No and I get that but obviously other teams feel the same way and I think the value will have to drop to something around that to pull off that kind of trade or maybe someone with a little more value than mateo. But from what I hear they are wanting a top 15 to top 20 prospect and no one is willing to even consider that unless someone gets desperate at the deadline. Im not arguing with you but it seems every big league team feels the same way a bit.

Quintana has been a 5 WAR pitcher on average the last 3 years. Over those 3 years he's been more valuable than Johnny Cueto, Madison Bumgarner and Zach Greinke. He's just about as good as Sale and has a better contract. A team would have to give up a top 25 type player for sure and odds are it would be a top 20 guy. But either way, you don't have to trade for him and we should see here in a couple months what he's actually worthComment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
An actual #3 not a team with a good team's #3 so no not Danny Salazar he has huge upside. Best case, Sonny Gray. Or Ervin Santana, Robbie Ray, Anthony DeSclafani, or Michael Wacha. That kind of pitcherComment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Hi friends!
I chose to pick the lesser Chicago team, wondering how you valued Quintana and Abreu. They seem to me to be too valuable for to potentially waste away on a rebuilding team. Any recs?

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Top 10 prospect in baseball
Top 50 prospect in baseball
Nice potential prospect
Could snag three B's or an A, B, high C.
Abreu has been a solid bat to open his career. He likely has ~24 million in value, kind of hard since he opted into arb, and is a ~2 WAR player.
I'd say a B would get it done, maybe a C as well. Main destination would be to a fellow AL team so he could DH.

I ask, but I'm a little biased, hoping to snag Happ from the northsiders. With Lackey getting old, Arrieta likely to walk, and a fringe starter in Brett, is it something I can convince myself of other than bias to be a plausible deal, or nah?

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
no I did not say that. if you read everything i wrote other than only one post I said no one is willing to give up a top 15 to a top 20 prospect plus more like the white sox are wanting. I also said Mateo which is #45 prospect with higher upside than that since the down year last year hurt his stock.Last edited by babybombers; 04-13-2017, 06:38 PM.Comment

He's #85 on the Baseball America list and #91 on Fangraphs list

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Except Houston were willing to give up what you say no one was willing to give up. Martes is a top 20 prospect, they offered him plus a couple of guys of a similar if not higher level than Mateo. That's the point, Mateo is an add on, not the main piece of a Quintana tradeComment
