Which is unfortunate because they did say this was the year they were touching up uniforms. I'm hoping that whenever we get the cloth physics jerseys people have been asking for since time immemorial we'll get the nameless jerseys fixed.

Yeah, I actually mentioned that in another thread about cloth physics (like 2K basketball) and the like, but possibly PS5 due to memory bandwidth, etc., since they are doing so much more with crowds, stadium details, etc., than basketball or hockey that can put more resources into the players themselves.

Of course this is all speculation on my part as far as technical limitations/time/etc..

Yeah, I actually mentioned that in another thread about cloth physics (like 2K basketball) and the like, but possibly PS5 due to memory bandwidth, etc., since they are doing so much more with crowds, stadium details, etc., than basketball or hockey that can put more resources into the players themselves.

The only thing they said about focusing on uniforms this year was adding PBR to them. Too many of you are assuming that meant they were gonna fix everything else wrong with the uniforms.

I don't think anyone is assuming anything, I just think people are a little disappointed since thay said that uniforms were the big focus this year graphically, yet they didn't do anything to fix many of issues we've had with them for years. They fixed the slot issue, and they appear to be working on the color issues, which is great, but I think most people were hoping more could have gotten fixed if that was their big focus for the year.

Because they didn't say they would fix all the issues, they only said they were improving the PBR.

What I'm saying is, multiple people have said something like "I'm surprised they haven't fixed ______ when they said uniforms were a focus this year" when the only thing they said they would focus on for uniforms was the PBR.

This is like if someone goes to a Chinese restaurant and asks for Italian food and then says "I'm surprised they don't have Italian food when they said this was a restaurant."

It's an assumption.

Correct. They said the focus for expanding PBR this year was the uniforms. In the past it was padding on the walls, the dugouts, rails and other items, this year it was on the jerseys.

It would have been nice if they had taken the opportunity to completely fix the uniform issues though.

I don’t think we’ll see new uniform templates until next year when Under Armour takes over as the uniform apparel provider, I doubt they would put all that effort into creating new templates just to have to create a new set next year.

Purchased a 4K/HDR TV today and just played The Show. A lot of the colors/Jerseys do look much better in the game. The pirates yellow is still dark mustard though. Did not check on every team, but that was one I noticed.

A better analogy would be, Person A says they're going to repaint the garage and afterwards Person B is disappointed that Person A didn't bother tidying up the garage while they were in there.

Well I sure hope so. And I don't really want to get my hopes up to realize that we get new jerseys next year with the same awful template issue. It's ridiculous at this point, and the majority seem to agree it needs fixing pretty soon here. Not in five years. Next year then. I have no problem skipping this version. But if it's not there next year that will be extremely disappointing, just like it is extremely disappointing that the fields look so videogamey and weird with colors still. Those things don't ever seem to get major improvements, and the hope has been next year for about three or four years now.

There are no major memory limitations preventing jerseys IMO. It is the coders who have limited themselves either by time, experience, talent, et cetera. Plenty of devs are doing really nice clothing and details in games that have a lot more going on. Just because there is a crowd out there doesn't mean you need 8 more GB of RAM lol.

Now as far as the jerseys having some amazing type physics, well that will be an issue with framerate and GPU power, but it should easily be doable at least on the PS4 Pro. I don't think anyone is asking for real life jerseys that sway and act exactly as they are suppose to. People just want some better jerseys that don't look like they are a holdover from LAST GEN.

The way the development cycle works I'm not even sure the uniforms will be switched next year for the Under armour switch. If at all it might not be until the Show 20.
