I'm sure there will be a grab bag of things they updated, but I think the defining factor about how well this game is received will be: (1) how much love did franchise mode get? and (2) how robust is online play? If the answers to those questions are: (1) a lot and (2) yes, then it should be a hit. If the game looks a little prettier also, that would only help matters.

The xx more animations and xx more brands stuff is nice as ancillary features, but a bit hollow if sold as the headlining features.

Just to be clear, I wasn't suggesting that anything that I listed was being touted as a headlining feature. I was simply listing what little information there was about what was new/changed/fixed for '18.

As for anything else, we will have to wait and see. I'm confident in saying there is a lot more information to come, both new and expanding on what little info we have now.

It definitely says "18" on yankee stadium in the first few frames of the gif. If there's no major graphical jump, I can't say id be disappointed. I Thought apart from created players "17" looked pretty good. I'd still love a major graphical upgrade. Also they may not have the graphical upgrades for this year in that gif. Just like the first trailer for "17"

I assume you haven’t been playing 17 since it was officially announced that Aaron Judge was on the cover. In between innings there a promo video with him on the screens at all the stadiums.

I'm thinking it may be a commercial spot that is shown on MLB Network and early in the season of baseball games.

People are taking this "no news/info" stuff way too serious. This should be a happy time for baseball fans/gamers. Spring Training is right around the corner, news on the Show '18 is coming shortly, and the Show '18 is a few short weeks away. Sorry that news hasn't dropped yet, but is it wrong to have fun while we wait?

Not really. I mean, even RBI Baseball has released info about their game and so has OOTP. There are many reasons this year why I think it's important to get info on the game. It almost feels as is they are using "The Show" , Aaron Judge, and the fact that they are really the only true sim option on the market to sell their game instead of the content. Most of us are more concerned with the content of the game before we buy. And the fact that they have been pushing pre-orders without giving us info is really rubbing me the wrong way.

There is a trailer coming Monday. And I'm 99.99999999% sure there will be dev streams and blogs that follow shortly thereafter.

The game is still coming on March 23rd/27th, which is plenty of time to get information out on the improvements/changes/additions/fixes for '18. So what if they aren't the first out of the gate? Last year the first stream talking about content, it was on gameplay, didn't release until Feb 7th. We are pretty close to the same time frame this year.

They are a business, of course they are going to "push" pre-orders. In business, the idea, although its not a 100% guarantee, is that pre-orders equal guaranteed sales.

Yet almost all OS'ers are franchise players and thats usually there 3rd to last stream or so? Maybe 20 days before the game comes out? How is that good business? I know sports games are a different beast then other AAA games, but what other games come out with HUGE feature info 2 weeks before release?

I dont see why they cant release the spreadsheet of the entire feature set like they did in the old days. Let us soak in that info and see it all in use on the streams.
