Curious as to what I'm doing or not doing that is resulting in me not seeing the HR issue.

Initially, I too experienced giving up too many home runs, which I identified as my own fault and have mostly corrected.

I'm leaving the yard far too often in DD and Play Now games. But given the hitters, pitch placement, PCI placement, and timing I see the results as warranted. Franchise has been a mixed bag. I've had games where I've put on a hitting show, but I've also been shut down by good pitching. Carlos Martinez and Zach Davies both gave me fits. Davies kept me off balance with a heavy dose of puss and Martinez owned the corners. Additionally I've had a couple conquest games where CPU pitching got the best of me. But it hasn't been consistent, even when facing the same pitcher for the second/fifth time.

That second home run looked physically impossible.

        Re: Too many HR's?

        Hey everyone,

        TRY This slider set!!!
I have been averaging 0.9 Homers per game over the course of 33 games in my season with the Yankees. When i first started playing the game (In Play Now Exhibition) i was playing on All Star Hitting and All Star pitching and i was hitting 5 homers a game with default sliders.

        Here they are:
        Hitting Difficulty : Veteran
Must be on Veteran so that you can score some runs by just hitting.
Pitching Difficulty : Hall of Fame
        Directional hitting

*Any sliders not mentioned are default.

        User Power -4
        Cpu Power -4
User Solid hits : Maxed out
Cpu Pitcher Strike frequency -3 (Needs to be -3 because computer throws too many strikes on Veteran difficulty) I'm averaging 2 to 3 walks a game with it set on -3 on Veteran. This slider set at -3 will not work on higher hitting difficulties. You will see too many balls on higher hitting difficulties.
        Outfield Arm Strength -5
        Infield Arm Strength -5
Outfield/infield Arm Strength at -5 will allow the cpu and user to see runs scored off of hits. And the game will still play realistically.

Try these out and post your box scores!!!

You're confusing issues here and let's not turn this into a scripting conversation on top of a too many HR issue.

A grand slam is nothing but a homerun with the bases loaded. Two homeruns in an inning is far from unheard of.

Let's not mix that conversation in with this one please as I'm sure that thread will pop up at some point.

I just played a 15-inning, 1-0 game on All-Star. I'm only four games into my season but I've only hit two HRs and given up three.

Are you guys using the power swing? I only use the normal swing. Is it possible the power swing is over powered?

Ignoring a couple contact swings with pitchers, I exclusively use zone hitting with normal swing. Thus, I don't see that this has anything to do with power swing. It's bad human and CPU pitching. Human pitchers deserve to get raked. The CPU pitching needs to be patched.

I guess it's possible......I used it one time on a 3-0 count and I hit the Marlin on top of that Ferris wheel thing in centerfield. I have since not used it.......so you could be on to something there. Let's see what kind of feedback everyone gives.

Haven't used the power swing one time in 60+ games. One observation that I've noticed is the home runs come in spurts. As if certain conditions be it wind, settings, etc have to exist. This could be why some experience the phenomenon and others are left wondering what we are all referring to.

As others have aptly described, it's a feast or famine situation, and usually happens because the CPU throws a meatball that we as users hammer. I too though have had stretches of games where it's a non-issue. Confused, but I'm certain there is an ingredient we haven't definitively figured out yet.

It doesn't account for all circumstances, but I've noticed in conquest the CPU doesn't replace tired or in trouble pitchers. I've indulged in multiple 2-4 run comebacks in the last inning due to poor CPU pitcher management.

Is it possible that zone hitting is the culprit, or at least to some extent? I use directional, and it's kinda crappy. So many pitches (catching a fair amount of the plate and sometimes right down the pipe) just end up being foul tips or popups. Especially high in the zone. I'm to the point now where if it's high I just eat the K because if I pop up another meatball I truly think I'm gonna break a controller. All that said - I switch to zone, same sliders, do not ever move the PCI and my batting average jumps way up. I see hits of all types, hits I have never seen on directional. I hit a 503 foot homerun with Donaldson today using zone. I think that was a bit far and unrealistic, but after 3 days of 4 hit games, foul tips and popups I kinda enjoyed it.

Nope. As previously stated, my successes should be my successes and my failures should be my failures. This years game is the the most accurate in reflecting my successes and failures. The problem is that I'm succeeding too often and to easily because the CPU is continually leaving pitches up and over the middle. Human pitchers deserve to get hammered for mistakes, as they can and should make adjustments. CPU pitching needs to be patched to make less mistakes.

                          Re: Too many HR's?

For everyone asking, I use directional/normal swing only. As for pitching, honestly yeah some of the pitches being hit by the CPU for homers are my fault. But I've seen more than a few that are just ridiculous. I'm talking a foot outside the zone being whacked 440 feet over the opposite field wall. Yes, I know this happens in real life from time to time with guys who have exceptional strength. Such as Giancarlo Stanton. But my most recent example of this? Kevin Kiermaier. Against a lefty. I've seen at least four homers like that in the past 20 or so games and its kind of annoying.

I do think the CPU is laying too many meatballs down the middle. Not sure what to do about it slider wise.

I'm not confusing issues. It's an evidence: i've already saw 6-7 grand slams. It's the same number of grand slams i've experienced in MLB 16 in more than 300 hours of playtime. But fair enough, you're right, let's not mix too many things here. For the same reason, we shouldn't go too far with sliders. There's a dedicated section of the forum and for a good reason. As a matter of fact, while everyone is testing power -100 and stuff like that, i'm trying to keep things as simple as possible and i'm providing feedback even with videos and screenshots. What about you ?
So my question is: what is the average playtime of a DD game ? 3 innings. Now, you change the whole balance of the game cause you have only 3 innings to show baseball stuff. That's why you see so many HR's, that's why many games turn into a hitting festival and that's why hitting is easier than ever. It makes sense ? Yes. Even if a baseball team hit 10 HR's in one inning in 1943.

This thread is about too many HR's. Not too many runs. I still don't understand why you think seeing a grand slam carries more weight than a solo HR as it pertains to this discussion.

And totally lost on your DD thoughts here, I'm quite certain a majority of conversation here is how it pertains to franchise.

I've been playing this game pretty much non stop since release, all modes.

Probably have about 60 games in.

                                Haven't seen one grand slam.
