As for 17, it’s not possible to utilize him right?

In 18, they’re certainly going to make him a 2 way player. But as for us playing 17 and wanting to add him, nothing we can do right?

Can’t you pinch hit a pitcher in a game? I know it doesn’t help for simmed games but it’s something. So if you play games as the Angels, you could pinch hit him for the DH and just keep him in. Or am I wrong?

I feel like they're going to have to do something here. The Angels are likely going to be one of the mostly used teams this year. Im sure lots of people will be upset if you can't hit and pitch with him.

It's not just Ohtani though. There are a ton of players that are considered 2 way. Brett Eibner and Ike Davis are 2 way players now. Brendan McKay of the Rays (2017 draftee) is a 2 way player in the minors. Christian Bethancourt who is now a free agent is considered a 2 way player, but he may fully convert to pitching from what I've read. Either way Ramone did say they wouldn't make 2 way players last year, because at the time it was only 1 guy (Bethancourt) and now there are a handful of guys that are 2 way players and there are more I probably haven't mentioned. Definitely needs to be an option in 18. It would be a huge disappointment if this option isn't there and quite frankly unrealistic in my opinion.

EDIT: They also need to bring in the option for a switch handed pitcher like Pat Venditte in the editor. Yes, he was in 17, but won't be in 18 and once you transfer him over he loses his handedness I believe. So, unless he makes the Dodgers roster out of spring training or any other team in 18 we are stuck with either right or left handed.

I agree that it should be possible but I'm not entirely positive it's as easy to do as some of us are saying. If I'm not mistaken they have coding in place currently to prevent us from manipulating this on our own and that's not always easy to remove.

I agree. Fingers crossed man. Would be a huge let down if it's not implemented. They actually had this feature in a few years ago when Jason Lane came back up as a pitcher and when Micah Owings moved from the mound to the OF and 1B. Both had OF and 1B as secondary positions. Lane was P and secondary was LF/RF. Owings was LF and P as a secondary.

I used a Jason Lane's CAP from 14 and moved it all the way to 16. The secondary positions got locked so hopefully they can just unlock that if it's not complicated obviously.

exactly Bingo, that is exactly why they can't do the unique thing people are talking about. maybe they have to create 2 of him to put on the roster. but somehow not take up 25 man roster

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I understand Ohtani won't be in the game. I'm wondering if the alpha will let us know if we can DH a pitcher, like Bumgarner did two years ago and Ohtani will be doing this year.
