Hmm...I thought that maybe lowering the contact slider would help. And I can see where it would impact other aspects of the game. and I agree about slideritis, which is why I never mess with them.

And in no way am I trying to make you defend your opinion or experience. I hope that is not how my post came across. What I am sharing is my experience and saying that there are those of us who haven't experienced this issue. Or at least some have found a way to remedy the issue via slider adjustments.

Like I stated, my concern is that if this gets patched that it could effect other aspects of the game and effect those of us who aren't experiencing the issue. I'm not saying there isn't a full blown issue nor am I saying that there is, just conveying the idea that there is a balance that has to be maintained and for myself, I don't want to see that balance disrupted.

Just out of curiosity, what skill level do you play on? What levels have you tried?

I've definitely seen an uptick in home runs. I'm hitting more and giving up more than I have in the past. As far as giving them up I don't feel cheated as they are pitches I've made mistakes on and left over the heart of the plate. Also the majority of the home runs I've hit are on what I'd call mistake pitches. I believe the CPU may hang a few too many pitches but I've somewhat mitigated that by upping pitch consistency and pitch accuracy by one.

That said I've yet to see any bombs approaching 500 feet. I wonder if me using analog swing has anything to do with it. After having played 4 games with 4 or 5 combined home runs, I did play 2 games last night with zero combined home runs.

I've noticed a few more mistake pitches this year by the cpu (for myself it seems the same) but I haven't seen an increase in homeruns because of it. I've seen hard hit balls and some hits that I've never seen before, but not an increase in homeruns.

But I just played a game where I hit 3 homeruns but that is after playing two straight where I didn't hit any.

Also keep in mind that they reduced pitching stats across the board from last year, which does not impact my ability to put a power swing pci on the ball.

No worries, you've always been a level headed poster who adds value to every discussion. Appreciate your feedback.

Started on AS default. Moved on to AS with A&S sliders. Tweaked those. Moved back to A&S sliders on HOF. That's where I am currently with some slight adjustments. I'm going to collaborate with the slider gurus and number crunchers and see what we can come up with to match the individual style of play we all desire.

            Re: Too many HR's?

I'm new to the forum, typically a lurker for information but had to create an account to share what I've found with the game thus far regarding homers.

I've always been an all star difficulty zone hitter playing franchise only and always found hitting to be realistically difficult. However, for MLB 17 I decided to play on a gaming monitor and improve my ability to see the ball and hit. To keep the level of difficulty I enjoy I decided to start the year off on HOF difficulty.

I started a franchise with the Rockies, played the first month and ended the month with 15 more home runs then the second ranked team. It seemed like every 3rd hit was a homer. I decided to quit because I hate unrealistic stats and began lurking here to see if anyone was noticing the same. Based on what I read I decided to see if there was anything I could change without messing with sliders because I've always been someone who believes in using default sliders to keep game integrity.

First I decided to try legend difficulty for hitting. While hitting was somewhat more difficult, the homers were as frequent as HOF. I then tried using quick counts in a Blue Jays franchise, and at first it seemed to be better, not letting me sit for a pitch, but I quickly adjusted and starting sending 3 to 4 homers out per game. Someone mentioned earlier the homeruns are an immersion killer, and I fully agree.

With no success, I decided to try TNK's sliders. In the slider set he has adjusted power to 3, solid hits and timing to 4. I also took an extra step and adjusted down contact. Then I tried a franchise with the red sox, and once again the homeruns were flying at the same pace.

I believe the issue is a combination of the new ball physics and pitchers now leaving balls over the plate way to often. I am now considering directional hitting because I hear that will produce more realistic stats, even though I really don't enjoy it. There is definitely something off with this years hitting.

When I get home, I will post my sliders on this thread with all the info on my settings......maybe it will help some of you or maybe I am just getting old and my skills are diminishing.

Default sliders on hall of fame. I crushed 5 homeruns as the Nationals and the CPU crushed 6 as the Marlins in one game. Final score was 12-9. I know games like this happen, but it seems like every homerun the CPU hits is a moonshot where more of mine are line drive homers. It also seems like homeruns come in bunches. I'm just gonna lower power sliders and wind and see what happens.

What hitting interface are you using?

Using zone with wedge, in general, I'm finding the trajectory of the ball off the bat is fairly accurate to the physical world with respect to the relation of the wedge center point and where the ball made contact. That is, when the center point is centered on the ball I hit line drives, when it is above I hit ground balls, and when it is under I hit fly balls. It isn't completely accurate, but it is far more accurate than it has been in any previous version of the game. For this, I am very much pleased.

Thus, if you are using zone and want more height (moonshots), my suggestion is to aim just a little bit lower on the ball.

This is what is baffling to me. I play default HOF and I've seen nothing remotely close to this type of game. I use Zone hitting.

Please don't think I'm discrediting your experience just stumped why people are seeing these types of games but I am not.

Curious as to what I'm doing or not doing that is resulting in me not seeing the HR issue.

Last game on HOF ( pitching/hitting ), two grand slams in the same inning. At this point, i don't know what to say. But it's a sad day, at least for me. The amount of grand slams i'v seen so far is so high that i highly suspect there's some sort of scripting. Love the graphic, the new animations, the face scans are amazing, but this is not baseball. Enjoy the slider-game, it's Fifa all over again.

Mets and Baltimore pulled it off as a team..Fernando Tatis hit 2 slams in one inning off the same pitcher..so it is possible, but not likely..I get what you are saying!

                              Re: Too many HR's?

My current position is that the problem of giving up too many HRs is almost completely under user control and comes down to better strategy and input mastery.

As far as hitting too many HRs, I've come to agree with previous posts which stated it is a result of the CPU leaving too many pitches up in the zone and over the middle of the plate.

I only recall hitting three home runs which I would classify as cheap this year. Cheap being timing and/or PCI location was off. Albeit a too common occurrence, the majority have been well struck pitches that I believe should have left the yard. In 2015 and 2016, I experienced far too many cheap home runs and hits. Additionally, I felt too many well timed and squared up pitches were landing on the warning track or line drive outs directly to a fielder.

I want realistic stats and attributes to play a role, but I also want my successes to be my successes and my failures to be my failures. As such, I like the direction of this game, which overall seems to be rewarding my successes and failures. Thus I see two solutions 1) A patch addressing CPU pitching 2) Increasing user difficulty without erroneously producing failure and success

Thus I'm curious if anyone has yet looked into how reducing the timing window and increasing pitch speed affected the user HR totals?

Alright fellas, first I am confused on so many different results with basically the same setups but here is what I use.
                                Hitting HOF-directional-buttons-PCI off-Camera shift-off
                                Pitching HOF-meter-pitch confidence on

                                Human

                                Reliever stam-5, Pitcher control-6, Pitcher consistency-5

                                CPU
                                Contact-4, Power-5, Timing-5, Foul freq-5, Solid hits-5, Starter stam-6
                                Reliever stam-5, Pitcher control-4, Pitcher consistency-5, Strike freq-5
                                Manager hook-6, pickoffs-5, pitch speed-5, off speed-5, fielding errors both-6
Throwing errors-5, Fielder run speed-4, Fielder reaction-4, Fielder arm-5 both
                                Base runner speed-5, steal abil-5, steal freq-6, Wind-5, Injury-7, Trade-7

As with any sliders I put out, you will get the full guarantee........if it breaks in half, you will get to keep both halves.
Also, I forgot to mention that I only use the "normal or contact" buttons.
                                Good Luck
