgers for Eric Hosmer.

I may flip Hosmer for someone more valuable for the Mets as Dominic Smith is almost ready and Hosmer is signed for the next 4 years.

I just gotta find a home for Hosmer, could be with the 'Stros?

                              MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

As the Red Sox, I'm looking to unload Sandy Leon (118 AB, .246, 1 HR, 8 RBI, 11 R, 7 BB, 5 2B, 1 3B) and was hoping to get a young-ish reliever in return. Obviously not a star or top prospect type, but someone who is just kind of sitting in AAA with no real spot on the major league team, or someone who's struggled in their opportunities.

Also keep in mind that Leon has 2 more years of control after 2017.

My idea is to create space for Swihart who's hitting .306, 4 HR, 22 RBI, 27 R, 173 AB in AAA, plus I could use some more relief depth.

I looked at the teams that could use an upgrade at catcher and went from there... some you may agree with, some maybe not:

                              Bruce Rondon (DET) - 1-0, 12.2 IP, 20 K, 8 BB, 3.55 ERA, 1.42 WHIP (MLB)
                              Andrew Bailey (LAA) - 0-0, 5.1 IP, 7 K, 1 BB, 0.00 ERA, 0.94 WHIP (AAA) (Try for round 2)
                              Cody Buckel (LAA) - 4-2, 36.2 IP, 39 K, 27 BB, 4.17 ERA, 1.77 WHIP (AAA)
Justin Miller (LAA) - 2-0, 30.1 IP, 37 K, 4 BB, 0.30 ERA, 0.69 WHIP (AAA) (He may be less likely as LAA bullpen has struggled so he could get the call soon)
                              Neftali Feliz (MIL) - 0-4, 15.0 IP, 14 K, 5 BB, 10 SV, 9.60 ERA, 1.87 WHIP (MLB)
                              Jared Hughes (MIL) - 0-0, 6.0 IP, 1 K, 7 BB, 18.00 ERA, 3.00 WHIP (MLB)
                              Jacob Barnes (MIL) - 2-3, 29.0 IP, 27 K, 15 BB, 6.21 ERA, 2.03 WHIP (MLB)
Fernando Rodney (ARI) - 1-2, 14.1 IP, 12 K, 14 BB, 8 SV, 5.65 ERA, 2.51 WHIP (MLB) (Obviously not young, but could help out my big league pen with a change of scenery maybe)

All but the Tigers are completely out of the playoff race, so acquiring Leon would be a setup for next season for them.

If you're looking for a lefty I acquired Ian Krol from the Braves and he's been great for me. I think he's 25 out 26 years old too, so he should fit the mold you're looking for.
