Nope. Not true. I had a 99 overall player... lost my number on numerous occasion. I seem to be the only one ever raising a fuss over this, which I just don’t understand. Does it not drive anyone else nuts to lose your jersey number multiple times throughout your career?

The only solution I’ve found is to wear a strange, higher number. Which you may still lose. I have been wearing #77. A number not really worn by any (that I know of) players in baseball. However, that still doesn’t mean that eventually I wouldn’t lose it. And secondly, I don’t like wearing that number to begin with. It’s dumb.

Re: Official MLB 18 : Road to the Show Thread

Finally got back to this to finish up my AA playoffs and beyond. My player helped lead the Flying Squirrels to a Double-A championship, and got the call for a Spring Training invite with the Giants for 2019. That went absolutely awful - I think I batted something like .080 while facing mostly closer/setup caliber relievers in pinch-hitting roles. To be honest I was surprised I was kept on the MLB team when SF broke camp, but it happened. So right now I'm on the MLB bench, but seeing a fair bit of playing time thanks to LF, RF, and 2B familiarity. Really, I'm just glad to have started my service time clock this early - I wasn't expecting to reach the bigs in my 2nd year on straight Legend (via Dynamic Difficulty).

And...it's starting to look like I belong. The game after getting my first MLB hit, THIS happened in my first MLB start.

You might say my guy has a flair for the dramatic - winning that AA playoff game with a walkoff HR and now THIS off Kenley Jansen?? He's still only mid - 40 power so it's really a rush when I square one up with a pull swing and think it can clear the fence.

I think the bigger issue is he has performed insanely good, yet has been promoted, demoted, promoted, demoted....what is THAT about?

Again, this could be fixed if they would just allow us control over callups and lineups, if not full GM control.

They (and people here) can say it isn't realistic, but how realistic is what happened to his reliever?

How realistic is it for the Braves to sign Rizzo to 20 million a year when they have Freeman?

If they can't fix the GM and manager AI, just let us control it.

That's weird. I've had only a couple of instances where another player had the same number as me. My number was changed (they gave me the next lowest available number) until I had the higher overall. So your experience doesn't match up at all with mine. These were '18 player in the show 18, not ones I brought over from' 17.

I've created several rtts characters and really the only time my number changed was when I was brought up a level or traded. Generally when my number gets changed its to one I don't like, so I usually just take a look at what's available on my team, pick a number, and then edit my player to use it. Once I do that, unless a higher overall player happens to get traded to my team who happens to have my exact number (really unlikely) I've kept my number. I've never resorted to using crazy offensive lineman type numbers either.

Edit: I could see how not editing your number could cause a problem. If you have preferred number 10, but 10 through 15 are taken... You'll get 16. However, if you leave your preference at #10, your number will change everytime someone between 10 and 15 gets removed from the roster. Remember, it always gives you the next available number after your preferred number.

                Service time?

Ive now played one full year in the league since my call up and it’s showing that I have 0.156 MLB years. Is this because I’m a pitcher?

I am an Astros pitcher that is in tripe A right now. I am struggling and hoping I wont be sent down. I am a 65 overall. Just finishing my second season. My pitching difficulty is way up though and that is what causes my struggling. I have three pitches. Fastball, Screwball, and Knuckleball. Tough pitcher for batters to it . I am having fun with it and hope to get called up soon.

I really hope they change up the formula for developing (both in Road to The Show and players in franchise) next year. I don't like the fact that our performance dictates whether we increase our ratings. It's backwards.

In real life a guy gets better, stronger, has better vision, etc. (progresses, basically) and THEN he puts up numbers because of it. He doesn't put up numbers and THEN get stronger because of it. I understand they were trying to put an emphasis on statistical performance but it's wonky.

I tried using search but I couldn’t find it. If you move to a secondary position how long before they move you back to your primary?

I‘ve had it between 1 to 3 series with my players until they moved me back. I don‘t know if they will keep you longer in your secondary position perhaps.

This is one of the reasons why I stopped playing this game so early. RttS was a disappointment to me this year.

I agree with you if it was franchise mode. But for rtts it works as if you play better you play better and play worse you play worse. Seem super natural to me in rtts. You're ratings are just how good you are naturally.

I have 3 starting pitchers going in RTTS 18(2 are carryovers). Is HR/9 still a useless attribute except for simming and ovr?

I created a CF, got drafted by the phillies, he hit .333 with 40 HR and over 100 RBI

During the off season he was not promoted and sent back to AA to ride the bench...out of frustration i simulated the following season just to see what would happen and the same thing - benched.

I'm just done. I started playing this series as a 20 something and now i'm 37 with a career, kids blah blah...it's just time to let it go. Not really sure why they messed up the RTTS like this, maybe they're focusing on the online too much, a mode I don't even play.
