What I am/was really hoping for was a much more intense, explosive highlight reel of the big moments, fast paced with angles that get you excited - whether this is what they're describing in the video and what we will get, I have no idea. If you watch a real game you are less likely to see a full highlight (the ball being hit, flying through the air and into the stand) and more likely to see a rapid fire cut shot of each. Who knows, maybe that's what they've done. Sounds a bit picky, I know, but if you play a full 162 game season then repetition can become a pain so I was hoping for different pre-game intros especially with pre-game or post-game analysis from the booth.

I also wanted more stat overlays other than just the familiar batter walk-up nameplate and stats. Again, maybe they've added more and we just haven't seen them yet.
Totally agree about the highlight reel. It's been stale for years now.

Not a fan of Harold Reynolds so I'm not sad to see him go, but I don't think Mark DeRosa was the right replacement. I honestly have never liked The Show's insistance on having a 3-man booth. It just doesn't flow well together. There could be a 1000 different lines recorded together but having the 3-man booth just muddles things. If I could have my dream booth I'd take someone like Brian Anderson (Brewers TV announcer) or Jim Powell (Braves radio announcer) and John Smoltz. That would be a great combination. I love listening to Anderson do playoff games for TBS and Smoltz is entertaining and insightful.

Now, as far as the video goes, the biggest thing that I liked that looked like new animation and physics was the Josh Donaldson broken bat chopper at 0:45. Also there was a new animation of a SS leaping to try to snag a liner. Both looked so much better than previous years.

that's a stylistic choice. The development team wants the commentary to be purposefully dry. lazy sunday afternoon baseball.

regardless I look forward to The Show 18

Anyone who thinks Mark DeRosa is boring and monotone clearly doesn't watch MLB Tonight.

You can say the same about Matt V. He is great in real life, awful in game. That is the fruits of reading lines!

Harold did fine reading lines. But the real important thing here is they are all recording together. That should be conducive to a more natural sounding conversation between the 3. Part of the reason it's always sounded so boring and sterile is because when they were recording lines, they'd have nothing and no one to naturally react to.

I like the crowd stuff. I'm currently playing in the ALDS and the crowd is just off. they aren't as loud as they should be so if it's been improved that will be a plus. Not going to talk about the commentary stuff since I need to actually hear it first.

We already know the asterisks for the Franchise stream stand for "Phases".

Kind of indifferent on this, more like a wait and see how they sound. I did like Reynolds though, Plesac I can take or leave.

This video was about as exciting as this years hot stove. I hope they pep it up in the stream.

100% agree. However, I usually only listen to the commentary 1 out of every 5 games I play. Usually have MLB Network Radio in my ear while The Show plays through the sound bar with commentary off. Has somewhat kept me from predicting what they say before they even say it.

Wish we could get a different broadcast team for RTTS. It’s unrealistic to hear Matt V announce the minor league games.

Im talking about the in game voice. I stated that in my post. Its the same with matt v, his real life voice does not compare to his in game voice. The video game recordings have been poorly done. The one stand out being harold reynolds, with his recording sounding similar to his real life broadcast voice.

I think the biggest issue is there is no dynamics to the commentary

If the score is 15-0 in the 9th, with 2 outs and a home run is his to make it 15-0 they will always say 'hang on a minute it aint over yet they still have life in them'. when it really should say 'it's all but to late'

and if a miracle comeback did happen. their would be no mention of them saying 'holy cow back from 15-0 down can you believe it! it would just be a generic line thrown in.

and everytime they talk about a starting pitching they talk about "he has a ERA of XXXX, he is not doing so well' he has a ERA of 2! he is doing great!

same with averages. they never talk about other important stats like OBP or WHIp or even WAR
