Re: MLB The Show 18 GameStop Monday - RTTS
Whoa I’m late to the party!!
Although I’m disappointed GS Monday was about RTTS (it felt like a first date where the girl on picture looked 40lbs lighter than IRL), I’m not buying the conspiracy.
We (more than any other MLBTS buyers) knew they weren’t going to revolutionize franchise this year, and maybe even not next year.
We also know that they never left modes untouched as EA does with Madden and NHL.
It saddens me that RTTS get so much attention but what else can we do?
One thing I’d like tho is SDS being very open and transparent with the data they have on what mode users are playing. I’m still confused by the popularity of RTTS. Every friends and relatives who buys the game play either franchise or DD. Who are those RTTS players??Comment

For what it's worth, I seriously doubt SDS use those figures to make decisions on how to allocate resources. I'd hope not anywayComment

I am sure the developers love reading this thread and having a laugh to themselves. they probably enjoy all this... I know I would/Comment

I've been on such a hiatus from the series, well gaming in general, that this mode is going to feel so fresh compared to where I last dug deep on the PS3.
I dabbled into the mode on past PS4 versions around my hiatus, and never tried any other mode in the games. Basically I gave Sony $60 just to collect the Boxes, lol.
Needless to say, I am super stoked! Feels good to be back gaming again.

Re: MLB The Show 18 GameStop Monday - RTTS
Just a couple of observations.
If Franchise had nothing done to it(we already know about rain) then there would be no stream this week.
If we (FranchiseNation) want to be heard, the LAST thing we need to do is belly ache over other modes getting attention.
I play very little DD or RTTS. But I’m happy they are getting attention. It doesn’t bother me at all. But if we continue down this road we are simply the middle child complaining that big brother and little brother got better toys than us.

As for complaining about other modes getting all the oxygen, the developers did this to themselves. The only major development in the mode since I've been playing on PS4 has been carry-over saves, which is just as useful to RTTS players as it is to Franchise. They've completely rebuilt other modes and centered their business model around them. They've been very vocal and proud of their efforts, leaving Franchise largely untouched in the process. I don't think it's unfair to point that out on a day a good chunk of OS'ers were expecting some news about Franchise mode only to get a video about....another one of those modes.

I really couldn't care less about the developers being transparent over which modes are being played the most/least, when that same rationalization is constantly used as a wedge against why they didn't do more with your favorite mode year-in and year-out. Good for them, I guess. Making those sound business decisions. As a consumer who enjoys Franchise mode, their data doesn't help me any.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: MLB The Show 18 GameStop Monday - RTTS
This thread is about 20% people complaining about Franchise mode and 40% people complaining about people complaining about Franchise mode. Which one of us gets the better toys, then?

The sad reality is those of us who play Franchise mode have been all too content to play a mode that has languished behind some of the others. That, to use your words, "we knew they weren't going to revolutionize franchise this year" and yet we're hoping for some news that they've done something to it over the past 9 months is the dilemma we find ourselves in. It's not a bad game and baseball is a great sport; it's just that they're not giving people much reason to buy it each year at this rate. I find myself in the unusual position, as a baseball fanatic that bought a PS4 console basically so I could play this game, of probably not buying it this time. Never thought that would happen; this game has gone from a console-mover to a maybe.

Re: MLB The Show 18 GameStop Monday - RTTS
Originally posted by jimmy13As everyone is entitled to their opinion, I’d like to share mine. I see in here, weirdly, more complaining this year then I think ever.
This game is many things to many people and the devs have created a game that many people enjoy in a myriad of different ways, even within the same game mode.
The reason there is always so much contention around this time of the year is that we all love the game. We would not be so passionate if we did not love the game.
So while the mood can get testy at times, the devs should realize that it is a good thing. Nobody argues over the details of a game that they are apathetic about.Comment

For as long as I have been here, this is by far the worst Show period on here ever.

Re: MLB The Show 18 GameStop Monday - RTTS
It’s an increasingly stressful time in American history currently. People are cranky, and sometimes their only solace is to play a revamped MLB The Show.
Jokes aside, SDS over the years have raised the bar to the point where they are hurt by their own success. Gameplay and Franchise made this game popular, and DD/RTTS took it to the next level. While I’m mostly a franchise player myself, I get where the money is and franchise is not at the forefront at this time. It would be interesting to see which direction SDS would take the show if they were met with a competitor who favored franchise and had success with it.
Another thought would be what kind of impact adding a few more designers to the team could have based on the extra revenue generated through the very successful online modes. With a short development cycle, the more help the merrier (if feasible). Here’s hoping to some good news tomorrow and Thursday.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 GameStop Monday - RTTS
Seems the "developers" are taking the heat. I would bet that they are given their marching orders and they are expected to follow them. Everybody has a boss and I'm sure they are no different, so maybe ease up on the developers. Seems to me their interaction has really lessened this season. I wouldn't want to hear the constant harping (or "opinions" as some might say) every time I came on the board. I'd steer clear. Just my opinion, no harping intended.Comment
