As for Out of The Park baseball are we even sure what kind of sales it does year by year. Or how its player numbers compare to MLB Franchise? I have often wondered why more franchise guys don't migrate over and the only reason I can come up with is that they either want the graphics or want to bat and pitch themselves.
Oh I don't expect franchise to leapfrong those two, but how many people in the mid-20s to late-30s gamer demo range grew up playing those mid-2000s sports games with good franchise modes? I would bet a ton. I mean MVP05 had an amazingly in-depth franchise mode that the Show hasn't beaten yet. RTTS was the Show's first real standout mode and their staple, so dedicating a ton of time to the mode makes a lot of sense to me. It's their baby.

As for OOTP, as a fan of the series myself, the biggest thing that keeps me from purchasing every year is that I can't see the players I develop/have or anything. I love being able to use them in a game. And I don't know the sales but the fact that they release it every year indicates to me they're doing OK.

Yeah, I have bought the last three versions of OOTP but since it releases so close to The Show this year I may hold off for a sale later. It can be a daunting program to say the least but has tons of options for customizing the experience.

If you mean "use them in a game" the same manner as you do in the show, I don't think you'll get that out of OOTP. However, they have made a huge step for OOTP 19 with their 3D models, and while I don't think it's probably what you're looking for, take a look anyways.

I'm still holding on to my dream of SDS having the OOTP guys come on down and take care of the franchise mode, or at the very least exchange ideas and see what they can do to make MLB The Show's franchise mode feel deeper and more engaging than it currently does. But who knows, maybe SDS is figuring it out on their own and maybe the info on thursday will show me that the guys are doing everything they can to keep franchise mode fresh and engaging and that they'll knock it..............

Back to RTTS, I had a realization that the new advancement system should have one advantage.... Players can't sabotage themselves. You regularly see players who complain that they are still in the minors or riding the bench in the majors in spite of stellar stats. In most cases it is because they allocated points unwisely, ignoring all fielding stats in favor of batting stats or upping their pitch quality without ever spending points in the per 9 ratings. The new system auto allocating the points for advancement should help eliminate that issue.
I'm 100% positive they are not calculating time spent playing each mode properly. How do I know? Because on the "official forum" shownation I can't post the reason being according to the moderator of the forum is I haven't played the Show enough hours. According to their numbers I've played franchise a total of 23 hours. In reality I played hundreds of hours in
show 17 franchise - all offline. I did quit in June but prior to that played hundreds of hours in manage mode offline. Over they years I've played thousands of hours of the show in franchise.

I played 34 minutes in diamond dynasty just to mess around with their team creator/logo/uniform. That number is accurately recorded on the official website. My time in franchise is greatly under actual time played so much so that I can't post on their forums because I haven't played the game enough according to their statistics.

I don't know why but this is a fact. Is it something in my PSN notification settings? Is it because I'm playing offline? I don't know.

Maybe they only count time played in actual games. If that's the case, then that's incredibly stupid.

The Show Nation website seems to just show hours and not days and hours as your normal Profile on the PS4 will show. The web site shows that I have only 2 hours in RTTS but I have completed at least three seasons, maybe more, across my 3 RTTS players.

It also shows I only have 21 hours in DD even though I have spent more than that just beating Conquest 3 times.

It takes between 45 minutes and an hour to play a game in manage mode and I played hundreds of hours in actual games. Far more than the 23 hours reported.

There is something wrong with how they gather their statistics. I have spent a total of zero money on things like stubs and card packs. I wonder if that is a factor in which modes get more attention.

                  Their stats are definitely wrong.

I just looked up my account. On average full broadcast presentation MoM games (the way I play most of my games) take about 2 hours each to complete and I have played 39 MoM games since the middle of January 2018 in a new season I recently started using MLB 17 and a season I plan to carry over into MLB 18. So this is only this year 2018, it does not factor in all the games I played in the Spring and early Summer months of 2017 before I got distracted and went on to do something else with my time. And it does not count all the games I played in 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013 and 2012 when I discovered the game. I never kept track of exactly how many games I have played over the years, but it is at least 1000 ... likely closer to 1500 or more. Anyway the ShowNation states I have only played MLB 17 for 22 hours which is only 11 games, and it states I have only played 375 games in my total The Show lifetime which is of course complete BS.

Hmmm...interesting. Some of you guys appear to be saying the oft-quoted hierarchy of modes might be based on bad data? That would be super disappointing if the case. I think we can all understand on some level, if not be happy about, developers prioritizing more-used modes over less-used ones (Spock said it best after all), but if the data being cited is nothing more than a flimsy house of cards...

I've never checked my own data for accuracy, but if some modes are being systematically under- or miscounted, it really opens up a whole new world of criticism every time they say RTTS is "this popular," DD is "that popular" etc.

That's really weird, because I've played less than that in all modes combined (I had to set up a new account when I moved from overseas because I could no longer buy things off PSN) and I have no issues posting over there on my newer account.

As far as I know my profile as shown on the PS4 when I show my online profile is correct. The web site is definitely wrong. I don't think it counts days so when you pass 23 hours and 59 minutes in a mode then it resets to 0:00

And just because SDS tells us the stats of the number of games played we have no idea what metric they actually use internally. It could be games, it could be hours, it could be the amount of stubs spent on the mode. Who knows.

A couple of years ago I was using the cards we get for playing the game to build a DD team, but I never played any DD games, so yeah it makes sense why I may have a lot of zeros in my profile for DD and RTTS. My PlayNow numbers should be higher, Franchise might be about right since I am more about single seasons. But my season stats are all wrong. They are way under inflated. Notice though that Tessl says his profile says 23 hours as does mine? Coincidence? Hmmm ...

PS: I still prefer MoM season games, yeah I know I am one of those weirdos. But I am toying with the idea of trying out a RTTS pitcher to see how that plays in MLB 18.

I can also confirm my profile is WAY off.

I'm currently 43-22 in my Legend franchise with the Yankees. That's AT LEAST 65 hours of gameplay right there, not including the probably 100 games I played before this season just trying to get my sliders right (and the 3 franchises I quit before this when they released patches that totally changed the gameplay).

Right now, according to my Show profile, it says I've played 7 hours and 47 minutes of franchise. I've literally poured in well over 150-200 hours in Franchise, AT LEAST.

Of course it also has my tendencies WAY off. According to their stats, my hitting is 3/5 yet I play on Legend and my team batting average is about .257. Honestly, I think the way they calculate their stats are ALL completely off!

I was not aware about the show nation log in, but now this proves their data stats are a load of crap!!

As I have said on here I play every single game in franchise mode yes every game on the schedule not just 1 team every pitch, so I spend about 4 hours a day if I play 2 games a day, plus add in all the editing I do adding players within franchise and 30 team control.

well it says I have spend 1 hour and 47 mins in franchise... well thats how much i would spend on 1 game!! and it says spend 2 hours in the post season LOL
