Re: Anybody else still on the edge about buying?
Always a day 1 purchase for me and for years I’ve taken the day off of work/school - should I say I’ve “worked from home”

Re: Anybody else still on the edge about buying?
For some people, $60 is a lot of money. For others it's more of a referendum about whether they think the game/developers are worthy of that chunk of their change. People are acting like consumers trying to make the right decision for them and I think that's a good thing. I'm sure there are a lot of reasons if you ask different people.
Now, if your post is just a loaded way for you to say "I don't think this thread has any value, make up your minds already and I can't understand you people," then that would be unnecessarily condescending and there's no need for that. Hard to read intent over the internet...Comment

Re: Anybody else still on the edge about buying?
Definately day one buy for me. This may sound crazy but I even took friday off from work. I am just hoping they fixed the issue where power hitters would suicide squeeze with the base loaded. I lost a few extra inning games like this.Comment

Well he didn't say "on edge." He said (both in the title and the opening sentence) "on the edge" meaning he's still trying to decide between buying or not buying.Comment

Re: Anybody else still on the edge about buying?
I remain undecided. After buying the game every year from 2008-2016, I knew as soon as the franchise mode un-reveal happened a year ago that I was skipping the game. I simply kept playing 16, since there was basically no difference.
This year, I'm thinking about it. I'm grateful that the OS team put up the bullet point list about the improvements in this year's franchise version. They're minor, but they're there. To me, its like a good patch for 16 more than a new game, but its something. Its not what I wanted, but there are things in there that do appeal to me.
I also have the added draw of being a Cubs fan and wanting to play with this year's club in the game, with all of the important players there, not needing to be created like I did with my current game. Its a draw.
In the end, I haven't bought the game on Day One since 2013 anyways, back on the PS3, and I won't be getting it next Tuesday either. I'll probably wait for the price to drop to $39.99, or else a Target Buy 2 Get 1 free sale, as they often have one in the Spring. (That's how I got the 2015 version).

Re: Anybody else still on the edge about buying?
I have financial issues too at the moment, and I pre-ordered. The #1 reason why I bought a PS4 in 2014 was because I wanted to play the Show. This is the only game I am excited for so far this year and the only one I would get no matter what my situation is. I'm going to play this game to death and it might be the only sports game I purchase all year.
If you're in the US, there's no reason why you can't get Best Buy's Gamers Club Unlocked. It's $30 for 2 years. As long as the game is in new condition, you get a 20% discount. You can order the game any time you feel like it, so you don't have to feel obligated to get it on the release date. If you don't play Diamond Dynasty or the Road to the Show, you don't need to worry about pre-ordering.
I used a certificate, so I took off more money off the price. At the end of the day, this game will be waiting for you. I can't play this game until next week, so I am going to be jealous of all of you who get to play on Friday.Comment

Re: Anybody else still on the edge about buying?
Maybe all those on the fence this year to make the purchase might watch the developer tournament on Thursday 3/22 and that might just sway them to change their minds or notWhen you come to a fork in the road, take it..... Yogi Berra

Re: Anybody else still on the edge about buying?
I'm definitely going to buy, I'm just not certain whether I want to pre-order (time running out on that option), wait until release, or wait 2-4 weeks after release. Then there's those videos you can watch that earn you stubs/packs (not really my thing) and one that gets you 20% off (I'm assuming on the game??? #conundrum lol

Re: Anybody else still on the edge about buying?
I haven't really seen anything to warrant a $65 purchase for me. I will be waiting until the price drops to $30 or less. Playstation has plenty of exclusive titles like God of War coming out soon anyway and I probably would have trouble finding time to play MLB.

Quite frankly......I get the “lack of Franchise improvements” so I am sticking with 16 mentality.
But if you love the gameplay of The Show.....which to me is the heart and soul of the game and what really makes it so amazing.....you are really missing out on the gameplay improvements.
Believe me when I tell you that despite the loud loud minority about hitting is broken on 17 blah blah blah blah......offline gameplay was an incredible jump up as the ball physics were a game changer along with humanity AI with urgent and non urgent throwing, and imperfect tracking of fly balls from the CPU and fielding ratings actually mattering.
This cycle they really tuned it more and really killed it with the new tagging system and catcher animations which plagued 17 (that was the bugaboo for me but did not kill my love and immersion for that game overall as I am playing 17 still to to this day...which will be my last day with 17 LOL).
If you are a hardcore baseball fan and love playing the actual game (not simming) you really should go for it. You will be happy. Now Playing on PS5:
