Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Hey guys was wondering what it would take to bring Justin bour to the Yankees? Also out of curiosity has anyone gone like 2-3 years into franchise and seen legitimate growth with prospects turning into serviceable players? guys like Rosario, Torres, Jimenez? Or the lower rated guys like vlad jr or Blake Rutherford? Probably only gonna play 3 years so just trying to gauge if non elite prospects or even any are worth keeping. thanks.
The development, overall, seems kind of slow. It's obviously faster for high-potential players, but performance seems to have an inconsistent impact. Case in point: William Benson (OF, C potential) hit 20 homers in years one and two, but is still C potential and a 65 overall with his power growing by about 7 points total. Meanwhile, Kevin Maitan (SS, A potential) is still in low 60s and has had his potential dip some and his contact/power numbers both decrease after a down year in AA. It's as though potential dictates the impact performance has on growth. If a player is an A potential and does great, he'll blossom. The same player will have his potential shot if he's not good. While a player with C potential neither grows much or regresses much based on performance. It kind of hurts the game some.
However, the one thing I have noticed is that at the MLB level, potential doesn't matter and performance is everything. A player with C potential has a great year and he'll shoot up to B potential with solid rating growth and visa versa.
I hope this helps.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
No that did help thanks. I've actually done a few 5 year sims since my post and realized pretty much exactly what you've said to be the constant. I had a stacked white sox roster with all the guys they already have I.e kopech, giolito, Lopez and moncada and they all busted. Kopech giolito and Lopez all just never got it going, they would tear it up in triple A just to flounder in the bigs it seems like pitchers are like outfielders in how they just don't delevop quickly unless they have unbelivable years other pitchers in the same boat who DID have good years were just more of the same even while having A pot. My three guys and even some other pitchers who had good years are still only high 70's-82 overall half way through season five of my sim. Meanwhile Matt Davidson who's been a mid 70's overall and C pot has hit 30+ homeruns in all four seasons (pretty much Tod Frazier 2.0) had had his overall and attributes adjust accordingly to his production. Another note is that I believe in game drafted players progress much faster than created players or already in game prospects (SCEA) I drafted players in the draft and they were big league ready a year max two years later as aposed to guys like giolito who is still a fringe starter five years in I believe this is part because guys you draft normally come into the game higher rated than most OFSM prospects but it just seems drafted guys sky rocket. Idk I just don't really get it anyways I'm done with my rant but pretty much as I thought unless you're going to be simming 5 years or so prospects arnt really worth itComment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
First off- crazy Quintana trade.
Thinking about doing something similar in my Royals franchise for Danny Duffy. Thoughts? He is similar to Quintana, both are 28 year old lefties, both have plenty of team control (Duffy has more) and both are solid mid three ERA guys (Quintana a little bit better). What are your thoughts on doing that same trade but with Danny Duffy (maybe without Cease but I want Jimenez)

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Probably the best package they could get considering Q's not so great season so far. Jimenez is a 20 year old 60 FV guy with huge power and Cease is a flamethrower... pretty good get for the Sox, but not as much surplus as they would have got if Q was pitching like he was last year.
Edit: If those others are true Tucker has a better hit tool projection but lower FV and Paulino has a higher FV than Cease who has better stuff, Paulino has also struggled in AAA and MLB.
The Frazier + Adams trade looks interesting as Frazier is older and MLB ready but with less power than Jimenez and Adams is a bullpen to starter convert so you don't know what he's about.Last edited by disk; 07-13-2017, 12:49 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Doing a Yankees franchise, based on the prospect haul that the White Sox just got from the Cubs (Jimenez, Cease, Fleet, Rose) what kind of package would i have to put together to get someone like Archer, Gray, Verlander, or possibly one of the top guys from the Mets or the Giants? Obviously i know Thor or MadBum would be untouchable. Ideally i'd like to keep Gleybar out of it as he's gonna be my 3B but i wouldn't be totally against moving him.Comment
