Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Quintana 7-5, 3.3 era, 1.1 WHIP, 2.9 war... Can he get Tucker and Martes? Or less or more?
And Gray is 7-6, 3.13 era, 1.3 whip and 2.1 war... whats the packages look like in return for Gray from Colorado or Toronto
And finally, is an Archer to ChC for Schwarber, Cease and Martinez fair or should i add more
In my opinion these guys are extremely valuable because they all have years of control left. Archer is most valuable, followed by Quintana, then Gray.
How are Archer and the Rays performing in your franchise? Schwarber and the Cubs? Your trade is realistic but only fair if Schwarber is hitting. IRL he's pretty much a lottery pick right now.
Houston would need to add a third guy to get Quintana, probably another B prospect.
Gray... the A's are gonna want Vlad Jr from Toronto. Maybe Bichette as well. Would like to See what others have to say.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
I agree the Jays aren't getting a controllable Ace like Gray without parting with at least one of Vald Jr, Gourriel, or Bichette. Especially, since they could be competing with the Yankees for his services since they are in need of pitching too. I could be wrong but whatever the deal is for him it will need to Wow them.In my opinion these guys are extremely valuable because they all have years of control left. The A's have a few legit prospects at 3b but not much of anything in the OF. I think Gurriel, SRF and a high C or low B... would like to hear what others think.
I'm about to hit confirm on the following trade but would like a second opinion:
Gray to Houston for Martes, Fisher, looking for a third...

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Usually I'd agree but the A's and Astros have dealt before (Scott Kazmir) and there are rumours that it could happen again.
But for a Toronto deal do you think Vlad Jr and SRF is enough or does there need to be a 3rd?

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
They have traded before in the past as they sent Kazmir to the Astros. However, Kazmir was a rental and since Gray has a few years left of control the Astros would have to overpay for the A's to consider trading within the division.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Anyone have the link to that spreadsheet with sensible trades in it? Or failing that, know a realistic value on Chris Archer (having a great individual season in a sea of awfulness) if I was looking to go full rebuild and look for quantity of young talent over major league ready talent?Comment

The Chris Sale trade to the Red Sox is the floor for an Archer deal. So you start with the #1 prospect on whichever team he's going to and build from there. Its also possible young MLB regulars could be included.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
I am at the trade deadline in 2018 of my Dbacks franchise and looking to acquire a SP. The two obvious options are Quintana (83 overall, 29 years old) and Gray (86 overall, 28 years old). Both teams are out of contention and both are in the final year of the contract with no arbitration years left. What would it take for me to get either of them. Would Archie Bradley be enough? (25 years old, A potential, 75 overall, with 4 years of control left). What else should I add? Or am I way off?
I don't want to give up too much for a 3 month rental as I have to resign Goldschmidt in the offseason and am not sure if I will be able to keep either one of them.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Neither Sonny Gray nor Jose Quintana hit free agency after 2018. And the DBacks have a really poor system. You probably can't get either. Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Wow, that much? I knew he was valuable with that contract, but more than Sale? Struggle to think of a team that could really afford that tbh, other than the Yankees but they're in the division so that's unlikely. Cubs maybe? Houston at a stretchhttp://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-t...r-has-arrived/

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Thanks for the response. Yeah, in the roster I used when I started this franchise a while back the years were off on some of the players. Chris Sale hit free agency after the first season and was resigned by the Red Sox. And for some reason Gray and Quintana are free agents after 2018. I do have some pretty good prospects from what I drafted in 2017 but no A potentials so Bradley is the only A potential prospect I have (and at 25 it'd be hard to say he's really a "prospect"). Sounds like I just don't have what it takes. I might just ride out the season and see if my starters can turn it around (Robbie Ray in particular has really been struggling for me).
Thanks againComment
