You're right it's probably better suited for franchise thread. Idk if stole him though, the A's put Gray on the block probably because it's the last year of his deal and they're in last place. Rutherford is a top 50 prospect and Austin is a B potential prospect.

How was Gray pitching at the time of the trade. That changes things

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

I'm at the deadline in a Padres franchise. Somehow I'm 1 game under .500 but I want to deal any pieces I can as I don't think i'll truly be able to contend for another two years. Here are the players I'd like to/would be willing to move:

        Pitchers
Christian Friedrich is 4-5 with a 3.56 ERA and 71 Ks in 68 innings. Not sure if he could get me anything
Quackenbush is 7-2 out of the pen with a 3.24 ERA
Carter Capps has a 3.22 with 53 Ks in 36 innings and 1.05 WHIP
Ryan Buchter has a 2.52 ERA with 31 Ks in 24 innings
Maurer is leading the league in saves with 26 with a 4.24 ERA

        Position Players
Solarte is hitting .266 with 7 homers and 29 RBIs
Spangenberg is .288 with 30 RBIs and 26 runs

What, if any, pieces could I trade for prospects?

What would be a realistic trade for me to trade away Jordy Mercer? I want to move Alen Hanson to SS and see if Newman develops quickly. And would I have to involve Cutch in any sorta deal?

Forgot to put how teams were doing.

            NL
Giants/Dodgers/Diamondbacks are all tied for first
Cards are pushing the Cubs for first, 3 games back
Nationals are running away with the division
Cards Phillies and Marlins are pushing for a wild card spot

            AL
Sox and Jays are tied for first with Rays a game back
Indians are 2.5 back from the tigers
Angels lead the west with the mariners 4 back and astros and rangers 6 back

            Major injuries
Brad Miller is out 4 months
Carlos Gomes is out 6 months

Nearing the deadline with my Marlins franchise, looking to add youth. Cubs are leading the division even though they have injuries to John Lackey and Pedro Strop. I have Edison Volquez who is 2-6 with a 3.73 ERA and Brad Ziegler with a sub 3.30 ERA as well. With the need for both, could I package these two for Jeimer Candarlario?

His overall was down to an 83 but now on a contender it's back up to an 85.

That's not what I was looking for. How was his WAR, his K/9, his FIP, ERA, all the pitching stats. If he was pitching like an ace you didn't pay enough

In my Yankee franchise, the marlins sent Gordon to the Rays for Archer. Huge A.I deal!

Not sure what his stats were. I'll get back to you on that when I play later tonight.

That wouldn't get it done for Archer. I know it happened in your franchise but it isn't a realistic or fair trade

You just can't get Urias and keep Swanson. He's still 20, he has 6 years of team control and he's already shown he has top of the rotation stuff.

Last year Urias was listed as the 36th most valuable trade asset in the majors by Fangraphs. It wouldn't shock me if the Dodgers asked for more than Chris Sale got back. Guys like Julio Urias don't really come around very often. He's the best pitching prospect we've seen since Jose Fernandez

There were other pieces the Marlins sent their way but Gordon was the big chip.

Doesn't change anything. A light hitting speedy PED user doesn't headline an Archer trade
