    Re: 18 news?

Yea. Each year it seems info is being pushed out later and later every year. I also remember these boards being a lot more active then before.

I’m normally on the hype train about November but this year has been a little different. I hope the no news yet is a sign of something.

I would venture that we will see launch angles applied as an approach to hitting. Statcast will define the launch angle using 'Blast Motion'.

Blast Motion is building on its popular bat-sensor by utilizing smartphone cameras to calculate results data such as exit velocity, launch angle and projected distance through its new product, Blast Vision. Harnessing patented computer vision techniques to produce nearly 3D images from a single camera — https://www.sporttechie.com/sports/mlb/

I'm hoping something is done about the crazy number of opposite field hits, and especially opposite field homeruns.

Even more specifically is the guys who hit the ball to the opposite field in a shift every single time. I can’t tell you how many triples I hit with big, lumbering guys who slap one away from the shift after any contact. It seems to have been a thing for a couple years now. That never happens in real life.

It doesn't happen in real life because pitchers know the shift is in place and pitch to it.

The problem in the show is that the pitchers are throwing pitches that are easy to hit the opposite way despite the shift being in place.

The need is to address situational pitching, not players hitting it the opposite way against a shift.

That’s definitely part of it, but I’ve seen a ton of oppo hits come from pitches down and in with guys like Trumbo, Stanton, Batista, etc. I think some light scripting may be involved too.

I mean. It does happen in real life. I’ve seen it. But it’s rare, and it happens too often in The Show.

Also, I agree with this. I never once thought there was any sort of scripting in The Show prior to this year. This year had a lot of moments that made me feel like it was an EA Sports game, which of course have pretty liberal usage of scripting. Just fishy things that happened regularly. Things that felt almost predictable after awhile.

Man are you guys going to be upset, when the first news is nothing more than a stream schedule about features which will be redacted by an asterisk. I use to love the days of that mid January Features list.

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Oh man, I used to love it when they released all of the info about the changes in the upcoming game in one giant list, only then to do a deeper dive article on the major changes to each game mode later. Now, its no info, then game streams that you have to watch for 90 minutes to try and glance information that could have been summed up in 45 seconds of your time reading. I absolutely hate the direction the PR team for MLB The Show has taken with their pre-release hype. Its actually had the opposite affect on me. I used to eagerly await their weekly blog post about some feature about the game. I don't even watch the streams, its too much work for too little info. It's killed the hype for me.
