Blackmon has a surplus of 50million which you could take back Gardner, Sheffield and Fowler
Holliday is on a 1 year deal and Gardner is very affordable. I also believe (but have not checked) this is the last year of ARod money. As long as they stay under the luxury tax for next year, surplus is not an issue here. There are only a handful of clubs I would say that about and NYY is one of them.

If Ellsbury isn't getting the job done, Joe G. will sit him on the bench I don't care what his contract looks like. Especially if they are making a push (why else would they trade for Blackmon?).

And making another team eat the Ellsbury deal just means the Yankees have to add another really good prospect to the trade

He already said Ellsbury was gone so I said he is fine but the luxury tax is priority one so if you are wanting realistic the yankees are not in win now mode and would not trade the future for a couple years but it depends what you want to base the trade off of surplus or what the yankees will do and have been rumored to do

I want to clear up the log jam in the OF by dealing one, or more, of the following: Bruce, Granderson, Largares and/or Cespedes (yes even him).

Given his age and history I may have to release Reyes, but wish to trade him off if possible.

Harvey is also available. I'd rather hold on to my prospects, but am willing to let go for the right deal.
As you probably know, NYM tried to get bullpen relief for Bruce/Granderson and couldn't get it done. Cespedes was for sale and he went back to the Mets. We can put those 3 to the side and maybe look to dump Bruce at the deadline for a kid.

Harvey is intriguing and while I think they would run you out of NY if you traded him, he does hold value. Give me someone you want (if you say Machado, I may cry). If you're 2-3 years away, C. Moran (HOU) is someone you could get cheap and "should" be a fine everyday MLB 3B. Not sexy but solid.

I didn't see the Ellsbury comment while I was typing my response. However, I would be curious as to what that deal looks like (I know its not you doing it...Ken?)

NYY just went 5/86 for the best closer in baseball. How are they not trying to win now?

they are two years out. so within 5 years. I would also like to see the Ellsbury trade. I did the Greinke deal we discussed quite awhile ago to dump ellsbury.

Machado for Reyes straight up? Cool thanks for the input! I kid, I kid.

Moran actually fits my plan, I mean it'll be no worse waiting for him than it would be waiting for Wright to come back a shadow of the shadow of what he used to be.

I've never been enamored with Harvey, I've never thought he was half as good as he thinks he is.

My deal i have in mind is

                  Yankees get:
                  Zack Greinke

                  Arizona gets:
                  Dillon Tate
                  Jorge Mateo
                  Jacoby Ellsbury
(Also eat some of Greinkes deal)

Dont see a spot for mateo in ny. I envision Sanchez, Bird, castro, dd, torres as their infield. Mateo lost some shine ive heard too.

NYY won 84 games last year (with a disgusting road record) and missed the WC by 5 games. Give them 3 more road wins and 2 more home wins over 162 games and they are a WC team. It does not take 2 years to get 5 wins. It may only take having that closer for a full year and a couple extra bombs from your DH (enter Holliday).

This coming from a lifelong O's fan...never count NYY out, ever.

Here is how the yankees think and why people hate them. They are either a WS contender or feel like they are rebuilding which is why they have been "rebuilding" for years yet they havnt committed to it which is why in the last year and a half they have actually committed to the rebuild but look at the future as well such as the Chapman deal and he will be a part of the next couple years of getting into WS contention. They are not a WS team now and there will be growing pain this year and next with the young Babybombers. They could make the playoffs but that is not there win now mode.

I know realism is an issue but I'd like to try to fix the Tigers constant bullpen issues.

Any closer deals you could recommend. Ideally would like to get Chapman just because I'm a fan.

Also would like to add some speed to the team. Dee Gordon would be amazing, but more realistically Billy Hamilton would be good too since I need a CF.

I'm playing as the Red Sox and need bullpen help approaching the deadline. I'm looking at either Tony Watson from Pittsburgh or Cam Bedrosian from Los Angeles.

Would either of these teams be interested in a package based around Christian Vasquez or Blake Swihart? The farm is obviously a bit more barren after Dave got to it but would one of the catchers and another B prospect work for one of those pitchers?

ARZ loses in this deal so if he is tanking, maybe? Of course, we are talking about the Diamondbacks and they've made worse deals in the past. With that contract, if they move him, I don't think there is a way they can win a deal. I think any deal would look better in context with current season numbers and an idea of what the franchise is looking like at the deadline. Just my 2 cents though... real hard to quantify with that much money sloshing around.

Poor Tigers. They tried so hard to buy a closer last year and just couldn't get it done. If the Pirates are out of it at the deadline, T. Watson should be moved. Is he lock down? Probably not but he's an upgrade for you and should be affordable (though probably a touch expensive in a sellers market) for your farm providing he's not pitching out of his mind.

Chapman just got paid on a 5 year deal. If it was a 2 year deal I would say he was movable. 1st year of a 5 year deal...nah.
