I don't intend on trading all these people, but just want to understand possible returns. Thanks.

    - Steven Wright
    - Brock Holt
    - Christian Vasquez
    - Blake Swihart (Would wanna keep one of him and Vaz just looking at value)
    - Joe Kelly
    - Craig Kimbrel
    - Chris Young
    - Drew Pomeranz
    - Mitch Moreland
Kimbrel is likely the best piece out of all of those guys. And then Pomeranz. And then the rest really aren't that enticing.

Because we do realistic trades and the timing of his question leads me to believe he is asking in the sense that Kaprielian is hurt and won't help his team for a while. The phrasing he used also made the think that

What I mean is this. You don't ask if a prospect that's in the top 100 has value unless you're assuming the injury happened

Given a lack of franchise information the standard measuring stick for trades is real life.

Kinda odd if he's the type of player that emulates real life injuries in franchise. Those types of people usually don't make moves unless they happen in real life as well. So kinda weird that he is asking in that sense in my opinion.

If you want to package him along with one of Torres/Frazier and one of Mateo/Rutherford, you could likely bring Quintana back into your system (since you can't do more than 3 players without doing another deal for a random low end prospect for other peices, it would have to look like this). You also should edit Q's contract to be 4 years instead of 2 since in real life, he has 2 very team friendly option years.

Plus, that kind of trade gives you a front-of-the-rotation arm and you would still have your young, cost-controlled players at the MLB level along with additional prospects.

You would be correct. I was talking about the franchise that I only act as the GM and I havent started that yet so I would keep him in A ball for the season of 2017 so he doesnt have any stats. I am going to continue to act like he did not get hurt in my franchise that I have already started and I play through the games since the season was already started before he got hurt.

I have no interest in Quintana. In my opinion he is overrated and at the end of his contract he will not be worth Torres alone let alone other pieces. Just my opinion since I expect Torres to be a 8 WAR/yr kind of player.

You have a 100% right to your opinion, but I just want to make sure you realize how rare it is to have an 8 WAR season. There have been 78 8+ WAR seasons since 1980 and a lot of those are repeats like Bonds, Trout, peak Utley, Pujols, A-Rod etc.

We're talking roughly 2 players per year hit that threshold

True. That is why no one has traded for Quintana. He's good, but he isn't a number 1 starter. He is more of a 2 or 3 in a rotation. In my opinion the White Sox need to accept a trade that is headlined by a number 5 prospect if not lower. I'd say that a deal should be with prospects in the range 5-20. Maybe throw in a player like Drew Hutchinson and that should get a deal done

Quintana is better than Hamels and on a more friendly deal. His floor is talent along the lines of the Hamels to Texas deal

I do understand and realize but i feel he will have at least a 7 WAR season and will hover more around 6 WAR consistently with the potential of a 8 WAR season. I could eat crow but I am a huge believer that he is the next great Yankee.

So just for comparisons of value. What type of big league player could Kap have gotten me before and after the injury? Thanks

He could headline for something pretty good. Not an elite player or anything but a valuable guy

I do think Q is pretty good and im thinking he is a number 2 starter on most teams but his contract is what makes him so valuable but they are asking way to much for him. I do not think the Yankees would touch him unless the asking price went down to at least Mateo being the headliner. I do not see them trading any of their top 4 prospects unless they were absolutely blown away where they were winning the deal by a landslide.

Then Quintana won't be a Yankee for the second time. It's that easy
