Re: Directional Hitting Guide
Do you scoop swing every time you have a men on base with a power guy up? Or do you go by game situation. I think Ive been doing it too much and have some hitters in a tail spin as a resultComment

Re: Directional Hitting Guide
I can flat-out tell you that there are some power hitters I will NEVER scoop swing with. There are other power guys I will just try to pull the ball. There are still other power guys where I rarely (if ever) influence their swing.
Before I really started getting the nuances of directional hitting, I used to scoop swing a lot with power guys. Sure, it generated some bombs, but if your timing is off at all....you get some really ugly results. It's really like how some players (real life) will go into a funk because they are pressing too much to make things happen.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

I'm wondering if drive swing with all of my low vision hitters isn't the way to goComment

Re: Directional Hitting Guide
Just wanted to bump this, especially as even with the new hitting gameplay, this guide is still applicable.

Re: Directional Hitting Guide
Don't get me wrong, based on my play so far I still believe that the vision attribute is the most important attribute when attempting anything other than the no influence swing, but that statement has never been less true than in 19.
I still need much more playtesting, but as of right now I consider it highly likely that I'll be making either revisions or additions due to 19.
PS the down influence is still kind of OP. In fact, it might be even more powerful. I've been using (abusing) it a lot.

Left stick influence is still as the OP outlines, correct?
Tremendous guide btw, I try to reread it once a year to refresh my approachTwitch: Goblue81188Comment

Re: Directional Hitting Guide
The biggest change to look out for is the new importance of contact. Not only does it have more impact this year, but it also controls a new factor: bat exit velocity floors. Power still impacts the bat exit velocity ceilings.
This means that by using a pull swing, you are opening up both the bat exit velocity ceiling and floor, making it even more of a double edged sword.
In summary: contact has been buffed, effecting both solid contact more and bat exit velocities.
In terms of directional, this means the pull swing has been nerfed, and the up swing has been buffed. So far my playtesting has confirmed this. I'm actually about to integrate the up swing into one of my players usual approaches, so I'll have better confirmation at a later date.
Pull swing is still good for pull hitters, but it is no longer the be all end all swing for getting power.

Re: Directional Hitting Guide
This guide is outstanding. I've usually have used Zone, but I'm strongly considering going to directional. Thanks for all the hard work putting this together.Comment

Re: Directional Hitting Guide
I agree. I’ve always used zone in the past, but have been trying directional this year in M2O and have been seeing promising results. (Batting has always been my weakness in this game.)Gamertag and PSN ID: PattinoComment
