Re: CPU SP problem (anyone else has it!?)
I guess if a player is strike out like crazy day and is already 0-2 in the count a manager could pull them for a pinch hitter, I am not even sure if that is a rule and you can do that, but you can in mlb the show. with QC it actually resets to the pinch hitter to another account if you do this if memory serves me correctly.
Anyway the point is the AI logic about lefty on lefty has gone to far this year, because soon as they pull a lefty on a lefty I can just pinch hit making their choice for pulling a starter who is on fire even more boneheadedComment

Re: CPU SP problem (anyone else has it!?)
I have done it before, because in the game I got locked into the first pitch, before I had a chance to go to the menu and pinch hit, so I have had to pinch hit guys with a 0-1 or 1-0 count.

Once the official pitching change is made the pitcher must stay in to face one batter but after that official change is done the offense can pinch hit to their hearts delight. They could pinch hit after every pitch if they wanted to.
It really seems like you are confusing the two rules as this is pretty much baseball 101.Comment

Re: CPU SP problem (anyone else has it!?)
My problem isn't the starting pitchers. They have been good for the most part. My issue is occasionally, not often, but it has happened. The manager will leave the reliever in there when he is being rocketed on (one game for one inning for 9 runs. Small ball, not even hr's) no confidence and still leaves him out there. It's a rare occurance, and has only happened a few times, but it does mess up the immersion into the game.

Just happened to me tonight CPU left long reliever in tonight and he was getting rocked. CPU comes back in the top of the 7th takes the lead, I bat in bottom of 7th long reliever still in 60 pitches deep. The game had 6 HR's, every ball was a laser. Between CPU and this new ball physics I'm really starting to dislike this game. It feels very arcade like. Sucks because it's basically the only game I play and I just dropped $1700 on PS pro and 4K TV. Interesting thing is when I used zone hitting I couldn't hit at all, I switched to directional and everything is a laser shot. I hope devs take a deep look into this game, it's turning into a disaster for me, just not fun at all

Re: CPU SP problem (anyone else has it!?)
I wish I was getting your results then I don't use Quick counts, unless the score is 8-0 the CPU will always pull a pitcher in the 5th innings, and I never see them get past the 6th EVER. unless it is a blowout.
the issue is the AI is not going by the stamina or pitch counts, it goes by 2 things, the score in the game, and the righty and lefty matchup new logic they have in the game.
Which btw that is another issue the righy left matchup thing is crap, because I can pinch hit after the CPU puts in a lefty against a left, I can pinch hit for a righty, the rules state I should not be able to do this, SCEA have to look into that pinch hitting ruleComment

Re: CPU SP problem (anyone else has it!?)
Happens in both AL and NL. It really ruins games because you won't see much 1-0 games or real low scoring games the way the AI uses it's logic, only way is to use the controller select move across each at bat to stop the CPU from being a bonehead. it works for me and I rather spend that extra few mins doing that then getting a ruined gameComment

Re: CPU SP problem (anyone else has it!?)
Just to confirm, quick counts are the issue here? Its best not to use them, even with slider changes?Comment

Re: CPU SP problem (anyone else has it!?)
Quick counts seem to be the issue when I had them on pitchers were being pulled in 4th and 5th turned them off scored 3 runs in the 4th the very next game pitcher didn't come out till 1 out in the 6th after back to back walks and rizzo coming upComment

I agree, I had been using quick counts because I love it. I turned it off and the SP issue seemed to go away.JUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDEComment

Re: CPU SP problem (anyone else has it!?)
Can the baseball stat nuts weigh in on how those IP numbers look? I'm not knowledgeable enough to judge.
I prefer QC games and if I can get a decent sample size that shows things average out to 5-ish innings per start with enough quality starts from good pitchers to produce 200-inning seasons, then I'll ride with it.Comment

Re: CPU SP problem (anyone else has it!?)
Unless I did my math wrong, this comes out to 5.57 IP per start, almost 5 2/3 innings. 4 of your 11 opposing pitchers would have met the minimum innings requirement for a quality start.

I have now played in 20 games total, 9 in one franchise and 11 in another and I can say this is more of a non issue than I thought. I work the count, a lot, and play on AS. I have lowered manager hook to 2, increased SP stamina to 7 and lowered RP stamina to 3. I have seen Verlander go 8.1 innings, giving up 2 ER and throwing 110 pitches, I've seen pitchers give up 4 runs in the first and still go past 5 innings, I have seen pitchers pulled after 3 and allowing 5 runs, it seems relatively inconsistent, but then so is baseball. My main concern is the relief appearance length. I faced a RP who gave up 6 ER in 3 innings and came out for the 9th to finish the game. Maybe he had good stamina and their pen was tired, but idk it just seemed weird.Comment

Re: CPU SP problem (anyone else has it!?)
I think that, when discussing a potential bug, it's important to be specific about the situation in which you are encountering this bug.
In this case, the big questions are: are you playing with Quick Counts or regular counts? Is this a franchise game, or RTTS, play now, etc?

I'm struggling to find the toggle for quick vs regular counts. Where do I find that ? Any help would be terrific
