    Re: Too many HR's?

Does anyone have an idea or remember when a game play tuning set typically gets released. Not sure if this will be addressed in an update anyway but just interested to know

I will say that I have increased difficulty to legend and with the smaller PCI and better CPU pitching it has improved my experience. I just find it hard to believe I've gone from an all star difficulty hitter to legend.

Last year the first patch released on April 16th.

That in no way indicates that a patch will be released around the same time for MLB '17.

I agree with everyone's sentiment though, while I think there are multiple factors at play here, the CPU leaving the ball over the heart of the plate seems to be the major one.

I've given up playing online because more than half the hits I give up are homeruns. Even if I throw a perfect pitch out of the zone or in a hitters cold zone, AND my opponent doesn't have the batters eye anywhere near the pitch, I am getting homered on. Literally makes no sense.

Well if it happens again, I'll screenshot it. I'm not using hyperbole and I'm not lying about it. I've modified my sliders since, though.

I believe you. I've hit some almost like that, below the strike zone and opposite field.

Of course I have no idea if that happens in the majors or not.

                Too many HR's?

This games completely broken online. I just had a 5-4 game you think would be enjoyable but it's just garbage. Pitching against directional or whatever is all luck. Fastball a foot outside . Opposite field blast. Fastball way high , 460 foot bomb. Fastball down the middle, called ball four.

I'm zone plus analog but I highly doubt anyone else I've played is the way this game is. I'm fed up until the patch . Just sad really.

It's just so obvious too. You'll play someone and their players batting averages are all over .300 and .400. Meanwhile my guys are mid to high in the .200s. It was the same thing last year too. Sigh ...

I know I've told my experience as to not seeing the too many homeruns issue, but wanted to share of snapshot of my last game. Yes this is Spring Training and it was at Sportsman Park.

But we combined for 9 hits, all singles except for the Grichuk homerun.

This is default HOF with Zone Hitting and Meter pitching. It's also a carryover franchise.

I'm also in Spring training HOF timing hitting and meter pitching.

The next game of Spring Training vs the Mets in Shea Stadium. Again HOF default, Meter pitching and Zone hitting.

In this game there were extra base hits but none were homeruns. Out of the 17 hits there were 4 doubles. The rest were singles.

Countryboy, I'm curious about your franchise file. Did you start in ST or have you advanced to a new season since you loaded your carryover?

The reason I ask.. I took my franchise file from 16 to 17 and was in the middle of a season. I didn't have any issues with HRs being too prevalent or the massive, tape-measure shots that others were seeing.

I recently finished that season and I'm not in ST of the next season. All of a sudden, the HRs are flying like I haven't seen before in my previous 20ish games of last season. In all of those games, I never hit a HR farther than 430 feet and probably averaged 3-4 per game combined. Now, I hit 3 in the first inning of my first ST game, and all 3 went over 450 with one of them over 500 feet. I ended up with 7 combined HRs in the game. My second game now has a similar feel. I've adjusted some sliders, so I haven't seen a 450+ foot HR, but I have seen a combined 6 HRs in this game and all but one between 410 and 440 feet.

I think there's something about advancing to a new season that changes the settings or gameplay or something.

So on default sliders Legend difficulty, your experience is more or less the same as on MLB 16 All-Star difficulty?

As you may already read, there is something broken with the homerun ball physics. Too many moonshots with distances of 450ft - 500ft+. When you play on Legend are getting a lot of those types of homeruns?

                              Re: Too many HR's?

I will say it's more difficult then all star last year for sure. It's probably what hall of fame should be with slightly more pop but Ive gotten the immersion back as I'm not pounding the ball out every inning.

You don't get the cheap homers. Pitchers actually pitch to the corners and less meatballs. It's worth a try. And PCI is in line with what you'd expect on HOF. My overall hit totals seem fine thus far as well.

And yes more variety of homeruns as you are much less likely to completely square up a ball and crush it. My last game with the D-Backs I won 3 to 1 with one opposite field homer by Tomas.

I played two games with the red soxs and hit two homers in one game and none in the other. Played with the jays and hit just one.

Small sample size but I don't have the feeling like on hall of fame where I know a 4 homerun inning is coming each game. And if I do I think they would be few and far between.
